Quick Facts About York Street Chippy
York Street Chippy is a popular Chinese chippy that has received a mix of positive and negative reviews. In order to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses, it is important to consider the various comments made by customers.
One strength highlighted by multiple reviewers is the taste of the chips. They have been described as good and tasty, which indicates that the chippy has a good understanding of how to cook chips to perfection. Additionally, the portion sizes have been praised as being generous, which could be seen as another strength as customers feel they are getting their money's worth.
Another strength mentioned by customers is the speed of service. The chippy is commended for serving food quickly, which is appreciated by those who may be in a hurry or simply prefer not to wait for their meal.
Additionally, some customers express their loyalty to York Street Chippy, stating that they have been coming to the establishment for years without any problems. This suggests that the chippy has built a strong customer base and has consistently met their expectations.
On the other hand, there are several weaknesses that customers have pointed out. One recurring criticism is that the gravy is too salty. While this is subjective and not necessarily the chippy's fault, it does indicate a potential issue with the seasoning of their dishes. However, it should be noted that this complaint comes from an individual who does not like much salt, so it may not be representative of the general consensus.
Another weakness highlighted in a negative review is the quality of the salt and pepper chips. One customer describes them as sweaty, soft chips with onions thrown over them, suggesting that they did not meet the customer's expectations in terms of taste and presentation. This criticism raises concerns about the overall quality of the food and the chippy's ability to consistently deliver on taste and texture.
A separate negative review states that the chippy used to be good in the past but has since become horrid. This comment implies a decline in the quality of the food over time, which may be a cause for concern for potential customers.
Lastly, one customer mentions that the fish from York Street Chippy has a noticeable smell and suggests going to a different fish bar for better quality fish. This raises concerns about the freshness and quality of the fish served at the chippy.
In conclusion, York Street Chippy has several strengths such as tasty chips, generous portions, and fast service. However, it also has weaknesses including the potentially overly salty gravy, mediocre salt and pepper chips, a perceived decline in quality over time, and concerns about the smell of the fish. These strengths and weaknesses should be taken into consideration when deciding whether to visit York Street Chippy.

Good tasty chips, had them with the gravy. Gravy was nice but too salty for my liking (though I admit I don't like much salt, so I can't blame them on that, I assume it's just my taste). Great serving sizes! Very fast.
My family and I have been coming here for years, especially when my grandad lived nearby. Never a problem for us.
Very disappointing. Worst salt& pepper chips ever, sweaty soft chips with onions thrown over. The rest of the food was mediocre at best. The couple serving seem really nice, it's just a shame their food isn't.
Massive portions hot and fresh food excellent will be calling again highly recommend
Great little Chinese chippy always good decent price as well
It used to be very good years go, many years ago. Now it actually tastes horrid. Sorry guys but it does. If you want seriously good fish head up the road to whalley Rd fish bar. The fish smells from York Street for some reason :(
A very warm friendly gent takes your order, and his lovely wife serves delicious hot food in minutes.
We've gone to York Street Chippy for years. Everything is good. The fish has to be the best in the area. Tonight we tried the Chinese set menu for 2. It was enough for 3. After ordering online, I only had to wait 2 minutes at the chippy for my order.. It was good to look at, (always a good thing) and very good to eat. York Street Chippy is well worth a visit and it's easy to park outside (no yellow lines)
