Quick Facts About 98th Street Barber Shop
98th Street Barber Shop is a family-owned business that has received mixed reviews. While some customers have had positive experiences and praised the barbers for their skills and friendly atmosphere, others have expressed dissatisfaction with their haircuts and felt unwelcome.
One of the strengths of 98th Street Barber Shop is the affordable price of their haircuts. They provide fantastic haircuts at a reasonable price, which is appealing to customers looking for quality service at a lower cost. The fact that they are a family-owned business also adds a sense of familiarity and community to the barbershop, making customers feel welcomed and comfortable.
Several customers have spoken highly of the barbers at 98th Street Barber Shop, specifically mentioning Hymie, Jaime Sr, Jaime Jr, and Rocky as experienced and skilled barbers. This indicates that the barbers have a good reputation and are capable of delivering satisfactory haircuts.
Additionally, the barbershop offers additional services such as face shaves with hot steam towels, which can be seen as a positive aspect for those looking for a more pampering experience. This demonstrates that the shop goes beyond basic haircuts and provides extra services to enhance customer satisfaction.
However, there are several weaknesses that have been pointed out by dissatisfied customers. One significant weakness is the lack of customer service skills exhibited by some of the barbers. Customers have complained about feeling rushed, not being given the opportunity to explain what they wanted, and even feeling scared or threatened during their visit. This indicates a lack of professionalism and customer-centric approach in handling clients.
Another weakness highlighted by a negative review is the perception of an unsafe environment. The reviewer claimed to have felt unsafe upon arrival and that there was no warm welcome or friendly atmosphere. This raises concerns about the overall ambiance and atmosphere of the barbershop, which may deter potential customers from visiting.
Inconsistency in advertised business hours is another weakness that has been mentioned. One customer mentioned driving across town based on the listed hours online, only to find that the shop was actually closed. This inconsistency can lead to frustration and inconvenience for customers, potentially impacting their trust in the barbershop.
Despite the negative comments, there are also positive experiences shared by customers who appreciate the professionalism, hard work, and humble nature of the barbers. These positive reviews suggest that there may be inconsistencies in the quality of service provided, with some barbers excelling while others fall short.
In conclusion, while 98th Street Barber Shop has some strengths such as affordable prices, a family-owned atmosphere, and skilled barbers, there are also weaknesses such as poor customer service, a perceived unsafe environment, and inconsistencies in business hours. It is important for potential customers to weigh these strengths and weaknesses when considering whether to visit this barbershop.

The person that cut my hair didn’t even let me finish on what I wanted and left my whole hair a mess, I would ask to be facing the mirror so you can see what is going on. I personally will not go there anymore. Plus there is cheaper places that do a better job.
Fantastic haircuts and a great price too. They are a family owned business of father and sons. All good barbers. I have been going to Hymie the father. They'll make you feel welcomed from the get go. Very popular barber in the area.
I'm new to the area, googled barbershop near me.. brought me here. This place is hands down the best in town! I got a razor fade and face shave with hot steam towels! There's 3 barbers Jaime Sr, Jaime Jr, and Rocky. From what I've seen, they all do a great job. Experienced barbers who know what they're doing. I've been to the other barber shops on 98th and they all seem to be fresh out of barber school. If you're looking for a great cut at a reasonable price, this is the place!
I got to say that this is one of the top worst barbershops in Albuquerque. I am shocked that it has almost five stars and I do know that most of these are probably forced ratings. I went here and I felt the presence of an unsafe environment upon arrival. Not even a smile or a welcome.
The person that cut my hair was mean and not nice at all. I felt depressed and scared for my life after leaving this barbershop. It’s not a pleasant feeling at all. I would advice to stay away from this place. If it’s a professional family owned business act by it and do not make customers feel unsafe and threatened.
I have been to barbershops all over the country and all over Abq and these guys are some of the most professional, hardworking and humble barbers out there. They welcome you like family and always do a great job. I dont know why you would waste your time and money going anywhere else. These guys are the best. I'll never go to another shop as long as I live here.
Vicks gives my grandson his haircut cut, my grandson is special needs and mostly cries when he gets his haircut, but vick is very patient with my grandson and gives him a fresh cut everytime ????
I'm picky as hell when it comes to my hair. I've had two barbers in my entire life. I don't let just anybody fade me up I would rather be bald. But I took a chance on these vatos and now I've got 3 barbers who have been worthy of giving me a fresh one! Amor brothers
Drove across town because their hours listed here were that they were open until 6 on Sunday. Got there and the door a locked and their sign said 10 yo 2 on Sunday.
