Quick Facts About Eastern Spice

Eastern Spice place has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, one customer mentioned that the starters at Eastern Spice are fantastic value for money and full of amazing flavor. This indicates that the quality and taste of the food is highly satisfactory. Another positive aspect mentioned is the staff, who were described as extremely friendly, kind, helpful, and polite. Good customer service can greatly enhance the dining experience and contribute to overall satisfaction.
Additionally, there were positive comments about the consistency and improvement in quality over the years. A long-time customer mentioned that the food has a distinctive taste and consistency compared to other curry houses. This indicates that Eastern Spice has been able to maintain its unique flavor and quality over a long period of time, which can be seen as a strength.
On the other hand, there are some weaknesses that need to be addressed. One common complaint is the small portion sizes. Multiple customers mentioned that the amount of food served at Eastern Spice is not sufficient and leaves them feeling hungry. This suggests that the restaurant should reconsider its portion sizes and ensure that customers feel satisfied with their meal. Another weakness mentioned is the lack of meat in the curries. Customers were disappointed with the small, cube-like pieces of meat they received. This indicates that Eastern Spice should improve the quantity and quality of meat in their dishes.
Furthermore, there were complaints about the lack of herbs and spices in the curries, which made them taste bland. This suggests that Eastern Spice should work on enhancing the flavors of their curries by adding more herbs and spices. Additionally, customers mentioned that the dips served with poppadoms were watery, indicating that the restaurant should improve the consistency and taste of their dips.
Other weaknesses mentioned include limited parking, which can be inconvenient for customers, and poor communication due to loud extractor fans. The loud extractor fans made it difficult for customers to have conversations and understand what the staff were saying. This can negatively impact the dining experience and should be addressed by the restaurant.
Lastly, there was a negative comment regarding poor service, with a customer mentioning that they were ignored by the staff and had to wait a long time without being asked for drinks. This indicates that Eastern Spice needs to improve its service by addressing the behavior of its staff and ensuring timely and attentive service.
In conclusion, Eastern Spice place has strengths in terms of value for money, amazing starters, and friendly staff. However, there are weaknesses in terms of small portion sizes, lack of meat and flavor in curries, watery dips, limited parking, and poor communication. These weaknesses should be addressed by the restaurant in order to provide a better dining experience for its customers.

Great taste - but very small amount of food
My friends treated me to a birthday dinner at Eastern Spice
It’s a place I’ve been to many times when I lived in Cleckheaton. It used to be a busy thriving place - and you had to book in advance
My friend joked when we arrived as she’d booked a table but we were the only ones dining
The server was pleasant
When the food arrived it was smaller than a starter portion
I had chicken and spinach masala (4 small pieces of chicken) : Dave had chicken masala and Elaine had chicken korma
Coffee and water
Not sure how much the bill was as I didn’t pay but the menu showed masala at £7:40
The chips seen on the photo we’re served with the korma. The plate the chips are on was the size of a side plate. The curries came in metal bowls that were approx 5 inches in diameter and an inch deep and only half filled
When we had finished Elaine went home to cook some tea as we were all very hungry - the serving size didn’t hit the spot !
We arrived at 5:45 and left at 8:15 and were the only diners !! So different from the bustling days from years ago.
Maybe it’s empty as the food servings are not value for money ?
We came here on the 23rd of January 2023. I will start off with the positive elements to this restaurant. The first thing is that the starters are fantastic value for money and full of amazing flavour. I got the mixed starter and I must say I was very very impressed at the amount that you got for your money. I would say it’s definitely well worth getting the starters as they were first class. The staff were extremely friendly, kind helpful and polite and were really helpful and welcoming. Now on to the negatives. Sadly the curries lacked any herbs or spices. It was quite bland indeed. Also there was not much meat in the dishes at all. The meat that you did get where very tiny little cubes of meat which is really really disappointing. The curries definitely need to be revamped, but not only that you need to get much bigger portions for your money. If I hadn’t of got rice with mine, I would’ve been extremely disappointed Because you needed this as the amount of source was far too much. The other negative is sadly you cannot hear what the people who are serving you are saying, and it is very hard to hold a conversation in this restaurant because they have an extremely loud extractor fan, so when your food came, there was a lot of confusion as to what they were saying to you and a couple of times we had to swap dishes around because we thought we didn’t have the right ones. Having said that I have given this restaurant the best rating I could Because I think the main causes did let it down a lot, like I say there is a lot of sources and very little meat indeed. Also I would say the dips that you’ve got with your Poppadoms was very watery indeed.
It's a fine balancing act in terms of portion sizes, and these guys probably have it right. They're not huge but there's more than enough food!
The food itself is okay. The curry has a distinctive taste and consistency to other curry houses, well, everywhere! That said it's good food. And consistent: I've been visiting here in varying states of sobriety for over 27 years since my late teens, and if anything the quality, atmosphere, and place itself, and my cognitive function, has improved!
One thing to watch, parking is VERY limited.
Shocking shocking shocking.
Walked in on a Tuesday evening and there were a few tables but not many. No smile from the waiter, sat us down and had us waiting 10-15mins and not one person asked if we wanted a drink. Nobody had their food and we just walked out. Walked passed 2 waiters and they ignored us as we left. IF YOU DON’T LIKE YOUR JOB, DON’T WORK THERE. You won’t die cracking a smile you know.
Always amazing food and service, my favourite restaurant by far
Always a friendly bunch,
Good food at good prices, prepared fresh when you order.
Used Eastern for years and never had any complaints. 5⭐
Had a takeaway and each dish was superb. Absolutely outstanding authentic food. Absolutely would recommend
If you want a fantastic curry this is the place to go. Chapatti's are amazing as is the Chichen Tikka Rogan Josh. Excellent Value for Money.
