Quick Facts About De Leon Latin Cocina
De Leon Latin Cocina has several strengths and weaknesses, as mentioned in the comments.
One of the strengths is the portion size and pricing of the food. Many customers mentioned that the portions were large and the prices were affordable. This is a positive aspect as customers feel that they are getting value for their money. Additionally, the food was described as delicious and the flavors were well-balanced. This indicates that the quality of the food is good and enjoyable.
Another strength mentioned is the attentive service from the staff. Customers appreciated the friendly and fast service provided by the waiters. They felt that the staff was kind and helpful, creating a positive dining experience. In particular, one customer praised a waiter named Christian for his professionalism and for taking the time to talk to them about the restaurant and its background.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is also mentioned positively by a few customers. It is described as quiet, small, and elegant. Although it is located in a hotel lobby, customers still found the ambience to be enjoyable. The dark interior with dim lighting and minimal decor contributed to a lively atmosphere, even when it was not busy.
On the other hand, the restaurant also has some weaknesses mentioned by customers. One recurring complaint is the lack of attentive service from the single waiter. Customers mentioned that the waiter was not friendly, disappeared frequently, and did not provide recommendations when asked. This lack of attentiveness and customer engagement created a negative dining experience for some customers. One customer even mentioned that their experience was below average and they would not eat there again.
Another weakness mentioned is the small drink menu and lack of recommendations from the waiter. Some customers felt that the drink options were limited and when they asked for recommendations, they received none. This could be seen as a missed opportunity to enhance the overall dining experience.
The inconsistency of service also seemed to be a weakness. While some customers had a positive experience with friendly and fast service, others mentioned being ignored or waiting for a long time to receive basic requests such as water. Consistency in service is important for a restaurant's reputation and customer satisfaction.
In terms of the physical space, a few customers noted that the restaurant is small with limited seating. While this can give it a cozy and intimate feel, it could also be a disadvantage if customers have to wait for a table during busy times.
In conclusion, De Leon Latin Cocina has strengths such as large portions, affordable pricing, delicious food, and attentive service from some staff members. However, it also has weaknesses including inconsistent service, a lack of friendly or engaging waitstaff, limited drink options, and a small physical space. These mixed reviews highlight the need for improvement in certain areas to ensure a consistently positive dining experience for all customers.

Nice place
My friend and I stopped by not knowing it was in a hotel. It's not the nicest place, just a tiny room in the lobby served by a single man. He wasn't the friendliest and disappeared a lot.
The food was pretty good and good portioned too. Prices weren't bad especially for St Augustine. It was $35 for a bowl, a chicken sandwich, and a side of chicken. The chicken breast was pretty tough and the pork in the bowl was chewy and basically inedible. But eating around it made everything fine and good. And the chicken sandwich was great. Nice little place, could use some improvements but good for St Augustine.
This place is a must! Food portions are insane and the pricing is unbelievable. The service from the waiters was top notch, everyone was so kind and attentive. The food was so good, I wouldn't change a thing!
Tasty Columbian food at a very affordable cost. It's quiet, small and elegant inside. There was only one waiter but he handled the room like a professional. They also have a bar you can sit at. We will be back.
I was impressed with every single thing my family & I ordered. The food is delicious, drinks are great & the service was amazing as well. Definitely a new favorite spot for my family and I. 10/10 recommend!
Amazing place. Exquisite food with balanced seasoning. Thanks Christian for the time you took to talk to us and tell us about the restaurant and your backgrounds. Keep the good work you're doing great, just a bit of work when receiving diners????????. Thanks for the cup of wine. Highly recommended restaurant.
My experience was below average and I wouldn't eat here again.
This restaurant is inside the Ponce hotel and shares a parking lot. It has a very small bar with only 3 seats. It was not crowded during dinner time on a Friday night and I was seated quickly. No reservations are needed here. The atmosphere is somehow lively even when it's not busy. It has a dark interior with dim lighting and minimal decor.
They have a small menu, but it's got a good variety of choices. Prices are fair. The drink menu didn't have much on it and when I asked for a recommendation the waiter had none so I just ended up getting wine.
I ordered chicken arepas for an appetizer, followed by the shrimp cazuela and the tres leches cake for dessert. Honestly most of the menu sounded good and I wanted a recommendation but again, my waiter had none and had abandoned me for a long time. I just picked at random.
The arepas were amazing, packed with flavor and great texture. Fun to eat too. But uh, has anyone seen my waiter? Still waiting on that glass of water.
The shrimp cazuela was alright, but very heavy and would be nice with water which I had now asked twice for... Waiter? Ah no, you're chatting with another table. Please don't just walk by me aga- there he goes!
At this point I just stopped eating and stared at him until I finally got some water. He never even asked if I was enjoying the food... and that's the last I saw of him.
A lovely young lady came by when I was done eating and helped me choose a dessert. Her and the tres leches cake that was absolutely perfect are why this is 2 stars and not 1.
It's a shame, but in the end I'll remember how disinterested my waiter was long after I've forgotten the taste of the food.
Best food I’ve had at a restaurant in a while. Staff was friendly service was fast. I thought it was a hole in a wall since it’s in a hotel. When we first got there it was empty but definitely filled up quickly. A small restaurant with a couple tables everything was fresh and delicious! Can’t recommend enough
They have a daily lunch specials . The bowels will fill you up . Wife had a títos and passion fruit cocktail she loved it. This is hidden gem in St Augustine for authentic Colombian food .
