Quick Facts About The Clock Cafe
The Clock Cafe, located in Scarborough, is a place that has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. One of the main strengths mentioned by multiple reviewers is the view from the cafe. It is described as "outstanding" and "beautiful," allowing customers to enjoy the scenic sights of South Bay and the harbor. This stunning view adds to the overall pleasant vibe and ambience of the place.
Another strength highlighted by customers is the cafe's menu. According to one reviewer, the menu has grown massively over the years, offering a wide variety of food options. From full meals to light bites, the cafe caters to different preferences and appetite levels. This variety is seen as a positive aspect as it ensures there is something for everyone. Additionally, the prices are described as fantastic, with one customer mentioning their £10.25 meal that included a tuna salad sandwich, scone with jam and cream, and a pot of tea. The affordable prices allow customers to enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
The staff at The Clock Cafe also receive positive feedback, with multiple reviews mentioning their friendliness and helpfulness. This is considered a strength as it enhances the overall customer experience, making visitors feel welcomed and well-assisted. The staff's positive attitude contributes to the pleasant atmosphere of the cafe.
Furthermore, the location of The Clock Cafe is noted as a strength. It is close to the Italian gardens, which are described as a "dead nice place for a stroll." Being in close proximity to such a scenic and enjoyable area allows customers to combine their visit to the cafe with a pleasant walk, adding to the overall experience.
On the other hand, there are some weaknesses mentioned by reviewers that should be taken into consideration. One common weakness mentioned is the need to bring cash. It is indicated that the cafe does not accept card payments, which may inconvenience some customers who prefer to pay electronically. This requirement for cash is seen as a drawback in today's increasingly cashless society.
Another weakness mentioned is the cafe's lack of adaptation to modern times. One reviewer mentions that the cafe feels like it has not changed much since the eighties. While some customers may appreciate the throwback atmosphere, others may find it outdated and prefer a more contemporary setting. The cafe's failure to keep up with current trends and preferences may limit its appeal to a younger audience seeking modern and trendy cafes.
The quality of the coffee is also highlighted as a weakness by one reviewer who describes it as "dire." This signifies that the cafe may not excel in the beverage department, making it less appealing to coffee enthusiasts and those who prioritize a good cup of coffee.
Additionally, while the food is generally described as delicious, one reviewer thinks that the scone was good but the coffee was subpar. This inconsistency in food quality and drink offerings may be considered a weakness as it undermines the overall dining experience.
Lastly, there is a comment regarding the netting on windows obstructing the view. Although this may seem like a minor issue, it is still a weakness as it prevents customers from fully enjoying the picturesque view while sitting inside the cafe.
In conclusion, The Clock Cafe has several strengths that contribute to its appeal. The outstanding view, wide menu selection, affordable prices, friendly staff, and convenient location make it an attractive choice for many visitors. However, there are also weaknesses to consider, such as the requirement for cash, lack of modernization, below-average coffee, inconsistency in food quality, and obstructed view due to netting. Recognizing and addressing these weaknesses could help improve the overall experience and appeal of The Clock Cafe.

Sehr schön.
It’s certainly a throwback, but a genuine treat because of it. The views are outstanding and the place is a real pleasant vibe.
Feels like not much has changed here since the eighties; the brews are proper, the tray bakes and cakes are a perfect accompaniment.
Worth the trip and close to the Italian gardens, which are a dead nice place for a stroll.
Like plenty of others have mentioned, remember to bring cash.
Haven’t been here for 5 years but thought I would give it another go. Pleased I did as the menu has grown massively, the staff are really nice & helpful & the prices are fantastic! For £10.25 I had tuna salad sandwich with coleslaw & crisps, scone with jam & cream & a pot of tea. Great views over South Bay & the only thing I would say is the netting on the windows could do with taking down so you can make the most of the view when sitting inside. Highly recommended.
Excellent cafe with very nice food ether full meals or light bites
Very large pot of tea with extra water and the views are excellent looking over the bay and harbour
Lovely surroundings and friendly staff at the cafe
Nice views of the bay and the Italian gardens nearby
Delicious food and a beautiful view, what more could you want in a seaside cafe
Ok so, the view is spectacular but it doesn't feel like this place has moved with the times much. I had a good scone but the coffee was dire, definitely avoid that. The prices are very competitive but it's your standard cafe fare.
Every time l visit Scarborough l always make a point of visiting The Clock Cafe. The views over Scarborough from there are lovely. The food is great and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
