Quick Facts About The Auld Hoose
The Auld Hoose has several strengths based on the comments provided. Firstly, the pub is described as being small but clean, which suggests that it is well-maintained and offers a pleasant environment for patrons. Additionally, the staff at The Auld Hoose are consistently praised for their friendliness, indicating that they provide good customer service and contribute to a positive atmosphere.
The fact that the pub offers gins, as mentioned in one of the comments, can be seen as a strength for those who enjoy a different range of drinks beyond real ales. This shows that The Auld Hoose caters to different preferences and offers variety in its beverage selection.
The comment about the pub being a fine place for a pre-match beer suggests that The Auld Hoose is conveniently located near a football stadium, making it a suitable spot for sports fans to gather before a match. This demonstrates that the pub understands its target audience and seeks to meet their needs.
Another comment highlights the buzzing atmosphere on a Friday night, with the pub full and everyone enjoying themselves. This indicates that The Auld Hoose can offer a lively and vibrant experience, particularly with karaoke in full swing. The availability of a range of drinks, including beer and wine, is also mentioned as a positive aspect.
Additionally, the reasonable prices at The Auld Hoose are commended, suggesting that it offers value for money. This can be an attractive quality for customers who are budget-conscious or looking for affordable options.
However, there is also a weakness mentioned in the comments - the lack of real ales. Although the pub offers a variety of other drinks, the absence of real ales may be seen as a drawback for those who prefer this particular type of beer.
Furthermore, it is noted that the transport links around The Auld Hoose are described as "awful." This can be considered a weakness as it may deter potential customers who rely on convenient access to public transportation.
Lastly, one comment mentions that the restaurant name has changed, which may cause confusion among customers who are familiar with the previous name. While the description of the food being "very good" and the wait staff being great are positive aspects, it is unclear if these pertain to The Auld Hoose or the new restaurant name mentioned. This lack of clarity may create uncertainty for customers and affect their decision to dine at the pub.
In conclusion, The Auld Hoose has several strengths including its clean and friendly environment, variety of drinks including gins, and its ability to cater to the needs of sports fans. The pub also offers affordable prices, a buzzing atmosphere, and positive customer service. However, weaknesses include the absence of real ales, poor transport links, and potential confusion regarding the restaurant name change. Despite these weaknesses, The Auld Hoose appears to be generally well-regarded and offers a pleasant experience for patrons.

No real ales. We had gins. Small but clean pub.
Went in late afternoon. The pub was quiet but relaxing. Friendly staff. Recommended.
Fine pub for a pre-match beer if you’re off to the football. Leave early though, as transport links are just as awful as a) the City itself, and b) St Johnstone.
Friday night, pub full, everybody enjoying themselves. Place was buzzing, karaoke in full swing. Great beer, wine. Left at throwing out time, taxi across the road. Wonderful evening.
I was only passing and noticed that it was really busy so I can't really say anything about this place other than in my experience if a place is as busy as this place was then that usually means that the place is quite good and warrants further investigation. I personally don't drink alcohol so would not go into a pub but if you like a tipple or two then it would benefit you to give it a try.
What a great pub, staff are lovely, great they all wear the kilt when working. Prices are very reasonable. Karaoke is very busy, also a great atmosphere. Looking forward to going back.
