Best TL Reviews

Well worth it.
Excellent menu variety, clean tables, super friendly staff and swift service.
Large portion and reasonable prices. Tables seated with plenty of room and not cramped.
Car park is opposite it which is easy to miss.
Highly recommend.
This simply is the best place for a Sunday lunch. The meat was perfect and the veg lovely. I know the layout is not the best and there's no bitter on draft but the food and staff are top drawer. Treat yourself to a Sunday dinner you will never forget.
Popped in Saturday evening whilst visiting my mum nearby and wow we certainly weren’t disappointed! The food was fabulous. One of the best fish pies I’ve had for years and the home made chips were to die for. Very generous portions so as much as I tried I couldn’t finish it all sadly. Can’t wait to go back and try something else off the menu next trip ????
Visited Saturday night with my husband to be and after reading a few bad reviews I was a little nervous but I really needed not to be, it was quiet and we sat in the conservatory. Nice warm fire going in the bar we ordered the fish pie and steak and ale pie.. it arrived after a long wait but omg was it worth it. Huge portions the fish pie was full of salmon, cod ( I think) and 3 king prawns topped with cheesy mash, chips and peas on the side, steak pie was full of steak and yummy gravy and huge pastry on top. It was delicious ???? all menus are on boards as they change often. Good Shiras wine and a double gin with mixer £6.50 lots of choice in gins. Service was friendly too.Overall we were amazed we will definitely be returning soon.

Most amazing home cooked food! Never had a bad meal their food is delicious.
I’m afraid my review is not good. I made a booking for a table of 7 earlier in the afternoon. Upon arrival I noticed a board outside the entrance stating that on some days of the week it was two main courses for the price of one. That sounded like a good deal. Sat at our table and quite promptly a young waitress appeared and asked what we would like to drink. So far so good. We received the drinks and waited for the menus to brought to the table. We must have waited ten minutes. I then asked the waitress and was informed that the menu was in the other room on a board against the wall. This should have been pointed out when the drinks were brought ti the table. Two of our party have mobility problems so another person with us took a photograph of the main course board. This board must have been about five feet tall. The top half explaining the ‘rules’ of qualification for the two for one deal. You had to buy a drink, alcoholic or soft drink, and if there was an odd number in your party, one would have to pay the full price.
There were about five to six boards around the bar area showing starters, mains, desserts, champagne offers, etc. This was too much to view on a smart phone, so each of our party had to physically look for themselves. I was shocked at the prices. Fish & chips & mushy peas £18 - Steak £30 - Burger £18. However, when you divide by two because of the offer, then the price was pretty good. Unfortunately, I don’t think the offer of two for one applied to everyday of the week. At those advertised prices, I expected the food to be top notch. It wasn’t. I had belly pork with medallions of pork and pulled pork, with chips and salad! Never had it with salad before and rarely with chips. Mashed potato perhaps would be a better option. Three of our meals were overcooked, including mine. We had two vegetarians in our group and the choice was very limited to a couple of fish dishes. If they had been vegan, there would not have been anything suitable. We were told that if we had told them sooner, they could have got something in for us! One of our party had a one year old child and when we asked a waitress if they had baby changing facilities, she replied that she didn’t know. Didn’t offer to go and find out. The young lady behind the bar was very good but unfortunately the two very young waitresses were inexperienced and uninformed. Perhaps we caught them on a bad night but none of us will be returning there.
