Quick Facts About The Golden Eagle PH

The Golden Eagle PH has received mixed reviews from customers. While some have praised the pub for its traditional feel, excellent value food and drink, and friendly service, others have criticized the quality of the food and the lack of staff during their visit. These comments reveal both strengths and weaknesses of the establishment.
One of the strengths of The Golden Eagle PH is its traditional feel, which many customers have appreciated. The pub is described as having a lovely, friendly atmosphere, making it a welcoming place to spend time. Additionally, the pub is located in a quiet rural area, which adds to its charm and appeal.
The value and quality of the food and drink at The Golden Eagle PH have also been praised by some customers. They have described the prices as reasonable and the food as top quality. The pub offers a range of beers, wines, and spirits, which are all reasonably priced, starting at £4 a pint. Some customers have expressed anticipation for the relaunch of the food menu, indicating that the pub is making efforts to improve in this area.
Furthermore, the pub has recently come under new management, which has brought about positive changes. The new landlord is described as welcoming and has started to put their stamp on the establishment. This suggests that there may be improvements and updates in various aspects of the pub, such as the menu and overall experience.
However, there are also weaknesses that have been highlighted by customer comments. One consistent issue is the quality of the food. Some customers have expressed disappointment with their meals, describing them as poor or not up to standard. One customer even compared the meat in their Sunday lunch to sandwich meat warmed up in a microwave, calling it "horrible" and not worth the money. Another customer mentioned that their vegetarian option was substituted without prior notice. These comments indicate that the kitchen may need to work on consistency and quality control.
A lack of staff and a closed kitchen during specific times were also mentioned as weaknesses. Some customers have reported visiting the pub when there was no one available to cook, resulting in disappointment and disrupted plans. Additionally, one customer mentioned that the place was empty with only one staff member serving. This lack of staffing may have contributed to a less-than-optimal experience for some customers and could be an area that needs improvement in order to ensure efficient and effective service.
It is worth noting that these comments reflect individual experiences and opinions, and that the strengths and weaknesses mentioned may not be consistent for all customers. However, they do provide a valuable insight into the areas that the pub could focus on to improve and maintain its reputation.

Would of have 0 if I could because the food was bad! It was a lovely friendly pub drinks an service ok. However, we will never return. Ordered Sunday lunch the meat seems like sandwich meat warmed up in microwave. Just horrible not worth the money wish we went mcdonalds!
Excellent country pub! Traditional feel. Food and drink are excellent value and top quality. I'd happily recommend The Golden Eagle.
Quiet rural pub with a single cask ale available in excellent condition worth, a second one
UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! Excellent welcoming pub with a great range of beers, wines and spirits, all reasonably priced starting at £4 a pint. Place is clean and tidy, already the new landlord is putting his stamp on things, looking forward to the relaunch of the food menu later on this month but in the meantime it's a great place for a convivial pint and a chat.
Really pleased the Golden Eagle is open under new management. This lovely village pub has been given a new lease of life. Good value beer prices and a new menu coming this month. The Eagle has struggled over the past couple of years, not helped by the pandemic, but the future is bright ????
The are doing fantastic Caribbean food with Ales to takeway from a funky trailer in the carpark. The jerk chicken is out of this world, fill your boots!
This pub has a lot of potential to be a great, little place for the family to enjoy. It is not very big inside, but has a nice garden. We recently dined there as a group of seven, and had an evening meal. The standard of the food was variable. My cod and chips was nice but my daughter's vegetarian choice was poor. It was supposed to be lasagna but this had been substituted for aubergine. Despite some of the dishes not being up to standard on the evening, it was a relaxing and comfortable place to spend a few hours.
Difficult to rate properly as the Thursday lunchtime we visited there was no one to cook and the kitchen was closed, this being 1pm.
Actually the young man serving seemed to be the only staff around. The pub was empty apart from the three of us, which was sad but we stayed for one drink and the beer was ok.
We understand it as recently changed hands so hopefully things will pick up, in times past I remember it being very popular with locals and visitors alike, we'll try again when we're in the area again as the menu looked promising but needs effort from all concerned if its going to be successful
