Quick Facts About Blue Diamond Chinese Restaurant
Blue Diamond Chinese Restaurant has received mostly positive comments about the food, service, and atmosphere. These strengths include the superb food, faultless service, and pleasant staff. The generous portions and authentic, fresh, and tasty dishes have been praised. The delivery service was also mentioned as being polite and prompt. The restaurant's decorations and small family feel have been appreciated by customers. Additionally, the restaurant's ability to handle busy periods and provide a cozy atmosphere for smaller groups has received positive feedback.
One of the weaknesses mentioned in a comment is that the food lacked taste and was unseasoned, specifically referring to the pork and cashew nut dish. The commenter found the dish to be gloopy and bland, with the pork being thin and soft with no texture. The lack of taste and seasoning in this particular dish was a disappointment for the customer, but it should be noted that they still regard the staff as nice.
Another weakness mentioned in a comment is the change in menu and overall quality of the food compared to when the restaurant was run by the original older couple. The commenter states that the new kitchen staff have a completely different menu and that the food served during their visit was not up to their previous expectations. They specifically mention a Special Chow Mein dish being like soup and the spare ribs being of lower quality. The customer expresses their disappointment and implies that they won't be returning to the restaurant.
In another comment, the excessive amount of garlic in the beef and broccoli dish is mentioned as a weakness. The overpowering taste of garlic was not enjoyable for the commenter, who suggests that the dish should be renamed as garlic, beef, and broccoli. This negative experience with the garlic-laden dish has led the commenter to decide not to eat at the restaurant again.
Overall, the strengths of Blue Diamond Chinese Restaurant include their superb food, faultless service, pleasant staff, and cozy atmosphere. Customers appreciate the authentic and fresh flavors of the dishes, as well as the generous portions. The weaknesses cited in the comments are the lack of taste and seasoning in a pork dish, a change in menu and food quality compared to when the original couple ran the restaurant, and an excessive amount of garlic in a dish. These weaknesses highlight areas where the restaurant can improve to provide a consistently enjoyable dining experience for all customers.

A friend took us for my friend's and my birthday, the food was superb, the service was faultless, the smells intoxicating. I had sweet and sour chicken with boiled rice and chips half and half. Generous portions. We had the little spring rolls as starters and no dessert WELL I had a birthday cake so we had a slice of that. Can't comment on the price because it was a gift, but when we asked, he said he was pleasantly surprised.
Ordered for the first time tonight and certainly won't be the last. Be trying to find a decent Chinese takeout restaurant for years and we've finally found one! Food was authentic, fresh and so tasty! We tried dishes we hadn't had before including crab and sweetcorn soup, sizzling beef and cashew nuts and more. Delicious! Polite delivery driver, can't wait to order again! Thank you Blue Diamond! ????
Really nice place. They treat you very well. The waiters are very pleasant and polite. The prawn crackers are out of this world. The food was super tasty. And I love how the place is decorated. We booked for 6.30 and we were the first customers in. But it soon filled up and the staff seemed to have everything under control. Going again for valentines day
Absolute tastelsss, then eat a rib, but a second and realised they weren’t even cooked feel sick, coated in the batter I wouldn’t have even seen it if it was in the first one
Lovely food - to eat in or take away. Cosy tables so best for smaller groups and got to be quick to get the on street parking but always been able to find a spot. I love the small family feel of it as you can tell everyone cares and is hard working. Very attention staff, (I think it’s the mum) is amazing at shredding the duck, just watch! Would recommend so many things on the menu. Love it here. Busy but not over booked. After moving I still drive over from saddleworth to visit. Thank you for having such a excellent restaurant. Have always recommended you xx
I love Chinese food and eat it quite a lot. I often choose restaurants rather than takeaways as the food is normally better.
This was disappointing. I had pork and cashew nuts and boiled rice.
The pork dish was loaded with garlic which is unusual but I like garlic. Other than that it had very little taste at all. Completely unseasoned, gloopy and bland. The pork was thin and so soft it might have well have not been these. No texture whatsoever and the cashew nuts were similar.
It’s not very often I don’t finish my meal but didn’t even get past halfway.
Not a one star as the staff were nice.
We could have sworn this was a "Cantonese" Restaurant. What an utter disappointment as we have eaten here in the past when it was run by the original "older couple" who we have acknowledged many times in COSTCO whilst shopping. They were not there ... and left the kitchen to be run by youngsters who have a completely different menu to what we were accustom to ... and so ignorant when my partner complained "I just tell the kitchen" is not a response to the utter disgrace of a Special Chow Mein which was like soup served on the smallest plate available. The Spare Ribs we noticed two ladies next to us were served traditional spare ribs whilst we had the "knuckle ends". We took some home for the dog who turned her nose up. The red sauce is still on our fingers a day later. Very very sorry youngsters, this is no longer our choice of venue. £65 cost was irrelevant in this review. Hopefully we will see the "old couple" in COSTCO again one day but we will have to find another place to eat.
The chicken noodle soup was nice but the beef and brocolli had an unbelievable amount of garlic in it. It was so overpowering, it should be renamed garlic, beef and brocolli. Won't be eating there again.
