Quick Facts About Wheatsheaf Inn
The Wheatsheaf Inn has received a variety of reviews, both positive and negative. In order to assess its strengths and weaknesses, it is important to consider the different aspects mentioned in the comments.
Starting with the strengths, one recurring theme is the friendly and welcoming staff. Several customers mentioned that the staff members were helpful and went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience. This is a significant strength as good customer service can greatly enhance the overall dining experience.
The carvery at the Wheatsheaf Inn was also positively mentioned by some customers. They praised the quality of the carvery and considered it to be great value for money. A good carvery can be a draw for customers, especially those looking for a traditional pub meal.
The atmosphere of the pub, particularly the decent-sized garden and range of beers on tap, was another strength mentioned by customers. The cleanliness and tidiness of the pub were also appreciated. A clean and well-maintained establishment is essential in creating a positive impression on customers.
The pub's recognition of special occasions was highly regarded by one customer who mentioned receiving a complimentary bottle of Prosecco for their 45th wedding anniversary. Such gestures can leave a lasting positive impression on customers and increase their likelihood of recommending the establishment to others.
However, there are also weaknesses that were highlighted in the comments. One customer mentioned their disappointment with the quality of the carvery, specifically noting very rare beef, dry gammon, and subpar Yorkshire puddings. This suggests a decline in the quality of the food compared to previous experiences, affecting their overall satisfaction.
Another customer mentioned a negative experience with flies and food quality. This indicates a potential cleanliness issue that needs to be addressed. The presence of aggressive flies and unsatisfactory food can significantly impact a customer's perception of the establishment and deter them from returning or recommending it to others.
In terms of service, one customer mentioned a lack of attention after their food was served. The plates remained on the table for over 45 minutes without any follow-up from the staff. This lack of attentiveness can diminish the overall dining experience and may suggest a need for improved service standards.
In summary, the strengths of the Wheatsheaf Inn include friendly and welcoming staff, a well-regarded carvery, a pleasant atmosphere, and the recognition of special occasions. However, weaknesses include declining food quality, potential cleanliness issues, and a lack of attentive service. It is important for the management to address these weaknesses in order to maintain and enhance the overall customer experience.

I went today with my mum for a treat. Have not visited since COVID
I will not be hurrying back. So so disappointing with the carvery used to be lovely. Three roasts one very rare beef which suited me a very dry old piece of gammon and bullets for Yorkshire puddings
Vegetables not very hot. Nobody came and said was everything ok. What's happened. Will not returning would of been better stopping at home
Went on the off chance after a last minute change whilst on our break from living near London. The pub from outside looked very much like a local near where we live but inside the welcome from the family run pub was excellent and very warm. The meal was good and the service was first class and when found out it was our 45th wedding anniversary we was presented with a bottle of Prosecco on the house, how lovely.
Nice friendly family pub with a decent size garden & good range of beers on tap. Always clean & tidy throughout the pub & it's super dog friendly! The staff are always friendly & make a fuss of our dogs everytime we visit which they love. Not eaten at the pub as yet so can't comment but from what Iv'e seen it all looks good & sells traditional pub food on it's menu with a carvery option on certain day's.
Visited to watch the rugby on Saturday with family to celebrate my birthday . Staff were really welcoming to us in our strange fancy dress and the kids. Even supplied doughnuts! Thank you for an excellent afternoon!
I went in for a meal with my grandparents.
First thing we noticed was the abundance of aggressive flies, my grandad claims one stung him on the ear.
We got our drinks, they made a mistake with one of them. Giving my grandad a shandy instead of a normal beer.
Then the food came, I had a burger. It composed of two flat bits of dry bread and dry patty, no sauce, no veg.
There was one girl working, she was nice and helpful, the only reason for the two stars.

Very friendly Staff. Great carvery. Reasonably priced. Would recommend.
We popped in wed after noon for a bite to eat and catch up with staff we had a wonderful food and chat very nice afternoon all staff nice and pleasant ty for great service xxxx
Staff were absolutely amazing. Super friendly and helpful. However, once we'd ordered food (and eaten it) that was it. No one came to check back on us. Okay, I understand not everywhere does that, but our plates were on the table for over 45 minutes after we'd finished. We even stacked them to make it easier, being in the industry ourselves. Having said that, the food was so delicious I'm only taking off one star as you really should try this place. I wanted to take a picture of my beautifully presented meal but sadly lacked the self control to not eat it straight away.
