Quick Facts About Sea Spray
Sea Spray Place, based on the comments provided, has several distinct strengths and weaknesses. In order to analyze them, we will break down the comments and assess each aspect separately.
Strengths:
1. Best Chips: Multiple comments praised the quality of the chips at Sea Spray Place, stating that they were crunchy, hot, and cooked well. One reviewer specifically mentioned that they were the best chips they had ever had from any chip shop.
2. Good Crunchy Fish: Despite mixed opinions on the fish, one comment mentioned that the mini fish was delicious. This suggests that the fish can be of good quality, at least in some instances.
3. Generous Portions: A reviewer mentioned that the cone-sized portion of chips was generous, which implies that customers receive a substantial amount of food for their money.
4. Value for Money: A reviewer highlighted the affordable price of the large donner meat and chips, claiming that it offers great value at £6.50.
Weaknesses:
1. Miserable and Rude Staff: A recurring complaint was the attitude of the staff. Many reviewers described them as miserable, moody, and lacking customer service skills. Some also mentioned that the staff would be on their phones or chat among themselves while customers were present, indicating a lack of professionalism.
2. Inconsistent Food Quality: There were mixed opinions regarding the food quality at Sea Spray Place. While some reviewers praised the chips and fish they received, others criticized them for being soggy, tasteless, greasy, or undercooked. This suggests inconsistency in the preparation and cooking of the food.
3. Use of Cheap Ingredients: Multiple comments implied that Sea Spray Place may be using cheap ingredients, such as the cheapest chips, oil, and batter available. This could explain the negative remarks about soggy fish, tasteless chips, and a greasy aftertaste.
4. Incorrect Orders: Some customers reported that their orders were incorrect, with missing items. This indicates issues with order accuracy and attention to detail.
5. Poor Hygiene: One reviewer mentioned finding paper inside the fish, which is a clear indication of poor hygiene practices.
6. Limited Payment Options: During the pandemic, Sea Spray Place only accepted cash, which could be inconvenient for customers who prefer contactless payments.
7. Disappointing Overall Experience: Several reviewers expressed their disappointment with Sea Spray Place, describing their visits as a letdown, awful, or vile. They cited rude staff, undercooked and greasy fish, and poor customer service as contributing factors to their negative experiences.
In conclusion, Sea Spray Place has both strengths and weaknesses. While their chips and some instances of fish have been praised, the overall experience is often marred by rude and moody staff, inconsistent food quality, and poor customer service. The use of potentially cheap ingredients, incorrect orders, and limited payment options further contribute to the negative perception of the establishment. Improvements in staff training, food consistency, hygiene practices, and customer service could significantly enhance the overall dining experience at Sea Spray Place.
Best TL Reviews
Miserable staff. Absolutely tasteless chips, mostly scrag ends. Very greasy. Horrible
Has been very hit and miss here for a while. Although the last time I went the lady cooking and serving delivered some great chips, best I've had in a while.
Food quality: soggy fish, very soggy chips stuck to the paper.
I would say they are using the cheapest chips, oil, batter that they can find.
Service:
Absolutely no warmth nor friendliness, the women just seem unhappy and not intrested and the guy behind there with them plain blanks you.
It is definitely worth the effort me driving out of my way home a bit to go to one of my favourites chippies.
I don't rate fast food as being particularly good for you, so I rarely eat it - but when you are too tired to cook for yourself after work and have to buy your evening meal it is at least worth eating a good crunchy dry fragrant tasty fish and chips with amazing potatoes instead of a load of stodge that sits in your guts like wet greasy mush.
They were cash only throughout the pandemic too, which is nuts
Having been doing some work near by this place came highly recommended to me but what a disappointment.
Should have followed my gut & walked straight out after entering the premises. The bloke behind the counter was so rude, no acknowledgement when I entered just a condescending look from him.
Ordered the fish & chips as this was what was recommended. Asked for a fish & chips & all he could do was point at the 2 pieces on display. Not sure what piece of fish it was but definitely not haddock or cod as advertised. It was over cooked on the ends with chewy bits & soaked in oil throughout & tasted stale. The only saving grace was the fact that the chips were piping hot & cooked really well other than that it was a big let down. In the end I ended up throwing almost all of it away.
If only I had taken a pic before putting in the bin.
A piece of advice, just save your money & stay away.
We chose Sea Spray because they serve the best chips we've ever had from any chippy. We live in Warwick so we go there from time to time for a treat and sit outside and eat them. Their cone sized portion is generous and the mini fish was delicious!
One of the WORST fish and chips I’ve ever had if not THE WORST. First the staff were rude. Second the fish had an awful taste to it and tasted undercooked and 90% of our food was stuck to the paper. There was also paper INSIDE the fish. Absolutely vile. Our order was also incorrect and there were missing items. The woman behind the counter was so rude and had absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever. You’d think you’d get a smile since you’re giving them your custom but obviously not.
Really poor fish and chip shop, only thing worth getting is the chips if you are in a hurry. Staff are terrible, all of them are moody and have no customer service skills and quite often stand on their phones and chat amongst themselves whilst customers are in there. Fish is awful quality and always has a strange greasy taste and is definitely never fresh. Honestly just drive 5mins up the road to Nelsons in Hockley Heath which is probably some of the best fish and chips I have ever had.
Always amazing kebabs with great value on £6.50 for a large donner meat and chips which is always stacked!
