Quick Facts About Sushi Sawa
Sushi Sawa is a small sushi restaurant located in downtown Covina. One of its strengths is its fast service. Despite only having one server and one chef, customers mentioned that the service was quick and attentive. This is a positive aspect as it ensures that customers do not have to wait long for their food or for any requests they may have.
Another strength is the quality and flavor of the food. Customers mentioned that all the dishes, including the salmon sashimi, pink lady, beef teriyaki, mix tempura, and yellowtail collar, were well-seasoned and flavorful. The cooked dishes were not over or undercooked, indicating a good level of skill in the kitchen. The miso soup, in particular, was highlighted as having great flavors. This demonstrates the restaurant's ability to consistently provide tasty dishes to its customers.
The atmosphere of Sushi Sawa was also praised by customers. The exposed brick and intimate tables created a cute and cozy atmosphere reminiscent of the east coast. This could be perceived as a strength as it provides a pleasant and romantic environment for conversations or dates.
Additionally, the restaurant offers street parking, which is convenient for customers who are driving.
However, there are also some weaknesses of Sushi Sawa that were mentioned in the comments. One common criticism was the perceived high price and small portion sizes. A customer mentioned that they had to keep ordering more food and that the total bill for two people amounted to $80. This could be seen as a weakness as it may deter customers who are looking for more affordable options or larger portions.
Another weakness mentioned by a customer was the freshness of the sushi. They specifically mentioned that the oysters tasted like those from a jar at the market seafood section, and that the rest of the food lacked flavor. This raises concerns about the quality of the ingredients used in the dishes. The wilted lettuce in the salad was also a negative factor mentioned. This suggests that there may be inconsistencies in the quality of the ingredients used in the restaurant.
Some customers also mentioned that the service was just okay and that the restaurant was unexpectedly empty for a Friday night. This could be seen as a weakness as it may indicate a lack of popularity or customer satisfaction. However, it is worth noting that other reviewers had positive experiences with the service and praised the staff for being attentive.
In conclusion, Sushi Sawa has strengths in terms of its fast service, flavorful food, and cute atmosphere. However, there are weaknesses regarding the perceived high price and small portion sizes, as well as concerns about the freshness and flavor of some dishes. Additionally, the average service and lack of customers on a Friday night were highlighted as potential weaknesses.

This is a small sushi restaurant located in downtown Covina. There were 3 tables, 1 server, and a chef. Service was very fast.
We ordered salmon sashimi, pink lady (no carb), beef teriyaki, mix tempura, and yellowtail collar. Al the food was well seasoned and flavorful. None of the cooked dishes were over or under cooked. I gave 4 stars because it was pricy. Portion seemed small, and we have to keep ordering more food. The total was $80 for 2 people.
Street parking is available.
Really cute atmosphere, reminds me of being on the east coast with the exposed brick. Service was quick and attentive. They have a huge selection of rolls, but most rolls have crab of shrimp in it. Intimate tables for conversations or dates.
Good quality of food and service. Excellent environment for date. Accept call to order takeout. Pay attention to its opening hours. Does not open every Sunday and Wednesday.
Looks pretty good, but not the freshest which is obviously an issue when it comes to sushi. The oysters were the biggest issue. They tasted like the ones you get in a jar at the market seafood section. I wouldn’t have minded if they were not advertised as fresh. If they weren’t from a jar, than I’m a little worried and hope I don’t get sick ???? the rest of the food was edible, but didn’t have much flavor. Even the lettuce in my salad was wilted. The dressing was delicious though and best part of the meal was the miso soup. Great flavors. Service was just ok. It was dead for a Friday night, which should have been the warning, but live and learn.
We came here for Cycling event to climb Crystal Lake. Stopped by Sawa for dinner. Surprisingly, the sushi was so delicious and fresh. Spider roll and sushi combo was to die for and the staff was attentive. I wish they have one in the Bay Area.
The best sushi in Azusa! I love the vibe of this place, it's quaint & quiet. Super chill atmosphere. Shown in my photo is their bento box with Crunchy Shrimp roll, Spicy Tuna Roll and Tempura veggies! Delicious, light and refreshing and satisfying!
Outdoor dining is awesome!! I've been doing takeout and did not know they had outdoor dining available, with 2 large tents and heaters. Sushi sawa is the best sushi place around, freshest and high quality, definitely recommend!
The sushi was very fresh! Sit at the bar and have Andy serve you! The selection of rolls are endless and you can't go wrong with any of them. Angie, the wife and manager takes great care of you too! She will remember your name when you come back and makes sure your dining experience is nothing short of extraordinary! Definitely give them a try and I'm sure you'll be a regular!
