Quick Facts About San's Cafe

San's Cafe has several strengths that make it a popular place for customers. Firstly, customers appreciate that they can get a full English breakfast alongside authentic Chinese food. This gives them a wide range of options to choose from, and the fact that both cuisines are cooked fresh is seen as a positive aspect. Additionally, many customers praise the cheap prices, filling portions, quick service, and overall good food quality. The combination of these factors satisfies customers who want a quick, affordable, and tasty meal. The homemade Chinese food is particularly highlighted as the best Chinese food the customers have ever had.
Another strength of San's Cafe is its understanding and accommodation of dietary restrictions. A customer who is coeliac was pleasantly surprised to find that the cafe has gluten-free soy sauce and is knowledgeable about what gluten-free means. This allows individuals with dietary restrictions to enjoy a meal without worrying about their health. The fact that the staff couldn't do enough for the customers is also noted positively, suggesting that they go above and beyond to meet customer needs.
However, despite these strengths, there are also some weaknesses that customers have pointed out. One recurring issue is the service. In one comment, a customer waited in a queue for a long time only to be told that the cafe wasn't taking any orders. This lack of communication and wasted time is a major letdown for the customer. Another customer had a similar experience where their order was not correctly fulfilled, with missing items. This lack of attention to detail and the feeling that the person taking the order wasn't listening creates a negative impression of the cafe.
Additionally, some customers have negative comments about the appearance and overall atmosphere of the cafe. One customer describes it as "manky" and suggests it is living on past glories. The food quality is also criticized, with one customer noting that they could only taste salt in their dish and that the fried rice was barely warm. The perception of the cafe as overpriced for what customers receive is another drawback mentioned.
Overall, San's Cafe has some clear strengths, such as offering a diverse menu, fresh and good quality food, and accommodating dietary restrictions. However, there are weaknesses regarding service quality, attention to detail, and food presentation. These negative aspects should be addressed to enhance the overall customer experience and improve the reputation of the cafe.

Great place where you can get a full English alongside chop suey rolls. All good cooked fresh. Will be back
A dock road cafe that you can get great, authentic Chinese food from, as well as a "Full English" cafe menu. Cheap, filling, quick service & good food - pretty much all you want at times.
Had some lovely fresh made Asian food at this cafe. Looks like they do a lot of standard English fry ups for the workies, but it is Chinese food that is most worthy.
Proper dock road cafe. English breakfast and lunch options. No frills but don’t be put off, the food is the headliner. If you want to try the famous Chinese food prepared to wait. Not like a Chinese takeaway, food thrown out in minutes. All prepared fresh with quality ingredients. I loved it there and will definitely be back. Disappointed no Spring rolls left.
I was with a small group, some of whom had been before on more than one occasion and highly recommended Sans. My main reservation was that as coeliac, my choice from the menu was likely to be limited. Hey! They have gluten free soy sauce. They know what gluten free means (not everyone does) and produced me an amazing chicken fried rice. Most people will not understand the relevance of this. Those that know will know.
What an incredible little place!! Staff couldn't do enough for us and the homemade Chinese food has to be sampled to be believed. Easily the best Chinese food we've ever had.
Shocking
Gave this place a go twice now - first time waited ages in a queue to then be told not
Taking any orders. Could have just said that when I arrived.
Gave it another chance and paid £22 for a chow mein, salt and pepper chicken and some dumplings , got home and dumplings weren’t in the bag. The person who took my
Order seemed like he wasn’t listening and I can’t believe I’ve wasted £22 on this. I really had high hopes but both experiences have meant I won’t ever go back. Totally disappointed and they are overpriced for what you get.
The place looks manky, I’m sure it was good when the dad had it but it’s living on past glories.
I got Salt-N-Pepa chicken and I couldn’t taste anything and I mean anything but salt and the fried rice was barely warm
It’s not even cheap
I should’ve handed it back, but to be honest, I just wont go back there or recommend it.
It’s a pity because I’ve been looking to go there for ages and really wanted to find a hidden gem, it’s bang average at best
