Just had an amazing carvery! Hot, tasty and plenty of it! I’m quite fussy when it comes to a meal and loved this! Can highly recommend. Not overly seasoned and catered for even the fussiest of eaters. Lovely setting, lovely company and the pub was warm and cosy. Will definitely be back! Pity the carvery is only served on a Sunday as could eat this everyday ????.
Yesterday Ann-Marie and her fantastic team hosted our wedding. From the moment we met to the actual day, she could not do enough. From helping us with the menu to decorating the room. What can we say about the food, we'll it was not pub grub it was outstanding, and the presentation was faultless. I am so glad we were let down by our previous venue. We would highly recommend the Red Lion for any family event. Thank you, Ann-Marie, and your wonderful team once again. Mari and Andy
Just had a lovely meal with my family here, after travelling all the way from Northumberland and finding the hotel we were staying at could not accommodate us to eat.
The lovely Teagan sorted us a table for six at a moments notice even though they were very busy, they were all very welcoming to us all.
The service was amazing throughout and the staff couldn’t do enough for us, nothing was a bother. The food was outstanding.
Me and my daughter had the cream of tomato soup, and I have to say it was absolutely banging, my husband had the patè which was out of this world. My boys and youngest daughter all had different combinations of garlic bread, one was plain, one was cheesy garlic bread and one was cheesey bread, all which came out well presented and was soon turned in to empty plates.
For mains my youngest had the kids fish and chips, which was very plentiful, my husband and eldest son both had lasagne, which they thoroughly enjoyed but could not finish as it was quite large, my youngest son and eldest daughter had the Sunday lunch which was huge, even the children’s size was huge and delicious and I had the scampi - oh my lord the home made chips were absolutely lush.
I cannot recommend this place enough it’s an absolute diamond, I’m just gutted we live so far away otherwise we would visit all the time.
Thank you so much to Teagan and the team for making our visit so fantastic. Five stars from us.
Such a gem. Decided to eat here as it looks so beautifully lit from the outside, it really caught our eye. The inside is so homely and cozy with a real fire, a very welcoming team with Anne-Marie and her husband Shaun. It was so lovely to have a chat with them. The food was just amazing! We both had fish and chips while our little one had nuggets and chips. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we are grateful that they made our dining out a good experience as our son has autism. Highly recommend!
Firstly, I would like to thank the owners. They went over & above for me personally. Let's be honest as a pescatarian, gluten free pain in the a@#... I really appreciated the effort that went into my meal. Having visited the pub previously they made me feel incredibly welcome & spent time discussing my needs. Their thoughtfulness and effort meant I could happily spend Christmas day, eating with my family.
The atmosphere was brilliant... we had 2 children in our party. They enjoyed themselves & it was relaxed and welcoming... We enjoyed a game of Christmas pool, not something we'd done before. A genuine thank you from us & I hope you had a very happy Christmas ???? See you in the new year ????
Sunday carvery, enjoyed our lunch, wide choice of meats and veg .The beef looked a bit too pink for my taste, and the chef offered to slice a portion and give a few more minutes,
cooking time the result was perfectly to my tastes waitress staff polite helpfull and friendly We were impressed by the chef who came to each of the tables for the customers views on the food served . Would certainly return fir another visit .Good luck Red lion in the future
My sisters and I loved everything about the place. Traditional building, great interior, very friendly and welcoming owners and a traditional pub menu.
We really enjoyed the food and the service was great. We’ve put it on our list of places to go to have a leisurely, tasty lunch. ????????????
We went on Saturday, I can honestly say this was the worst meal and experience we have received in any restaurant. Serving our food while holding the plates with blue roll, hot plates for starters even though they were served with salads, we had to ask for cutlery after our starters, mains were 2 mixed grills just about edible and 2 mushroom tagliatelle that couldn't be eaten at all, no seasoning and the sauce was congealed and gloopy, no food check during our meal. When plates were taken away I explained why they couldn't be eaten to which the owner replied 'that's usually alright'. One meal was taken off the bill but I'm afraid we won't be returning.
