Quick Facts About Rix's Tavern
Rix's Tavern is a unique establishment with a pool bar and a "U-Cook-Em" menu, where patrons can cook their own food. This concept provides a fun and interactive dining experience, allowing customers to customize their meals to their liking. The inclusion of a salad bar and beans with the meal adds value and provides options for those looking for a well-rounded meal.
One strength of Rix's Tavern is the friendly and welcoming staff. Multiple comments mention the bartender being sweet, caring, and incredibly friendly. This positive customer service helps create a pleasant atmosphere for guests and contributes to a positive dining experience.
Being described as a locals' place is also a strength for Rix's Tavern. This suggests that it has a strong community presence and is a popular spot among the local residents. A locals' place often signifies authenticity and a welcoming environment, which can enhance the overall experience for visitors.
The inclusion of additional amenities such as a pool, live music, a dance floor, and a huge bar adds to the appeal of Rix's Tavern. These features provide entertainment options beyond just dining, giving customers a reason to stay longer and enjoy their time at the establishment.
Another positive attribute of Rix's Tavern is its location near Chiricahua National Monument. Many visitors stumble upon this unique establishment while exploring the area, which adds to the overall appeal and sense of discovery. The comments mentioning the surprise and delight at finding such a place in a small town contribute to the strength of Rix's Tavern as a hidden gem.
However, there are some weaknesses that can be identified from the comments. One critique is the requirement for non-alcoholic patrons to pay for canned sodas. While this might not seem significant, it can create a negative impression and potentially deter some customers who prefer non-alcoholic beverages.
Another weakness mentioned is the limited availability of the grill. One comment states that it is nice when the grill is open and not crowded. This suggests that there may be times when the grill is not accessible or there is limited space for customers to cook their own food. This could potentially lead to frustration or disappointment for those who specifically visit Rix's Tavern for the U-Cook-Em experience.
Additionally, one comment mentions that the bartender played in a pool tournament, which resulted in a delay in receiving drinks. This suggests that there may be moments when the service is slower due to staff involvement in other activities or events. For tourists or customers with limited time, this can be frustrating and disrupt the overall experience.
In conclusion, Rix's Tavern has several strengths that contribute to its appeal, including a unique U-Cook-Em menu, friendly staff, a locals' atmosphere, additional entertainment options, and its location near a national monument. These factors create an enjoyable and unexpected dining experience for visitors. However, there are also weaknesses, such as the requirement to pay for canned sodas for non-alcoholic patrons, limited availability of the grill, and potential delays in service due to staff involvement in other activities. Despite these weaknesses, Rix's Tavern seems to provide a fun and welcoming environment for those looking for a unique dining experience.

Pool bar with a "U-Cook-Em" menu. Salad bar and beans come with the meal. The bartender was so sweet. Obviously a locals place. It was a fun experience to try.
I stumbled upon this unique establishment when visiting Chiricahua National Monument. Imagine my surprise when I got to cook my own dinner, my own way. 2 grills are set up for cooking and you can choose from a variety of sides. Pool, live music, a dance floor , a huge bar and friendly staff and locals will make your eating experience pleasant. The manager even sprang for my first beer. This is exactly what I would hope any small town eatery would be like.
Had my reservations about cooking my own munchies. Non alcoholic patrons have to pay for can sodas. But other than that was a pleasant place and atmosphere. Nice when the grill is open and not so many ppl.
Rix's is a legitimate dream come true. The staff was caring and welcoming, even though we walked in 2 minutes after they opened for the day. My wife dropped a steak and a burger on the grill, grilled, seasoned, and prepared to perfection (I love you baby). Jukebox was pumpin', patrons were friendly, sports were on in the distance. A great place to hang out and enjoy life.
What a fun restaurant. The staff was amazing and incredibly friendly. We had a blast cooking up our food and hanging out at the bar. I would highly recommend checking out Rix's Tavern!
Traveling through Willcox and stopped in to eat and watch the Super Bowl. The bartender Carol was extremely nice, had pulled pork and potato salad free lunch. Bought an 8 ounce sirloin for my wife and grilled it myself on their grill. Highly recommended!!!!
My friends and I had a blast at Rix!! Totally unexpected to find such a cool bar in the little town of Willcox, AZ. We didn’t order any food just drinks and pool. Great vibe, very friendly. Hopefully you’re there when Chachi decides to drop in.
Fun place but bartender just played in the pool tournament, so we had to leave to get another beer and shot. 1 drink in an hour as a tourist sux.
