Quick Facts About The Cock Inn
The Cock Inn is a cosy pub located in the middle of Leek. One of its notable strengths is the decent pricing of their drinks. This is particularly appealing for customers looking for an affordable place to enjoy a few pints. Additionally, the pub has a variety of nooks to sit in, which adds to its cosy and welcoming ambiance.
Another strength of The Cock Inn is its decent sized beer garden. With approximately nine tables, including some under shade and a permanent wooden shade, it provides ample space for patrons who prefer to enjoy their drinks in the open air. This is especially attractive during off-peak hours when the pub is quiet and relaxing. The availability of a pleasant outdoor seating area adds versatility to the pub and appeals to customers seeking a different atmosphere.
Furthermore, the pub offers a wide selection of Joule's ales, making it an excellent choice for beer lovers. The inclusion of local and popular brands like Joule's adds to the pub's appeal, catering to different tastes and preferences. Customers who enjoy trying different types of beer will appreciate the variety available.
One commenter referred to The Cock Inn as a "good ol' fashioned pub." This is another strength, as it suggests that the pub embraces its traditional roots, attracting customers seeking a classic pub experience. The character of the pub is also praised, likely due to its historic and authentic charm. Alongside this, the reasonably priced drinks and friendly staff contribute to its positive reputation.
Additionally, the pub is commended for its live music. The presence of fantastic live music at The Cock Inn adds to its appeal, attracting those looking to enjoy a night out with great beer and entertainment. This demonstrates the pub's commitment to providing a diverse and enjoyable experience for its customers.
On the other hand, one commenter mentioned that the toffee ale at The Cock Inn had a slight tart finish. This could be perceived as a weakness, as it suggests that the quality of some of their ales may not always meet expectations. Customers may be disappointed if they choose a specific ale and find it does not meet their preferences or standards.
Another potential weakness is the pub's lack of food options. While some customers may appreciate the emphasis on being a "true drinkers pub," others may prefer a place that offers a range of food to accompany their drinks. The absence of food may limit the pub's appeal for those seeking a dining experience alongside their beverage choices.
Another potential downside mentioned by one commenter is the pub's busyness during weekends. While a bustling atmosphere can create a lively and vibrant ambiance, it may also deter customers seeking a quieter and more relaxed experience. The pub may struggle to accommodate all customers during peak times, potentially resulting in longer wait times and less attentive service.
In conclusion, The Cock Inn has several notable strengths, including its decently priced drinks, variety of seating options, and a good-sized beer garden. The availability of Joule's ales, live music, and friendly staff further enhance its appeal. However, potential weaknesses include occasional issues with ale quality, the absence of food options, and potential busyness during peak times. Overall, The Cock Inn offers a cosy and authentic pub experience in the heart of Leek, appealing to a range of customers with its unique features.

A cosy pub in the middle of Leek, decent priced drinks and a lots of nooks to sit in. Has a decent sized beer garden also.
A really nice little old Joule’s pub in the heart of Leek.
Got all the Joule’s ales if that’s to your liking, beer garden is a good enough size (I counted about 9 tables, a couple under a shade, one under a permanent wooden shade) if you enjoy your pint in the open air, if you can visit during the off peak, it’s a surprisingly quiet and relaxing place to enjoy good ale (although do keep in mind I popped in for a half pint at 2pm on a sunny Monday so it being quiet and not busy goes without saying ????).
A very busy pub set in the heart of the town. Treat yourself to a pint of Joules p a or Joules slumbering monk if you are a beer lover. Service was good ,drink selection good and well priced. Plenty of seating available in this lovely old pub.
