Conversation can vary from quiet to lively.
I am usually able to call in and schedule an appointment for the next business day, although walk-ins will often find an open chair at least within the same day, if not within the hour. I have no preference as to who cuts my hair, as every staff member here has an equal level of expertise and professionalism. Despite having long, thick, curly hair, I'm generally out the door and on with my day in 20 minutes, allowing me to schedule appointments before work without worrying about compromising punctuality.
Despite possessing unrivaled service and flexibility, Hairport is by far the most affordable hairdresser in the area, charging only $22 for a typical men's haircut. This paltry sum includes complimentary tonic and massage, a service other more *corporate* joints consider a rather pricy premium. I always tip around 100% because I feel as though the service I'm provided (which itself never strays even close to "bare minimum") deserves much more than the bare minimum payment.
I have often struggled to find even competent hairstylists, which has often led me to forgoing haircuts for years at a time. Hairport has changed the way I approach cutting my hair, and I will continue to use them exclusively for as long as I am in Iowa City. My recommendation of this business is unqualified.
