Quick Facts About Cafe 53
Cafe 53 has received a mix of positive and negative feedback from its customers. The strengths of the cafe include friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, good coffee, a pleasant atmosphere, and a wide selection of motorbikes to observe. On the other hand, the weaknesses include long waits, tough and gristly sausages, inconsistent service, strict breakfast hours, uncomfortable chairs, expensive dairy-free hot chocolate, and overcharging for oat milk.
One of the major strengths of Cafe 53 is its friendly and helpful staff. Customers have consistently praised the staff for their positive attitude and willingness to assist. This contributes to creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for visitors. Additionally, customers have complimented the delicious food and good coffee served at the cafe, indicating that the quality of the menu items is a notable strength.
Moreover, the cafe's atmosphere is appreciated by patrons who enjoy sitting and watching the bikers come in. The availability of a large selection of bikes for observation adds to the unique and appealing ambiance of the cafe. Customers also appreciate that the sales staff remembers them and engages in conversation, even when they are not interested in making a purchase.
However, despite these strengths, there are some weaknesses that need to be addressed. One recurring complaint is the long wait times for orders, as mentioned by a customer who had to wait a significant amount of time for a sausage and bacon sandwich. Another weakness is the inconsistency of service, with some customers expressing disappointment in the staff's lack of attentiveness and exceptions made for time-sensitive requests.
The seating arrangement at Cafe 53 is criticized for not being suitable for customers with back issues, as the chairs lack adequate support. This can be problematic for individuals who require a comfortable seating option. Additionally, the high cost of dairy-free hot chocolate has been noted as a drawback, suggesting that the cafe could benefit from reevaluating their pricing strategy for special dietary requirements.
Another weakness highlighted by a customer is the strict breakfast hours, as they were refused service just seconds after the breakfast cut-off time. This lack of flexibility can leave a negative impression on customers who may expect some leniency, especially for a few seconds' delay.
Furthermore, overcharging for oat milk has been a source of dissatisfaction. Customers have expressed frustration at the extra cost added for this milk alternative, which could be seen as an unethical practice and a deterrent for those seeking lactose-free options.
In conclusion, Cafe 53 has various strengths, including friendly staff, delicious food, good coffee, a pleasant atmosphere, and a wide selection of motorbikes to observe. However, areas for improvement include reducing wait times, providing better customer service consistency, improving seating options for comfort, reevaluating pricing strategies for special dietary requirements, and offering more flexibility in breakfast hours. Addressing these weaknesses would enhance the overall customer experience at Cafe 53.

We had such a lovely breakfast at Cafe 53, the staff were so friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. The food was delicious and the coffee was really good! Highly recommend! Thank you to the whole team.
Nice place but gets busy late morning. Chairs not good if you have a bad back. Bring a cushion.
Hot chocolate dairy free very expensive!..
Good service. Nice staff.
Really disappointed in the food and service here today. Such a long wait for sausage and bacon sandwich and not very busy!! The sausage skins were really tough and stringy and the meat full of gristle. Will not be going back any time soon. For £22.00 including drinks.....appalled.
Love it. Love it. Love it.
Good cuppa, good food nothing fancy or greasy and great to sit and watch all the bikers come in. Massive selection of bikes again good service and the sales guys always recognise you and talk to you even though you may not want to buy anything. We often ride upto bridges from Kingsbridge (on a nice day obviously) have lunch waste a couple of hours and ride home. Even if you aren't into motorbikes it's a lovely place to be and with family too.
Got there a few seconds after 12:00, was told breakfast was only served until 12. What a joke, couldn't even make an exception for us as we were only a few seconds late.
We've eaten here many times in the past and like the bikes and atmosphere. Just a shame the service was so bad today.
I had a mug of tea as soon as we arrived. I had a bacon sausage and egg roll and a mug of tea. They gave me my tea first so I had 2 mugs of tea now. To say I was annoyed was an understatement. I had to give one away. The staff should be more attentive with their customers.
£4.30 for a flat white with oat milk, really? £3.30 for a standard flat white. A POUND for adding oat milk???
You're my local cafe and I would rather choose a local cafe over a national chain EVERY DAY, but not if you're over-charging.
A lovely stop for a spot of lunch and a coffee. Tasty cakes, good facilities ( pram and baby friendly) with a big decking outside.
