Quick Facts About The Sow & Pigs

The Sow & Pigs place has received mostly positive comments, indicating that it has several strengths. These include the quality of the food, the friendly staff, and the pleasant atmosphere. However, there are also a few weaknesses mentioned, including limited ale options and issues with management attitude and certain aspects of the dining experience.
One of the main strengths of The Sow & Pigs place is the quality of the food. Several comments praise the Sunday roast, describing it as beautifully cooked and delicious. The fact that they can also accommodate vegans and offer a good vegan Sunday roast is another positive point, showing a range of options for different dietary preferences. Additionally, the Korean style bbq pork belly received high praise for its tremendous flavors, leaving a positive impression on the customers.
Another strength mentioned by customers is the friendly and welcoming staff. Several comments mention the landlord and lady being friendly and creating a pleasant atmosphere. This is important in the hospitality industry as it helps customers feel comfortable and valued. Friendly staff can also contribute to positive word-of-mouth recommendations, which can attract more customers to the establishment.
The pub itself is also seen as a strength, with customers describing it as a lovely country pub. This suggests a cozy and charming setting, which can enhance the overall dining experience. The combination of restaurant-style food served in a local pub setting is seen as a unique and appealing aspect of The Sow & Pigs place.
In terms of the weaknesses, one recurring theme is the limited choice of ale. While this might not be a problem for some customers, others may prefer a wider selection to choose from. This could potentially be a drawback for ale enthusiasts who enjoy trying different flavors and brands.
Another weakness pointed out by some customers is the management attitude towards passing trade. One comment mentions a negative experience where the staff was unfriendly and unwelcoming when the customers arrived without a prior booking. This suggests that the business may not be adequately prepared or willing to accommodate spontaneous customers. Such negative experiences can deter potential customers and harm the reputation of the establishment.
There are also a couple of comments mentioning dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the dining experience. One customer expresses their dislike for the use of disposable plates and cutlery, suggesting that they would have preferred real cutlery instead. These kinds of details can significantly impact the overall dining experience and customer satisfaction. The lack of variety in real ales is also mentioned as a minor drawback, although it is not a significant issue for the customer.
Despite these weaknesses, the strengths of The Sow & Pigs place seem to outweigh them. The positive comments about the quality of the food, friendly staff, and pleasant atmosphere contribute to a favorable overall impression. However, it is important for the management to address the weaknesses mentioned, such as improving the attitude towards passing trade and considering the preferences of customers regarding disposable plates and cutlery. By doing so, The Sow & Pigs place can continue to build on its strengths and provide an even better dining experience for its customers.

Takeaway Sunday roast during Tier 2 was a real treat today. Beautifully cooked meats and veg - well packaged and steaming hot. Highly recommend.
A friend recommended we eat here. We have driven past for years and never gone in. The food was fantastic (Sunday Roast) with a nice small bites menu for those with smaller appetites.
The pub was a lovely country pub, where the landlord and lady were welcoming and friendly.
Will go back and recommend to anyone.
Good Sunday roast for us vegans. Service good. Not much choice of ale. On the whole a pleasant enough visit. It was my birthday lunch with my daughter, son in law and son. Thanks for looking after us.
A great asset for Poundon. Restaurant style food freshly cooked by James and served in a local pub setting with sport TV.
Arrived at 13:45 on a Sunday - one table of 5 eating - having no prior booking we were told food was unavailable. The attitude and friendliness of staff had a great deal to be desired. We will not return. It won’t be HS2 that destroys this business but management attitude to passing trade.
Our first visit. Pub very quite for s Saturday lunchtime. Four of us in party. Good food and service. Nothing too fancy but nice variety. No choice of real ales, just one available which was fine.
Had Sunday lunch here today the food was beautiful but we had disposable plates and cutlery which I didn't like... probably cutlery would have been better, the desert was gorgeous.. chocolate brownie cheesecake ..delish
This evenings special was Korean style bbq pork belly. It left my jaw on the floor, tremendous flavours. I couldn’t get enough of it. Please do go and try the food top notch.
