Quick Facts About 88 Oriental Market
88 Oriental Market Place, based on the given comments, has several strengths that make it a popular choice for customers. These strengths include an excellent selection of fresh vegetables, a wide variety of seafood options, great pricing, good customer service, a great selection of spices, and a good stock of dried foods.
The outstanding selection of fresh vegetables is highly valued by customers, indicating that the market takes care to provide high-quality produce. Additionally, the availability of seafood, including live crabs, lobster, conch, and clams, is a definite strength. It shows that the market prioritizes offering diverse and fresh seafood options to cater to the preferences of different customers. The comment advising customers to ask for seafood not displayed indicates that the market also accommodates special requests, further enhancing customer satisfaction.
The market is also praised for its pricing, with customers considering it favorable. This strength suggests that 88 Oriental Market Place offers competitive prices, making it an affordable option for customers looking for Asian food products. Additionally, the market receives praise for its good customer service, implying that employees are attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable about the products they offer.
On the other hand, the market has some weaknesses that could potentially impact its reputation. One of the comments highlights a negative experience with a shopkeeper who displayed rude behavior towards a customer. The shopkeeper's response of "buy it or leave it" followed by yelling at the customer showcases poor customer service and an arrogant attitude. This incident suggests that there might be occasional instances of unprofessional behavior within the market, which can leave a negative impression on customers.
Despite this negative experience, the market has positive reviews from several customers who have been loyal for years. This indicates that the market has developed a strong reputation over time and continues to meet the needs and expectations of long-time customers. The praise for the selection of spices and the sense of nostalgia experienced by a customer from Hawaii further highlights the market's strengths in providing unique and authentic Asian food products.
The market's weakness in terms of the language barrier is also mentioned in one comment. Although the employees are described as friendly, the fact that they are not fluent in English might pose an obstacle for customers who are not familiar with Asian food or cooking. This weakness could potentially limit the market's appeal to a broader customer base.
Overall, 88 Oriental Market Place possesses strengths such as an excellent selection of fresh vegetables, a wide variety of seafood, competitive pricing, good customer service, and a great selection of spices and dried foods. However, the market's weaknesses in terms of occasional rude behavior and potential language barriers might need to be addressed to ensure continued customer satisfaction and attract a wider customer base.

Excellent selection of fresh vegetables. Often there is high quality seafood, including live crabs, lobster, conch, and clams (ask if not displayed, as it may be in the cooler). Great pricing. Good customer service.
The shopkeeper told me "buy it or leave it" when I asked about a product there. I told her she can talk politely and she began to yell at me for about 5 minutes. Very bad service. Feel they are too arrogant and rude.
We've been going to the Oriental Market for years love all the great finds food and nonfood .Great selection of spices .My father lived in Japan and we started going there decades ago now my children go excellent service
Good place to shop for great Asian food favorites. Great place to stock up on dried foods.
Considering I found this place less than a week ago and have been back three times, this place is awesome! It's like a little treasure chest of cuisine. Great prices too, and the owner (I assume she's the owner) is a sweet lady.
The store owner is very rude. She yelled at us. Wouldn't recommend!
I'm originally from Hawaii and I've been missing mochi ice cream and manapua (steamed, meat filled buns). They have a lot of seasonings that I can't find in regular grocery stores. I stumbled into this place just to browse and it was like stepping back into my childhood. I even stocked up on chopsticks for $2. If you're not familiar with Asian food or cooking, you're probably going to be lost. The people who were working there when I went weren't fluent in English, but they're very friendly.
They have a pretty good selection of Asian food and had what I was looking for, I was also able to scoped out some more items that I will be getting the next time I return.
