Quick Facts About The Grange Chocolate Cafe
The Grange Chocolate Cafe has received a variety of comments, both positive and negative, that provide insights into its strengths and weaknesses. In this analysis, we will examine the strengths and weaknesses of the cafe based on the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, several positive aspects of the cafe can be identified. Firstly, the cafe offers a good selection of breakfast items and hot drinks, particularly hot chocolate, which is highly recommended by customers. Additionally, the breakfast menu provides classic options such as sausages, bacon, and pancakes, satisfying customers' cravings for traditional breakfast items. This shows that the cafe caters to different tastes and preferences. Furthermore, the cafe has a nice selection of cakes, ensuring that customers have a variety of sweet treats to choose from.
Another strength mentioned by customers is the good service provided by the cafe. Customers appreciate the attentive and efficient service, allowing them to enjoy their meals and drinks without any issues. Additionally, the cafe is not too busy, making it easy for customers to find a table whenever they visit. This contributes to a pleasant dining experience, as customers do not have to wait for a long time to be seated.
The reasonable pricing of the cafe is also seen as a strength. Despite being located in a craft village, the cafe is described as reasonably priced. This is a positive aspect for customers, as it allows them to enjoy quality food and beverages without emptying their wallets. Moreover, the cafe has good outside space, which customers can enjoy when the weather is favorable. This feature adds to the overall ambiance of the cafe and provides customers with an option to dine outdoors.
Moving on to the weaknesses, some areas for improvement can be identified based on the negative comments. One recurring complaint is the long wait time for food. Customers have mentioned that it can take a significant amount of time for their orders to be served, which can be frustrating. This indicates that the cafe may be understaffed or experiencing issues with efficiency in the kitchen.
Furthermore, some customers feel that the cafe is overbusy, which may further contribute to the long wait times. This could also be an indicator of the cafe's popularity with the locals, as mentioned by one customer. While popularity can be seen as a strength, it becomes a weakness when it results in overcrowding and slow service.
Another weakness mentioned by a few customers is the high price of certain items. One customer specifically mentioned that they paid £8 for a panini and crisps but did not receive the crisps, leading to disappointment. This indicates that the cafe may need to reassess its pricing strategy to ensure that customers are receiving good value for their money.
In terms of food quality, there have been some negative comments regarding the chocolate tiffin being too hard and inedible. This suggests that there may be inconsistencies in the preparation and quality control of certain menu items. Such issues can negatively impact the overall dining experience and should be addressed.
The most significant weakness highlighted by a customer was the poor service experience in comparison to another branch of the cafe in Henley. This customer complained about the lack of prompt service, lack of attentiveness to customer needs, and the absence of dog-friendly amenities. This indicates a lack of consistency in service standards between different branches of the cafe. It is crucial for the cafe to ensure that all branches provide a similar level of service to maintain customer loyalty.
In conclusion, The Grange Chocolate Cafe has several strengths, including a good breakfast selection, nice cake options, good service, availability of seating, reasonable pricing, and outdoor space. However, there are areas for improvement, such as reducing wait times, addressing food quality issues, reassessing certain prices, and ensuring consistency in service across branches. By addressing these weaknesses, the cafe can further enhance its strengths and provide an improved dining experience for its customers.

Good breakfast and coffee, nice selection of cakes, and good service. Not too busy so can always find a table and reasonably priced for a "craft village". Good outside space when weather allows..
Great little place in a cute craft village, lots of little shops and things to look at, the cafe itself has loads of options for hot drinks particularly hot chocolate ???? ???? breakfast and lunch menu has classic options, sausages bacon etc and pancakes which I recommend.
Food is okay but it can be a long wait, it’s often over busy and under staffed and also very expensive (£8 for a panini and crisps and they forgot the crisps, had to go and ask). I had a chocolate tiffin from here but unfortunately it was so hard it was pretty much inedible, the chocolate had bloomed and gone strangely greasy.
I really enjoy coming to this Café, They serve a good well priced breakfast. Id recommend the eggs benedict. Amazing hot chocolate / pumpkin spiced lattes. Seats are a little hard but you wont be on them for long. Nice environment for a Saturday breakfast but definitely get there for 10 o'clock when they open or it will be busy.
Love the Chocolate Cafe branch in Henley which is 30 min drive away and have been many times with our dog after a walk along the Thames, sampling much of the menu. The Grange is only 5 minutes away, this was our first visit but does not compare favourably to Henley, hopefully the required small improvements can be made to improve so we feel like using this local branch more often.
Firstly in Henley you sit down, view the menu and order/pay at the counter wasting no time. At The Grange a sign directs you to sit down and wait for a waiteress. Literally as we had taken our coats off we were asked for our order but we'd not had a chance to look at the menu so declined. We then waited around 10 minutes but no one came. I eventually went to the counter, there were 6 employees standing at the coffee machine chatting to each other (no one was making any teas/coffees/preparation etc, just chatting). Another employee was at the cash till serving and another employee stood behind her doing nothing - so 8 employees in total for a cafe half full. Meanwhile myself and one other person are stood waiting for service. After a short while I was on the point of walking out when one of the 6 employees finally decided their chat was insufficiently important or engrossing anymore to continue and asked what I wanted. Our order came fairly quickly, my wife having a chocolate nougat drink which was excellent and I went with the cream tea. However I only received the scones/jam/cream and had to ask for a knife. I then realised no tea had arrived so waited a couple of minutes before having to go to the counter to ask for it.
Also in the Henley shop we are usually asked if our dog wants any sausage and they bring a small pot with sausage slices for him. In the Grange there is no such dog friendlyness.
So overall the service was abysmal especially compared to Henley which is excellent but the food we had was comparable. I'd give the Grange another shot but feel it's worth the drive for the better service (for humans and dogs!) at Henley.
Lovely little Coffee Shop, Great service , food came within 10 minutes of ordering.
Jacket potato with cheese and beans and a side salad. Looks
A very popular place with the locals
Sorry to say we won't be visiting again. A gorgeous Sunday morning should be filled with gorgeous cakes and hot coffee! But our experience was lacking. Cold lattes and old and dry coffee cake which should not have have been sold to the public. Such a shame we really wanted to like this place.
Don't bother. They gave our order to someone else and turns out was the last piece of cake, then sold us what they call a freakshake which costs 5 pounds and it came in what I can only compare to a small Costa coffee cup. Don't waste your money. Service was shocking even though they had plenty of staff, like the blind leading the blind. Tables were all filthy outside so we had to sit inside. I am not sure what else to say, completely awful experience. Dummy next to "freakshake" lol for perspective.
