Quick Facts About Wild Fish & Chips

Wild Fish & Chips place, based on the comments provided, has a mix of strengths and weaknesses. To begin with the strengths, many customers praised the delicious taste of the food, particularly highlighting the well-cooked fish and well-seasoned chips. The portion sizes were also appreciated by multiple customers, who felt they were generous. The friendly and welcoming nature of the owner and staff was another positive aspect of the restaurant's service. Customers felt comfortable and at home in the environment, with one person even stating that it felt like home - or better. Additionally, the prices were considered to be very reasonable, offering good value for money.
However, there were also several weaknesses highlighted in the comments. One customer expressed disappointment with the portion sizes of the mushy peas, feeling that they were too small. Another individual complained about receiving a medium-sized haddock piece that appeared small, and when queried, was told it was medium but provided with extra chips instead. The same customer also found the fish to be lacking in content and the table to be sticky. Another customer expressed dissatisfaction with the size of their medium fish, stating that it was smaller than a small one, and when they complained, they were told their sister got lucky with a larger portion. This inconsistency in portion sizes and the coldness of the fish and chips were additional shortcomings mentioned.
The quality of the accompaniments was also criticized. The vinegar was said to have no taste, the curry sauce was described as the worst ever tasted, and the Greek salad lacked dressing. Additionally, one customer mentioned that cheesy chips were forgotten initially, leading to an unnecessary extra portion of regular chips.
Furthermore, there were complaints about the cooking of the fish. One customer even had to return their fish as it was not cooked properly, and the owner initially argued that it was how it should be cooked. However, in the end, a full refund was given. This inconsistency in cooking standards and the argumentative behavior of the owner were notable weaknesses in customer satisfaction.
In conclusion, Wild Fish & Chips place has a range of strengths, including delicious food, well-seasoned chips, generous portion sizes, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. However, there were significant weaknesses mentioned in the comments, such as inconsistent portion sizes, cold and poorly cooked fish, lackluster accompaniments, and argumentative behavior from the owner. These criticisms should be considered by the restaurant to improve its overall performance and customer satisfaction.

Best TL Reviews

I'm a northerner who likes fish and chips, came to this based on the reviews.. Wish I'd saved my £21. Two portions of fish, chips and mushy peas, the pots of peas was tiny. Wanted fish and peas and was told it was "fish & chips". Not the best experience for the price, perhaps fish and chips are better up north!
I had a Medium piece of Haddock which looked Small to me! Any smaller it would have been classed as a "Fish Finger"
I asked if it was definitely a Medium piece? and was told Yes! ????‍♂️I shook my head and he said well I've given you extra chips
I had to open up the fish flat to find not much inside????
The table was very "Sticky"????
The medium size battered fish was smaller than a small, when I complained and said my sister ordered medium as well and her fish was double mine, I was told she got lucky! the fish and the chips were cold, the vinegar had no taste at all no matter how much you put on, the fish was soggy and the batter was so soft, it was almost inedible. The curry sauce was the worst curry sauce I’ve ever tasted, I couldn’t eat it, I ordered cheesy chips but it didn’t come, then they gave another potion of chips which is just wasteful. The Greek salad had no dressing on it, completely tasteless, just full of feta cheese. And they forgot to bring the second portion of the salad (it’s like who ever took the order just didn’t understand the concept of it? As in, you make and bring what’s ordered, not whatever takes your fancy.) The only good thing was the grilled salmon and the new baby potatoes. That was cooked well, albeit a little too oily. If you’re visiting and looking for a nice place, it’s not here
The Fish was beautifully cooked, the chips were well seasoned and the portion size was perfect.
On top of that the service was brilliant too, the guys behind the counter were very helpful.
There is a slight wait for the food but it's well worth it.
Honestly feels like home - or better!
The food is delicious, the owner is super friendly and welcoming, and the prices are very decent.
We came to Bournemouth for a day and seeing the high ratings for this fish and chips shop, we couldn't help but stop by. When we asked for some advice and information about the food scene and where to find fresh seafood, the owner was super helpf, friendly, and extremely hospitable.
We had a long conversation and enjoyed the freshly made seafood in this super friendly environment.
Thank you for the food and the excellent service! Will definitely come again if I get the chance to.
A decent fish and chips. Well done all round. The curry sauce wasn’t great however and lacked a bit of oomph and balance. I was comparing, probably unfairly to Chez Fred which I’d had the day before. Chez Fred is on another level to pretty much any other fish and chips shop so maybe an unfair comparison, but this is a good fish and chips place especially if you’re in Bournemouth town
My daughter ordered fish and chips. Took ages. Some local security came in and it would seem were served the meal I was waiting for. The fish when I finally got it wasn't cooked properly as the photo shows.
Took it back to the shop and the owner was argumentative saying that it was how it should be cooked.
In the end she was given a full refund.
Me and my hubby came to this place while visiting Bournemouth. I am not a big fish fan so I got grilled halloumi wrap and regular chips. Wrap was not too bad just a little bit basic. Would love it more if they had a different sauce not just mayonnaise. Chips were very good.
My hubby got the regular fish and chips and said he would rate it 9/10. Fish was freshly made and the taste was nice. The portion size was good. In London regular would be half of what we got. Would definitely come back next time we are in Bournemouth.
Also, the staff were friendly and the price is very good.
