Quick Facts About Ami 's african hair braiding
Ami's African Hair Braiding Place has both strengths and weaknesses, as highlighted in the comments. Let's analyze them below.
Starting with the strengths, one customer mentioned that certain selective stylists at Ami's do a great job of braiding. This implies that there are experienced and skilled stylists available at the salon who can deliver high-quality braiding services. Additionally, another customer mentioned that their daughter loves coming to the salon, indicating that there may be a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for children, which can be a positive aspect for families seeking hair braiding services.
Another positive aspect mentioned by a customer was the professionalism and speed of braiding. They mentioned that their hair was done in a surprisingly short time without compromising the quality. This can be a major strength for individuals who value efficiency and want to save time during their salon visits.
Moving on to the weaknesses, several customers mentioned issues with pricing inconsistencies. Some customers were quoted one price and charged another when they arrived at the salon. This lack of fixed pricing can lead to customer dissatisfaction and confusion. It is essential for businesses to have transparent and consistent pricing policies to build trust and retain customers.
Another weakness highlighted by multiple customers was the long wait times. Waiting for a prolonged period can be uncomfortable and frustrating for customers, especially when there are others ahead of them. Long wait times can also be inconvenient for customers who have busy schedules and limited time available for salon visits.
Cleanliness was also mentioned as a weakness by one customer who spotted a roach crawling on the wall while getting their hair done. A pristine and hygienic environment is crucial for any salon, as it ensures customer safety and promotes a positive image of the business. Instances of uncleanliness can significantly harm the reputation of a salon.
There were also instances of poor customer service highlighted in the comments. One customer mentioned that they were spoken to abrasively when inquiring about a hairstyle, and another mentioned feeling confused and annoyed by the owner's comments after their hair was done. Poor customer service can leave customers feeling unvalued and unwilling to return to the salon.
Lastly, some customers expressed dissatisfaction with the owner's ability to understand and meet their hairstyle preferences. This indicates a lack of creativity and flexibility in accommodating customer requests. It is important for stylists and salon owners to have open communication with customers to ensure that their desired hairstyles are fulfilled.
In conclusion, Ami's African Hair Braiding Place has both strengths and weaknesses. The strengths include having skilled stylists, a welcoming atmosphere for children, and efficient service. However, the weaknesses include issues with pricing inconsistencies, long wait times, cleanliness concerns, poor customer service, and limited flexibility in meeting customer preferences. These weaknesses should be addressed by the salon in order to improve overall customer satisfaction and attract repeat business.

This salon is so bad i don’t understand how people keep going here. The prices aren’t fixed and you are quoted something else when you go in to get serviced. They had me waiting here for a long time and plenty of women in front of me it was uncomfortable. We really need better.
The wait is extremely too long. The price has gotten very expensive, but selective stylists do a great job of braiding.
I recently relocated to Brooklyn from Long Island and wanted the convenience of getting my hair done closer to home. I walked in the door to inquire of the services so I could get my hair done over the weekend. I asked for the price of a mohawk with crochet braids in the center. I was told, "Dat don't make no sense." I asked her why since it is a style I had numerous times elsewhere. She told me to get the hair and show her a picture. I could not access the pic right there and then because I was going to work. I was just taken aback by the abrasiveness. Even if the style made no sense, there is a better way to speak to new clientele. In fact, there is a better way to speak to the general public especially since there are so many hair salons. I may just continue services in Queens where I had been for over 10 years. But if anyone has a recommendation for another braiding salon, pls let me know. For her to say that to me after being a hair braider for God knows how long indicates to me that she has no imagination.
It really was a turn off.
I call ask for price she tell me $160 then when I finish getting my hair braided she say $200 for medium braids that is up to middle of my back... my first time here and last and they attitude stinks. As for the cleanliness is disgusting I saw a roach on the wall crawling while I was getting my hair done.
Very professional. My daughter loves coming here. I used to come here as a child too.
I enjoyed my experience getting knotless braids done at Ami African Hair Salon. Ami had a calm and inviting attitude as I expressed to her the hairstyle i wanted. I had no wait time and was seated immediately after discussing the style. I’m not a big fan of getting my hair braided due to how long it takes to get braided , but Ami did my hair in 3 hours with a knotless box braid style that usually takes 6+ hours to do .Her professionalism and speed in braiding shocked me . I highly recommend getting your hair braided here, you will not regret it !
My hair was done so nicely by a slim, dark skinned young lady, exactly the way I wanted it. She was so nice. As I was leaving, this woman,I guess is the owner, told me that I should of said/didn't say that I didn't want extensions when I called to make the appointment this morning. To me,she seemed annoyed. I did mention no extensions before the young lady braided my hair anyway. What was the issue? I'm a paying customer!! I was so happy when the young lady did my hair then that woman confused my mood????. I'll go somewhere else.
Up until June 8th 2021 I have been going to Ami’s since 2013, and I gave that date because that would be the last time I go there. I went there before my trip and I asked for crochet which doesn’t take long at all but the owner made it seem as if I was asking for to much because it was only her and another braider present and also said it would be $120 FOR CROCHET. So then she asked if I wanted another style and because I’m familiar with their work I didn’t want to go anywhere else so I compromised and chose a style that could be done at the time. I showed her the picture of the style I wanted and she did her own thing and when she finished she charged me $160 for big knotless braids THAT BARELY PASSES MY SHOULDERS that took her less then 2 hours to do. That’s how you treat loyal customers? I’ve seen other braiders charge $100 for longer knotless braids. I could see if she gave me what I wanted because to me if I like something no matter the price I’ll pay for it, but I didn’t even fight with her on the price because I had many other things to do before my flight the next day for my dads wedding, and I knew that would be my last time there. This isn’t the first time they did poorly but I gave them another chance because that’s the only place I’ve known for years but at the start of the pandemic their quality went down and their prices went up. So if anyone has another salon they can recommend I would be grateful because that’s the last bit of money they’ll ever get from me.
