I am a natural hair stylist and this store was my main supplier for over a year. I spend at least $100 per visit and I visit the store an average of 2 days w week. So, I spent around $10,000 in this store in 2014 and my clients probably double that amount. I have normally had good service and the store stocked 90% of my hair needs. However, a store is only as good as their response to a customer service problem. This store does not handle problems well. I purchased a $75 hair clipper set 5 days ago. Upon trying to use the item last night, a razor fell off of the clippers and hit me in the head. Although shaken, I was not badly injured. I took the clippers back to the store, not thinking that it would be a problem to exchange because I thought that this store would stand behind the products it sells, and also I was exchanging within 7-days. Well. the owner points to a sign on the counter and tells me that it is my responsibility to return the item to the manufacturer. That sign does NOT match what is written on the receipt AND is not lawful.
Consumers have a right to expect that items work properly when they give their money to a retailer. The retailer by LAW is supposed to warrant that the items that they sell will do what they are supposed to do aka "The implied warranty of merchantability". Not, "We the retailer will take your money and sell you this broken item and make YOU the consumer jump through hoops to get a working product from the manufacturer.". This company has lost mine and my clients business over $75. I do not recommend this retailer.
My hair care products are reasonably priced, i also like the fact that im not followed around the store while im deciding what i want. They have a great selection and great customer service.
I stop in this location occasionally since it is close to my work. I work in customer service and know how customers should be treated. However, I will not stop at this location again. I stopped to purchase lightening powder and the price was more than what I expected. The screen on the register did not show me the price and I made a mistake hearing the price the man said. I gave him my money and realized when he was giving me my change that the amount was more than what I expected. I declined to purchase the product since I could get it cheaper at any beauty supply within a five mile radius of my house in Maryland. I admitted that I misheard him. He became disrespectful and said he couldn't void the transaction. I asked again calmly since I had not received my change or the product yet. Finally he called another employee and she told him he could just void it out and give me my money back. He threw my money on the counter. I told him that was disrespectful, never changing my tone. The lady was nice and apologized for his behavior. I said thank you but I will not be back. I will make sure everyone I work with and associate with knows to avoid this location. I have had customers be rude but I would never treat them the way he treated me.
I've been shopping here all my life and it's 99% a good thing. That 1% being that they don't check expirations regularly. I've purchased old shampoo and old gel face peels (almost slime like) from there twice. Thus I only shop there if it'san emergency. I rather travel further to get good products for my money.
If you lose your receipt (which I have) you're stuck with old product.
I came in a had over 10items in my hand…asked the OWNER who was working the register could he assist me with a Wig and he said “No (and laughed) we don’t really have time for all that we close in 15 mins”….then proceeded to ring up my other items which is when I left all the items there and walked out!!! On top of that it was the day before my Birthday so my feelings were hurt!!! I will never spend a penny in there ever again!!! I will travel to the other side of town…
I visited B & B discount beauty on 2/15/2019 at approx. 6:00 pm. They are on bladensburg, Rd. NE. I needed hair rinse for grey hair but they did not have my usual brand. I did purchase another brand I was familiar with. They said they would order my favorite brand. They are well stocked in various other items, nice store!

The shop manager (he may be the owner, not sure) was so helpful and friendly. He even pulled another customer to assist me with my questions. They're always helpful here, they have a good selection of products and the prices are pretty fair.
