The Queen Vic Fish & Chips in Chorley seems to have a few strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, one recurring positive aspect mentioned by multiple customers is the generous portion size of the chips. It is noted that the portion sizes at The Queen Vic Fish & Chips are by far the largest in Chorley. This is seen as a strength because customers feel they are getting good value for their money. Additionally, customers also mention that the chips taste good, which adds to the overall positive experience.
Another strong point mentioned by customers is the quality of the fish. It is praised for being impeccable and having a nice batter. This indicates that The Queen Vic Fish & Chips pays attention to the quality of their ingredients and the preparation of their fish.
The mushy peas also receive positive feedback as being good, suggesting that the side dishes served at the establishment are of satisfactory quality. Furthermore, customers appreciate the larger sauce pots provided with their orders in comparison to other chip shops. This attention to detail is seen as a strength, as customers feel they are getting more value and convenience from their condiments.
Customers also mention that The Queen Vic Fish & Chips appears clean and hygienic. Cleanliness is crucial for any food establishment, and the fact that customers specifically comment on it indicates that this is a strength of the business. Additionally, the staff is consistently praised for providing a warm welcome, which creates a positive customer experience.
Despite these strengths, there are some weaknesses mentioned in the comments as well. One customer mentions that the gravy and curry sauce are a letdown, resulting in a 4-star rating. This suggests that there is room for improvement in the quality of the condiments provided by The Queen Vic Fish & Chips.
Another customer mentions a negative experience when ordering with a large group. They mention waiting for over half an hour to receive their order, which was seen sitting on the counter for at least 15 minutes. This indicates that there might be inefficiencies in how the establishment manages orders during busy periods. Additionally, they note that telephone orders seem to take preference over walk-in orders, which can create a sense of unfair treatment for customers who are physically present at the shop.
Another customer shares a declining experience over multiple visits, stating that the food has tasted like it was "out of a bin" on their most recent visits. This suggests a lack of consistency in the quality of the food at The Queen Vic Fish & Chips. They also mention that the chips were very dry and lacking potato, indicating inconsistency in the preparation of their signature dish.
One customer mentions that the chips had little taste and that the customer service was not brilliant. This indicates a potential weakness in the flavors and overall service provided by The Queen Vic Fish & Chips.
Lastly, a customer notes that the fish has been shrinking in size and that the batter has been getting thicker. This suggests a decline in quality and consistency regarding the preparation of the fish.
In conclusion, The Queen Vic Fish & Chips in Chorley has several strengths, including generous portion sizes, good-tasting chips, quality fish with a nice batter, good mushy peas, larger sauce pots, cleanliness, and warm welcoming staff. However, there are also some weaknesses, such as a letdown in gravy and curry sauce, inefficiencies in managing large orders, inconsistency in the quality of food, dry and tasteless chips, declining fish quality, and thickening batter. It is important for the business to address these weaknesses in order to maintain and improve customer satisfaction.

By far the most generous portion size of chips in Chorley, and they taste good too! Good fish too with a nice batter. Good mushy peas and the sauce pots are bigger than other chippies give you.
The gravy and curry sauce are a little bit of a let down hence the 4 stars.
The place seems clean and hygienic and the staff always give you a warm welcome.
This is our "go-to" chippy even though it's not the closest to us.
Came here with a large group of scouts last week and it was amazing! Tonight we waited for over half an hour for our order which we saw sitting on the counter for at least 15 minutes, chips were not the best when we got home :( shame as it was fresh and fab last week. Not sure we would be back after tonight’s experience, it seems telephone orders take preference over walk in orders seeing the number of people who were served while we waited.
I have to say the first time I went this chippy the food was good the fish was impeccable and the chips good.
However the last three visits to yourselves the food to be honest tastes it was out of a bin the chips very dry and no potatoe inside, very poor hence your good reviews.
Will not be returning.
Had fish & chips from here, the chips didn’t really have much taste and the customer service wasn’t brilliant.
Must say the large portion of chips could feed 4/5 people so bear that in mind when buying
Used to be best chippy for miles,, now the fish are shrinking and the batter getting thicker.
Portions large, even the small ones. Staff wonderful
