Quick Facts About The Village Cafe

The Village Cafe seems to have a number of strengths based on the comments provided. One prominent strength is the helpfulness of the staff. The first comment mentions that the lady who answered the phone was very helpful and even offered to reserve a table. This shows a dedication to customer service and ensuring a positive experience for patrons. Another comment praises the service, describing the ladies in the cafe as charming and helpful. The commenter highly recommends the cafe based on their positive interactions with the staff.
Another strength of The Village Cafe is its tasteful decor and lovely ambiance. Multiple comments mention the cafe's beautiful setting, both inside and outside. One individual describes it as a charming cafe, while another appreciates the cozy and warm atmosphere. The mention of bunting in the village adds to the overall positive impression of the cafe's surroundings. The beautiful setting adds to the overall experience and makes it a pleasant place to visit.
The quality of the food is also highlighted as a strength in a number of comments. One individual enjoyed soup, breakfast bap, and a panini, all of which were described as delicious. They even wanted the recipe for the Curried Parsnip Soup. Additionally, the comment about the steak, chips, and salad being tender with lovely flavor reflects the positive dining experience at the cafe. It seems that the cafe takes pride in the taste and quality of their food offerings.
The cafe's new ownership is seen as a positive aspect in one comment. The commenter mentions that the cafe is now very welcoming and offers excellent coffee. This suggests that the new owners have made improvements and have created a positive environment for customers.
However, there are some weaknesses apparent in the comments as well. One comment mentions that the cake selection was not to their liking. While it may be subjective, it is still worth noting as a potential weakness for those who have specific preferences when it comes to cake options. Another comment mentions that the menu was limited and possibly more gourmet than anticipated. This could be a weakness for individuals who prefer a wider variety of lunch options or who are looking for more casual fare.
Additionally, the cafe's limited availability is mentioned in a couple of comments. One individual notes that they were disappointed to find the cafe closed, as they had planned to stop for breakfast. Another comment suggests that reservations need to be made well in advance, as the cafe is reportedly busy every day of the week. This limited availability could potentially be a weakness for those who prefer spontaneity or who struggle to plan their meals ahead of time.
In conclusion, The Village Cafe has strengths in its helpful staff, tasteful decor, and delicious food options. The positive atmosphere and welcoming service create a pleasant experience for customers. However, there are some weaknesses, including potentially limited cake options, gourmet-focused menu, and limited availability. Overall, based on the comments, The Village Cafe seems to provide a positive and enjoyable visit, but it may not be the ideal choice for everyone's preferences or dining needs.

My husband’s grandmother had asked if we could visit this charming cafe in East Coker as a friend had recommended it. Prior our visit I called to ask about parking and and opening times. The lady who I spoke to was so very helpful and offered to reserve a table for us. We managed to go today and it was a most pleasant experience. An absolutely lovely village cafe, tastefully decorated and with tasty cakes ???? The ladies in the cafe were charming and helpful. We can highly recommend a visit or two or many more!!! We will definitely return ????☺️
Had an amazing lunch here today, really impressed. The cafe is beautiful and we had soup, breakfast bap and a panini for lunch and all was delicious. Mum wants the recipe for the Curried Parsnip Soup! Also took on two massive slices of cake for later and shared that between 4 of us, this was very good too! We will definitely be back, we're sorry it's taken us so long to visit before now!
Popped in nearly on closing time expecting to turned away but they was happy to serve us, we only had tea and cake (which was great) and must come back to sample me the light lunches on offer. There's a few seats outside but nice and cosy inside, warm and friendly service and worth a visit if your in the area.
Lovely setting and service, shame that the cake selection wasn’t really my choice. Was looking forward to lovely cake . Perhaps because it was Friday. But having Sid that will visit again.
Under new ownership, very welcoming, excellent coffee. Didn't eat but will do sometime soon. Well worth a visit
Very friendly and sweet cafe, the menu was limited and perhaps a bit more gourmet than I anticipated... Not a lot of small lunch options. But very very good food.
Also the lady who served us was a beautiful soul and as we were sat outside, she was closing up but told us to sit as long as we liked after she left. Lovely!
Our walking group came here for lunch. The steak, chips and salad I ordered was served promptly. The steak was tender and had a lovely flavour.
It is a popular place apparently busy every day of the week! It would be best to reserve a table if you are travelling from a distance. It was suggested by the staff that bookings need to be made a week or so in advance! I've noted the phone number so I'll be back without our walking group.
Sitting outside now. Planned to stop here for breakfast having left Brighton at 7.30 am. However, it’s closed ‘due to the jubilee’ from 1st to 8th June!!! Would be helpful if they put it in their website!!! Very disappointed, especially having just read the previous review. ????
But the village is so cute and full of bunting. ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
