Quick Facts About Rang Dong Restaurant
Rang Dong Restaurant has several strengths based on the comments provided. Firstly, it is praised for its tasty and flavorful food. The banh mis are specifically mentioned as being flavorful and good value. This indicates that the restaurant excels in creating delicious dishes that are worth the price. Additionally, the beef noodle soup is described as delicate, flavorful, and filled with a generous amount of beef shank. This shows that Rang Dong Restaurant is capable of delivering high-quality, flavorful soups.
Another strength of Rang Dong Restaurant is its friendly service. Multiple comments mention the friendly and respectful staff. The shop owners are commended for their warm and professional manner, with one comment even noting that the staff brought the food out to the customer's truck. This level of attentive and friendly service creates a positive dining experience and encourages customers to return.
Furthermore, Rang Dong Restaurant offers a diverse menu with a variety of Vietnamese dishes. Comments mention trying the specialty soups, bun rieu, bun bo hue, banh xeo, and broken rice plate. This indicates that the restaurant has a wide range of options to cater to different tastes and preferences. The fact that customers have positive experiences with multiple dishes suggests that the overall quality of the food is consistent across the menu.
In terms of weaknesses, one comment mentioned that the specialty soups were "just okay" and not as flavorful as expected. While this is only one person's opinion, it suggests that the flavors of some dishes may fall short of expectations. However, it's important to note that taste preferences can vary, and what one person finds lacking in flavor, another may enjoy.
Another comment mentions that the beef banh mi did not have the same level of heat and flavor as the pork and chicken versions. This inconsistency in flavor between different meat options may be a potential weakness as it indicates a lack of consistency in the preparation of certain dishes.
Overall, Rang Dong Restaurant has several strengths including tasty and flavorful food, friendly service, and a diverse menu. While there may be some inconsistencies in flavor and the overall experience may vary from person to person, the positive comments indicate that Rang Dong Restaurant is generally a well-regarded and enjoyable place to dine.

I’ve had a few meals here and think it’s a decently priced place with tasty food. The shop owners are also really friendly.
I recommend the banh mis as they are flavorful and good value!
The last time I went my friend and I had the speciality soups which honestly were just okay. Nice and warming but the flavors weren’t as punchy as we thought they should be.
I’ll be back for banh mis and to try the pho. Good place to grab a snack or get some warm soup on a cold or rainy day.
Happened here by chance and I’m glad I did. My beef noodle soup was delicate, flavorful and chock full of beef shank (which happens to be the ideal kind for this dish)
Good for Bun Rieu & Bun Bo Hue (pictured).
11/12/2022: Quick stop before heading to the Oakland Zoo. Ordered the Bun Rieu & Bun Bo Hue again. Same yummy taste; however, I've noticed that the noodles didn't have pork blood.
I had a craving for Banh Mi. My little bro told me about this spot. Well today I needed my fix, so I took a drive. As I walked in I was greeted by a very nice friendly and respectful lady who asked me to take a seat. So, I did right where there was a stack of menus and I grabbed one. I wanted to try different meats to see which one I liked the best. My brother wanted the shredded pork so I got one too. Then I ordered a chicken and a beef. I know that is a lot but I needed my fix! I hope you understand? LOL Yes I can eat especially when I crave something I have not had in a long time. I told the Lady I will wait outside in my truck and she said she would bring the food out to me. Is that sweet or what. The wait was not that long and she did bring the food out in a very professional and friendly manner. So, to me the service was very nice. Me and brother drove to our hangout and was getting sun and eating outside. Nice day. I tried the pork first which was very good and had some very hot green chile which I love. Then the chicken, again very good and tasty with that heat which I loved. I told my brother when I write the review I will use a word that I never use to describe food? I said I will use the word lovely. I told my brother these were some lovely sandwiches. LOL! I know that sounds funny but they were very lovely sandwiches! Lastly the beef, I preferred the other two. The beef for some reason did not have the heat and flavor as the pork and chicken but still good but not as good as the other two. The Banh Mi from this place all in all quenched my craving in a very nice way. So, well worth the trip and I will try other dishes when I have the craving for Vietnamese Food. My brother told me there are other dishes I should try like their pho. I recommend Rang Dong for their very nice service and very lovely Banh Mi! Alameda you have a hidden gem on your hands so show your support and go get some! Thank You Rang Dong! 5 Stars!!
The broth was delightful and the tripe was incredibly delicious. Ordered a salted plum drink. Absolutely delicious. Everyone was so polite. ???? would come back again.
My favorite spot for a Vietnamese specialized noodle: Bun Rieu (Tomato Soup). It's typically difficult to find a restaurant that make this soup with flavor. Rang Dong is by far the best I have tried as far as the Bun Rieu is concerned. The slow cooked pork ribs (falls off bone), the fried tofu, pork blood cake, egg soup & scallions with bean sprouts, cilantro and slice jalapenos on the side. You'll be surprised of how tasty this soup is. Good Luck!
Great food and great service. I had the bun Bo hue and egg rolls, both were great
Rang Dong is a wonderful, family run old school Vietnamese restaurant with delicious food and warm service. We got three dishes: banh xeo, bun boe hue, and a broken rice plate.
The banh xeo was definitely the star of the evening: fresh, crisp, and extremely tasty. It was our first time getting this dish, and the auntie waiting on us was kind enough to show us how to roll the lettuce wraps. We were thinking this was an appetizer, but in reality it could have been either a full meal for one or an appetizer for 3-4 people.
The bun boe hue was a generous portion with tender, fatty meat. I expected a bit more spice in the soup base, but this was easy to fix with the table side condiments.
The broken rice plate was well done as well - pork grilled to perfection, rice exceedingly fragrant and toothsome.
Restaurant was clean and efficient. All in all a great find - come for the food, stay for the warm service.
