One of the major strengths mentioned by multiple commenters is the landlady of The Griffin. She is described as amazing, looking after her customers, and ensuring their safety at all times. This shows that the landlady is dedicated to creating a positive and friendly atmosphere in the pub, making it an attractive option for many patrons.
Another strength mentioned by a customer is the lively atmosphere of the pub. They highlight that even though it was busy during a rugby match, the staff remained attentive and offered great service. This suggests that The Griffin is capable of handling large crowds and maintaining a good level of customer service even during peak times.
Furthermore, the commenter who visited after having a meal at a local Chinese restaurant had a good experience. They mention that the landlady remembered them from their previous visit and helped in arranging a taxi home. This customer was told they were not welcome due to having a man bag and looking young, despite providing ID upon request. This shows a lack of fair treatment and implies that the pub may not be welcoming to outsiders.
In summary, The Griffin in Mold has mixed reviews regarding its strengths and weaknesses. Brilliant pub, landlady is amazing and looks after her customers.
She doesn’t let ldiots In and gets rid of anyone causing trouble, making sure her customers are safe at all times.
I love coming to this place.
Absolutely awful experience with the people that own this place. The landlord decided to start an argument with me over football in which I was having banta with a friend of a friend and decided to but in. Would absolutely never return here again even though it being my local. I would much rather take my money elsewhere. Extremely rude. I think she just doesn’t like younger people within the pub even though they’re of age. Absolutely disgusting behaviour and I honestly don’t know how she owns a pub.
Called in here after having a meal a the local chineese.
Great pub, with a lively atmosphere, the landlady rememberd us from our last visit just after lockdown. And was very helpful in getting us a taxi home, shame it's not more local to us, as we had a good evening ????
Very busy!!, the night of the rugby between Wales and Scotland!! All seats occupied, many people standing!! Great atmosphere, staff were rushed off their feet, must have been tired, but didn't show it. A good night.
Brilliant pub and staff the landlady does great charity for the local community and gets the customers involved. Mad as a box of frogs but she’s ace.
Being local to the area for many years and having close family members being regulars at this pub the last thing I expected was the welcome we were given, my partner who isn’t local came to visit me where we went for a lovely meal and decided to go meet family at the Griffin. Upon my partner going to get drinks with a family member he was rudely welcomed and discriminated against for wearing a man bag (this isn’t stated anywhere on or outside the premises) and told he could only have one drink and would be closely monitored throughout the night .feeling uncomfortable we only stayed no longer than 45 minutes and he only had ONE drink which we wouldn’t have had only it was a family members purchase. Being a landlord himself back in England he understands the rules and regulations and pays to have SIA licensed doormen to ensure safety of his customers. He provided ID and then told the lady what he had in his bag as she had stated the pub have had troubles previously with drugs hence their reasoning for not allowing people with man bags into the pub .why didn’t she ask myself what I had in my bag as I also had a clutch bag and I feel it’s the same concept.I saw no one else being questioned about their belongings , however I feel this was due to them being locals and feel he was discriminated against. This is very disappointing and upsetting considering this was a favoured pub of most my family.
Ok pub but the blonde land lady how she thinks she can take people drinks of them like she did to me on Saturday even thou I'd paid for it is out of order, she really ruined my night definitely would not recommend there for anyone the blonde land lady what a horrible rude land lord she is
Unfortunately a no from me being told because I have a man bag and look young I was not welcome , now I can understand young people with man bags could possibly have drugs etc however providing ID as requested and then having attitude from staff member was not a welcome I wanted never once did i come across rude a simple unfortunately I’m not going to serve you would of been fine and I would of left . As a non local person it wasn’t a nice experience I guess it’s just a local pub and not so welcoming to outsiders but I must say the customers are nice people hence 2 stars . This is just my experience not to say yours might be the same its all down to personal preferences and your experience within the pub .
