Quick Facts About The Manvers Arms

The Manvers Arms has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
One of the strengths mentioned is the cozy and retro ambiance of the pub. This can create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for customers. Additionally, the traditional style of the pub is appreciated by some customers.
Another strength is the quality of the food. Multiple comments mention that the food is delicious and well-cooked. The home-cooked meals are praised for their taste and portion sizes. The Sunday dinner, in particular, is highlighted as being great, with a rating of 4.5/5. The menu has a good selection of options, making it difficult for customers to choose because everything sounds great. The prices are also praised as being well-priced.
The staff are also mentioned positively in some comments. They are described as polite, friendly, and helpful. The staff's dedication is emphasized when one comment mentions how they went above and beyond to help after a customer's nan had a fall. The staff's attentiveness and service are appreciated by customers.
However, there are some weaknesses that are mentioned in the comments as well. One common complaint is the long wait times for food. One comment mentions waiting close to an hour for the food to arrive, and another comment mentions waiting over an hour for a starter. These wait times can be frustrating for customers, especially when they notice other tables being served before them.
Inconsistencies in the service are also mentioned. In one comment, the waitress forgets to give menus to the customers and it appears that there was a lack of communication between staff. This can create a disjointed and unorganized experience for customers.
Accessibility is another weakness mentioned, specifically for customers with mobility challenges. One comment mentions raised bits that made it difficult for a customer's nan to navigate with her walker, and the seated area being far from the disabled toilets. These accessibility issues can be inconvenient and exclude certain customers from fully enjoying their experience.
Another weakness mentioned is the lack of variety in the drink options, specifically red wine. While the food is praised, having a limited selection of certain drinks may disappoint some customers.
In summary, The Manvers Arms has strengths in terms of its cozy ambiance, delicious home-cooked food, and friendly staff. However, weaknesses include long wait times for food, inconsistencies in service, accessibility challenges, and limited drink options. Despite these weaknesses, the quality of the food and positive aspects of the staff make The Manvers Arms a place worth trying.

Sehr gemütlich....echt Retro. Leider am Sonntag kein essen aus der Karte..aber trotzdem sehr gutes Essen
Sunday dinner is great. I'd give it 4.5/5. The only annoying thing is that the stuffing used to be balls, and you could get more than one. If they did a steak pie option with the Sunday lunch, it gets a true 5/5. The main menu stuff on a weekday is also really good.
I took my nan here for a birthday lunch. I liked the pub, it's quite a traditional style with plenty of parking outside which was handy.
It has a good selection of food on the menu which makes it so hard to choose because it all sounds so great. It is really well priced as well. I must admit, we did wait an awfully long time for the food to come out. I think it was close to an hour before it eventually came out. However, the food was delicious. It also was an absolutely huge portion that I couldn't finish. To be honest, I don't think any of us managed to clear our plates.
Unfortunately, my nan had a fall on the way out. I don't think it was the fault of the pub though, there wasn't anything for her to fall over. The staff were truly amazing, and tried their best to help that made a huge difference. My only criticism is that there are a few raised bits that my nan struggled to get her walker over, and where we were sat was really far from the disabled toilets. But I don't think that can be helped.
Embarrassingly, in the heat of the moment with my nan falling, we all completely forgot to leave a tip! So we will definitely be back, and will definitely be tipping the great service.
Really good home cooked food. I had cauliflower bhaji with pickle and raita, followed by haddock and chips in beer batter and it was totally delicious!!! The portions are huge as well. Definitely one to try. If I was being critical, only one type of red wine but otherwise absolutely superb.
Lovely staff and delicious food. Went after work today and had two courses and I couldn't fault it.
Foods always been really really good, staff have always been polite and friendly and pretty helpful, place is really good and became one we frequently visit.
when it's busy this place seems to crack so I'd suggest finding the quiet times and go then, I know it's not easy when it's hectic but 2 tables who came in after was served first and we had to mention we had ordered then still left waiting for quite some time over 1 hour a bit much for a starter.
For really nice good it's a lovely little place, and like I said staff are spot on.
We will always avoid busy times or Sundays from now on but can't knock the food at all.
We had to ask for menus even though other tables had been given them before us,they arrived after we were seated. On asking the waitress she said I thought you had already placed your order.Other tables got their food before us that had ordered after us,it seems there was a lack of communication between staff. No one seemed to be organising the staff we waited an hour for our food to arrive. Some one came to say sorry for the delay there was a problem in the kitchen this was after we had finished our meal she also stated they were busy with a large party in the other room.If they knew they were really busy more staff should of been put on it appeared the party was given most of the attention. We had booked our table 2 weeks previously not just turned up.The food however was quite nice, please sort out your staff so everything runs smoothly.
Best Sunday lunch I've had in a long time. I've been twice now and will definitely be back again.
The staff could do with a bit more training. The waitress couldn't answer our questions and wasn't very friendly.
