Very pleasant Landlady, good ales well kept. Very clean and cosy. Enjoyed by lots of fell walkers. Well worth a visit. Didn't eat or stay here but talking to people who have it's very good and reasonably priced.

Tuesday lunchtime - empty, cold, smelt of wet dog, no veggie/vegan food. BUT the staff were very helpful and directed us to another local place. This was our third attempt to find a Saddleworth pub that did cater for 'minorities' - it looks as though places in the area need to rethink their menus.

Stopped in for a night whiles walking the Pennine way. Such a warm atmosphere in a proper pub delivered by proper people who went out their way to give us a great stay! Had a jolly old time sinking more delicious beers than we should of but soaked it up with some amazing food, the best steak pie on earth I’m sure! This place will not disappoint, only problem is it’s to far from my home to visit regularly ????
