I called Fafa this afternoon, told her I wanted to take knotless medium braids down and asked her how much it was. She told me 50-60. I said cool. I went in, waited about 30 mins and then she started taking my hair down. I even offered to help her because I had free hands. So she gave me a comb and I helped. She did most of the taking down but I did quite a bit as well. Anyway, we get done, she picks up a comb and then she detangles the hair, which I also assist with, finger detangling while she combed. Anyway we get done and I’m thinking she’s going to charge the lower end of the range she gave because I helped, but still even if she charged 60 that was what she said on the phone. So I ask her how much, so I know the exact number between 50 and 60. She says $80. I’m like sorry that’s not right. I called you before I came. You told me 50-60. She then proceeds to tell me she detangled my hair and that’s $20 and that because my natural hair is long, and it took her more time than it would if it were short, that’s why it was $60 and not $50. I told her this is completely wrong. That why would she detangle my hair WITHOUT telling me there’s an additional fee. That I would have declined her detangling because I’m not paying anyone $20 to detangle my hair. She started saying “oh my God”, quietly but loudly enough for me to hear. I told her she wouldn’t like it if she went anywhere and they told her one price but then added services without telling them. She just kept mute with the occasional “oh my god”. I told her I’ll pay 70, she said no 80. I didn’t have time to sit and argue with someone who’s clearly trying to take advantage of people. I paid 80 and left. I was so mad. Now I’m seeing similar reviews!! Don’t go here. She would rather take advantage of you than gain you as a recurring customer. I will never go here again!! Ever! Don’t go here. She tells you one price to get you in the door and then gives you something different after. A hot mess.
I would not recommend her. Before setting an appointment I sent a picture of the style I wanted, she quoted me $60. Once I got to my appointed she said because my hair was natural she would have to add an extra braid or else "it wouldnt look right".
Skip to the finished product. Upon completion I quickly looked in the mirror and realized it didnt look like the style I requested. She did a lot of cutting and burning to make the style appear neat, she then slapped a bunch of black gel all over my braids and egdes. She didnt attempt to smooth the gel in or brush down baby hairs, just left a bunch of gel on my head, I later had to fix it myself.
I asked her the total she then stated $80. A $20 difference from the quote price. I didnt want to be a problem so I paid and didnt complain. The style isnt terrible, it just wasnt what I wanted and it definitely was poorly done. Parts of my hair look as if ive had the braids for 3 weeks. Its frayed, the braids are very inconsistent, definitely not professional quality.
Now im not saying the pictures posted in the reviews are fake, but they dont reflect the quality of work I received.
EVERYONE SHE MAKES HER OWN APPTS ON HER PERSONAL CELL-just know if you are told a price she told you not anyone else….just untruthful
I do not recommend this shop the (Mafoudia goes by FaFa. She quotes one price gets you in the seat after braiding a row or two changes the price she quotes me $120 for a short bob then switch to $160.00 totally not worth it. Be ware of her price gauging. She made the shop to small suites and expected her clients to make up the difference to met her high lease mount not happening way to many other braiders in the area & she e barely like o answer he phone and keep you waiting. If it was an option I would give zero stars.
FaFa -Mafoudia no need to come and try to explain because reading the other reviews I see you have done this to many others & I been getting my hair done by you before you even had your daughter who is now in College. Your business is no good and glad you are now being reviews by others
I made a same day appointment and FaFa did a great job on my tribal braids! Quick, simple, affordable and worked fast. Will return again!
When I go get my hair done at new places I always bring a picture of exactly how I want my hair. I showed the lady who I'm assuming was the owner of the hair salon a picture and asked her before she started if she could do my hair EXACTLY like the picture. She said she could do it EXACTLY like the picture, but at that point she should have told me no because what she did to my hair was not at all how I wanted it. Also because I braid hair myself I know how it shouldve been done. My braids were sloppy, and she caked alot of brown gel in between and around all my braids(without asking' I dont use brown gel to slick back the hair she didnt catch. My real hair is about medium length and natural. More than long enough to catch all of my hair. I was very unsatisfied, and shouldn't have paid but I was in a rush to get to my children. I didn't have time to stay and have her fix it. I payed her $80. When I got home after getting my hair done braids began unraveling. And they were extremely fuzzy as if ive had them done for about 2 weeks already. These pictures where taken the day after I got my hair done. The first picture is how I wanted it. I wont go as far to say don't go there, maybe she was in a rush to leave because I came a hour before closing or whatever, but the service I got was sloppy and thrown together. Edit: and for some reason the photo that I posted of how I wanted my hair keeps deleting its self and now its in the pictures uploaded by owner. Also there are many pictures uploaded by the owner that was not done in that shop or by the owner.
I wanted to surprise my wife so I booked an appointment with Fafa Hair Braiding. Because it was a surprise, I really didn't have all the details needed so I had to call Fafa several times and request changes. She worked with me each time. Considering the fact that my wife was a new customer, we were so pleased with the service. Fafa worked on my wife's hair from 9am - 5pm which included; taking it down, washing/conditioning and rebraiding it as well. Talk about going the extra mile.... First class professional service. Much appreciated and here we are 2 weeks later it still looks great.
I made an appointment a week EARLY when I arrive she was not there I was told I was not allowed into the shop until the stylist arrived so I went back into my car FAFA call said she was running late I thought it was two hair braiders but she is the only one she arrived 40 MINUTES LATE. I was concerned but It was to late I took off half a day from work which she said it will be fast. I let here look at the picture of how I wanted my hair..well it look NOTHING like what I ask for she took a candle and burned my bangs the are so burned and she left my ends 4 inches unbraided the hair she used was hard and course not for single braids the color look fake she took my hair back to get this hair. I called her to fix this mess she did not care to Honor her work. I can NOT RECOMMEND FAFA hair braiding. I should have listen to the reviews. keep and out for your hair some of my hair was missing. Look elsewhere.
She rents out suites here! And when its time to move out she goes in and steals your things to resale before you can even come and get your things! Happened to me and 2 other people renting from the building. Totally unprofessional and a con artist and makes up lies, DONT GO TO THIS THIEF
