Quick Facts About The Southcliffe Hotel, Bridlington
The Southcliffe Hotel in Bridlington has received a mix of positive and negative comments, which provide insights into its strengths and weaknesses. Despite some negative feedback, there are several strengths highlighted by customers.
One of the main strengths of The Southcliffe Hotel is its excellent service. Customers consistently mention the friendly and helpful staff, who go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience. They even offer assistance to guests with mobility issues, such as pushing wheelchairs up ramps. This level of service contributes to a positive overall impression and encourages repeat visits.
The quality of the food is another strength mentioned in customer reviews. Guests have praised the delicious breakfast, which uses quality produce and is served quickly. The dinner menu also receives positive feedback, with customers noting that the meals are cooked freshly and served promptly. Additionally, the Sunday roast is highlighted as great value for money, indicating that the pricing is reasonable compared to the quality of the food.
The hotel's location is also seen as a strength by customers. Being situated in central Bridlington is seen as a convenient advantage, making it easily accessible for visitors. This proximity enhances the overall experience, as guests can explore the local area without any hassle.
However, there are also weaknesses identified by customers that reflect areas that need improvement. One recurring theme is the cleanliness and overall condition of the hotel. Multiple customers mention that the establishment appears dirty and run-down. This suggests a lack of attention to maintenance and cleanliness standards, which can have a negative impact on the overall experience and impression of the hotel.
Another weakness highlighted by customers is the hotel's lack of accommodation for people with food intolerances or dietary preferences, such as being vegetarian or vegan. This limitation can alienate potential customers who require specific dietary options and may discourage them from visiting. It also indicates a lack of willingness to cater to a diverse range of customers, which can be seen as a negative attitude.
A specific incident is mentioned in one review where a customer's complaint about a dish was met with an unsatisfactory response. The bar staff member dismissed the complaint, stating that he was not responsible for the food. This lack of accountability and willingness to address customer concerns reflects poorly on the establishment's overall customer service.
Furthermore, there are instances where customers have experienced issues with their orders. Missing items, such as a child's meal, have been reported, indicating lapses in communication and attention to detail by the staff. These incidents can negatively impact the dining experience, making customers feel dissatisfied and unlikely to return.
In summary, The Southcliffe Hotel in Bridlington has strengths in its excellent service, quality food, and convenient location. However, there are weaknesses related to cleanliness, limited dietary options, and occasional issues with orders and customer service. Addressing these weaknesses would greatly contribute to maximizing customer satisfaction and improving the overall experience at the hotel.

Great service as always. Delicious breakfast with quality produce and was served quickly. Staff are always friendly and helpful, we come here most weeks and definitely recommend it. We have also had dinner here several times and it has always been served quickly and you can taste that they use quality produce for all meals. They even offer to help push my wheelchair up the ramp to their back room and, believe me, pushing me is no mean feat!
Great value for your money for a excellent Sunday roast. Great choice of different things on the menu to choose from. Nice staff, and a great choice of delicious desserts. Well worth visiting if ever in central Bridlington.
Great location but dirty and run down. If you have food allergies or are veggie or vegan then don't visit here because they don't cater for anyone with any kind of food intolerance and have the attitude that they don't care either. Shame this place could be amazing
