Quick Facts About The Dominican Styles Hair Salon
The Dominican Styles Hair Salon has a number of strengths that can be seen from the comments provided. Firstly, the salon seems to have skilled hairstylists who are able to handle different types of hair, including thin hair and long thick hair. Martina, one of the stylists at the salon, is explicitly mentioned as being amazing and professional with all hair types. This showcases the versatility of the stylists at The Dominican Styles Hair Salon.
Additionally, the salon is praised for its attention to detangling and taking the time to care for the hair. One customer mentions that their hair was in bad shape and the salon took the time to detangle it and provide good advice on hair care. This attention to detail and care for the customer's hair shows a commitment to excellent service.
The salon is also commended for its ability to provide quick and neat hairstyles. Many customers mention that their hair lasted for a significant amount of time without needing much maintenance. This indicates that the stylists at the salon are skilled at creating hairstyles that are long-lasting and require minimal upkeep.
Another strength of The Dominican Styles Hair Salon is its ability to handle children's hair. Several comments mention that the salon is gentle and patient when working with young customers. This is important as it creates a positive experience for both the child and the parent.
Furthermore, the salon is praised for its affordability. One customer mentions that they paid $90 in total for their hair and their daughter's hair, which they felt was a reasonable price. This suggests that the salon offers competitive prices for its services.
Despite these strengths, there are also some weaknesses that can be inferred from the comments. One customer mentions that the salon is "scissor happy" and tends to cut more hair than expected. This suggests that the stylists may not always accurately interpret the customer's desired haircut. Additionally, another customer mentions that they were not impressed with the styling and felt that they had to redo their hair once they got home. This indicates that the salon may not consistently deliver the desired hairstyle.
Another weakness mentioned is the inconsistency in pricing. One customer felt that they were overcharged compared to others who paid a lower amount for the same service. This suggests that the pricing structure at the salon may not be transparent or consistently applied.
One extremely negative comment highlights several weaknesses of the salon. The individual describes their experience as a "nightmare" and mentions a number of issues, such as the stylist not being available despite a confirmed appointment, improper handling of their child's afro hair, discomfort during the hair washing process, and a poor blow-drying technique. These issues suggest a lack of professionalism, expertise, and customer service.
In conclusion, The Dominican Styles Hair Salon has strengths such as skilled stylists who can handle various types of hair, attention to detangling and hair care, long-lasting hairstyles, affordability, and a gentle approach with children's hair. However, the salon also has weaknesses including inconsistency in styling results, potential overcharging, and negative experiences with specific stylists.

Martina was AMAZING!!! Not everyone knows how to blow dry my hair as it’s very thin and needs a lot of heat. My daughter loved how she handled her long thick hair. She didn’t get upset once while getting her hair blowed dried. Definitely a must visit Dominican Salon. She’s a professional will all types of hair. Was at the salon long enough to witness different hair textures. If you want a nice natural style without burning your hair, come see Martina.
My experience was great my hair was in really bad shape they took their time to detangle it I usually go to Harlet and I’m glad I came on a Thursday wasn’t a long wait and the place was very clean she even gave me good advice how to care for my hair Dominicans are the best when it comes to hair care. I’m really glad I tried this place . My sister wants to try her now lol ???? she is awesome ????
This place is pretty legit. Went in few weeks ago for the first time . I went there on a weekday to make it go faster. They make miracles happen with a hot blow dryer and a round brush. Didn't smell any relaxer which is great. They could probably do without the hard brushing at the shampoo. Hair may last two weeks with little to no maintenance. They will have your hair blowing in the wind. The only thing they're pretty scissor happy there. Everything was cool and smooth though. Good to go if you need something neat and quick.
The guy did my daughter hair and blew it out well! She came back in 2 weeks and Martina did it! Very nice bounce and shine; no perm needed thanks!!!
I called this morning to get my hair washed blow dried and ends clipped…. Also my daughters hair washed and blow dried! They lady to me come right in. I had a very good experience. They were very gentle with my daughters and they left happy. I $90 all together but I feel like my daughters should have been a little cheaper than mine but other than that great experience and my hair looks good.
Martina is very attentive and really quick when I comes to getting your hair done. This salon caters to natural hair. A recommend the Dominican blowout. I just love her.
I went in for a rap. Not good styling; It’s ok if you want a quick wash and blow dry. You’ll have to rap and style when you get home.
I’m also not impressed with paying $65 for a wash and flat iron When everyone else paid $60 (not sure what that was about).
I won’t go back, not impressed with the work, but glad I tried something new!
This is NOT how Dominicans do the hair. I just moved to Michigan and was so happy to find a Dominican Salon even if I have to drive 35-40min to get there. I called a Monday and talked with Martina, who told me I didn’t need an appointment just have to get there early and she explained her schedule. On Wednesday I showed up with my kids at 11am to do our hairs. The first thing she told me when we got there was: I’m not working today, I’m taking care of something and I need to be there. After some minutes, she decided to work on us and started working on my son’s afro hair. I asked her to cut his ending after washing his hair, but she cut half of his hair’s length while washing it because it was easier to detangle. I mean, who does that? If you have a least a basic knowledge about haircuts you will know how to manage an Afro and obviously avoid to cut it that way. After her disaster a barber who was sharing the space with her helped us shaping his afro. Now it was my time. First the hair washing sink is old, is not ergonomic, you feel pain on your neck for the position you have to sit or get wet. Then the blow dry.... this is a nightmare. She doesn’t know how to do it properly, your hair looks frizzy, that’s why she use the flat iron and lot of oil serum after. A Dominican blow out usually left your hair nice, with volume and beautiful, you wouldn’t need a flat iron. But here she pulls your hair so hard that you get migraines and neck pain. Is what we call: “un salón de campo” when the staff doesn’t have a proper knowledge and they do whatever they learned by watching somebody else. There are more Dominican’s salon in Detroit, definitely with better staff like Harlets salon. Don’t go to this place!
