I have been going to Grand Nail Salon ever since they opened and had recieved great service. The past few times though, it seems as though they put less and less effort into what they do.
At this visit, I found out they no longer do waxing (I had requested my eyebrows) which was fine. I requested a shellac French manicure and then a deluxe pedicure with hot stone massage.
Upon my arrival, two of the workers were asleep in the massage chairs, while 5 or 6 other workers were helping other clients.
I have done shellac nails for several years and I understand that it takes a few minutes being wrapped in polish remover. They wrapped my hands the second I sat in the pedicure chair, and kept them wrapped for over an hour. My hands were throbbing by the time they unwrapped them.
I had paid extra for the hot stone massage which consisted of 5 minutes of rubbing the hot stones up and down my shin bone in the same spot, no where else.
They did not use cuticle cream on my hands or feet when they were removing the excess skin/cuticles, which caused it to really hurt, especially on my hands which were so dried out after soaking in acetone for an hour.
I was not given a choice for which manicure to get, and I would have paid extra for the paraffin wax, but since it wasn't offered, I didn't get it.
I was not instructed to wash my hands after they sanded down my nails, which I thought was strange. They immediately just started applying the base coat. After they finished with the polish, he put a bunch of cuticle oil on my fingers and then motioned to the counter to go and pay. My hands were covered in oil. I asked for something to wipe them off and he handed me a paper towel and said "have a nice day."
I need to say this -- I have been getting my nails done for well over a decade, and I am not a complainer. I should have said something while I was there, and I know what you're thinking -- "how are you not going to say something while you're there and just go on Google to complain?" I hate it when people do that, and I'm ashamed - but, the overall vibe I got while I was there was that they really didn't care. I heard a few other customers ask "can you redo this?" Or "I thought my package comes with XYZ?" when they didn't get XYZ. The workers seemed annoyed to be there as if it were close to closing, but It was 3:30pm and closing time was 7:30pm.
The past few visits to this place have been a steady decline to this low level of quality, and I hate to say it but I don't think I will be back. I've attached pictures of their work.
About 2 years ago I stopped going to this salon, the people were super nice and the environment was great; however, I always walked away unhappy and over charged. They couldn't even get a shape right, at the time I had coffin nails. They were all different lengths and uneven. Recently, I decided to go back and give them another chance. I shouldn't have. I got a matte top coat and this was the top coat chipping after only 3 days. I went back, asked them to fix it... a few days later, they were all chipping again. So 2 trips and $60 later (for a fill in+undeserved tip of $10) They still couldn't get it right, shape included.
Hannah did an absolutely amazing job on my nails the best yet since I’ve moved to the area. I will be going back to her and recommend her to everyone!!
They have me in their system as Kara Robbins
Thi and his team are the best techs around and I have been getting my nails done for 40 years! The “spa” experience at Grand Nails is so amazing that I drive all the way from Charlotte once a month for their special care… and Hero’s amazing pedicures. Worth every penny.
Grand Nails was a horrible experience for me! First, the receptionist could not find my appointment. Then, I was taken to the pedicure chair, and the person came to work on my feet was not personable at all. Everyone that came after me was offer a drink, but I never was. The person doing the pedicure left and did not come back. I let them know that I was ready, and after 30 minutes, another person finally came back to assist. I wrote a review about my experience, and was told that I could not schedule another appointment at Grand Nail Salon!
I’ve been looking for a nail place in Wilmington ever since I moved down here 5 years ago and I finally found my spot. Great service, my nails turned out amazing! They have such a wide variety of polish options too almost everyone in there today was getting dip or acrylics and everyone’s nails looked fabulous. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
Excellent job! Brought myself and 4 others in for a nail appointment for my wedding and they had us out within a half hour. It was quick, well done, and they were very friendly.
I was very upset at the service and pricing of this salon. They advertise for $25-30 for acrylic fill ins. I left paying $55 for a fill in, regular color acrylic nail set. They charged for cutting my nails and a bunch of extra up charges that were added on for no reason. They made my $30 dollar service a $55 and was so upset and disappointed. I would understand if brand new or if I got something special but for a regular fill in it’s ridiculous.
