Somewhere special to take that someone special! what a beautiful located hotel! although i did not stay here, i did walk into the lobby and wish i was staying there! the place looked amazing and so relaxing! i had 3 kids with me so it was out of the question but maybe at another stage of my life i will be sure to stay at this beautiful establishment. The dear park on the other hand is perfect for kids! kept them entertained for hours feeding them. Would highly recommend a visit.
Lovely hotel for Christmas lunch with friends. Great views on the deer in the field even feed them if you choose to. Friendly staff and great service
Me and my husband had a fantastic stay here! The location was perfect. It was our wedding anniversary and wanted to escape the kids. The room was lovely and clean and the bed was really comfy. Best night sleep in a while. Loved the whirlpool bath and stunning views. Breakfast was nice and if you didn't like anything on the menu you had a choice of pastry's and fruit. Very nice indeed!
Only thing is I found the girl on check out was quite snooty and lacked any conversation. Also when queried about the bill payment she replied "oh it's just going to this amount of money out" which to people who have saved up to come is a lot.
Other than that fantastic stay would recommend it.
We've just spent 5 nights at the hotel and the food was very good and varied. The staff were excellent. Polite, efficient and very friendly. Couldn't fault anyone.
The deer park was a bonus, as every day more and more babies were being born and the grounds offered many relaxing walks, either at the start of the day or at the end.
We certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here.
This is a beautiful hotel set in a wonderful deer park. The rooms were clean, tidy and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and helpful, unfortunately the hotel was extremely quiet which I was told was unusual but that did not set well as it was a Friday night. The hotel looks like a stunning place for a wedding for which it has won awards. Did I enjoy it, yes but it would have been better with someone to share it with.
Really enjoyed our stay here. There is a deer park next to the hotel. Our room was large and pleasant. Could just do with a little TLC. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Good location - around 20minutes drive to Durham and 30 minutes to Newcastle or Beamish museum.
Lovely small hotel with a deer park near Spennymoor. I met some friends for coffee and scones in the Garden Room. We had the room to ourselves as it was very quiet mid week. The coffee was good and the scones warm and delicious. Very reasonably priced too. Service was very good; staff were very helpful and pleasant.
stayed for 2 nights in June. food was fantastic, as was the service. standard rooms could do with modernising, but very clean. all staff were very helpful and friendly. prices were reasonable and the surrounding area was stunning. there is a fully stocked fishing lake which was very popular with locals and a dear park that was open to walk around and feed the dear. Would definitely stay here again.
