Jagged Edge Salon has received a mix of positive and negative comments, indicating both strengths and weaknesses. In order to provide a comprehensive analysis, we will highlight the strengths first, followed by the weaknesses.
Strengths:
1. Long-standing customer relationships: One comment mentions that the salon staff has been cutting the customer's hair since they were 11 years old. This demonstrates the salon's ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with their customers, creating a sense of loyalty and trust.
2. Competitive pricing: A comment states that Jagged Edge Salon offers great prices. This is an important strength, as affordable services can attract a larger customer base and make the salon accessible to a wider range of individuals.
3. Friendly and personable staff: Multiple reviewers praise the friendliness of the salon staff. They mention that the staff engages in conversations, creating a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for customers. Building a friendly rapport with customers can significantly enhance the overall salon experience.
4. Quality haircutting skills: Several reviewers express satisfaction with the haircuts they received at Jagged Edge Salon. They mention that the stylists were able to deliver on their requests and achieve the desired results. This indicates that the salon staff possess the necessary skills to meet customer expectations.
5. Personalized experience: Many comments highlight the personalized experience that customers receive at Jagged Edge Salon. They mention that the stylists listen to their preferences and provide haircuts according to their desired styles. This ability to tailor services to individual customer needs can set the salon apart from others.
Weaknesses:
1. Inconsistency in service quality: One reviewer shares a negative experience where the stylist did not meet their expectations. They mention issues with the coloring and cutting techniques used by the stylist. This inconsistency in service quality raises concerns about the overall competence and training of the salon staff.
2. Lack of attention to detail: Another negative comment highlights a problem with the back of the customer's haircut. The commenter mentions uneven and choppy layers, indicating that the stylist may have been careless or insufficiently skillful. Attention to detail is crucial in maintaining customer satisfaction and ensuring a high level of quality.
3. Limited availability and appointment procedures: One customer complains about the salon's reluctance to accommodate their request for an appointment without providing a name. They found this attitude rude and condescending, affecting their willingness to visit the salon. This weakness in hospitality and flexibility may deter potential customers.
4. Inconsistent washing and service standards: One reviewer expresses disappointment that the stylist did not wash their hair during the haircut. They expected a standard part of any professional haircut. This inconsistency in service standards can lead to confusion and dissatisfaction among customers.
5. Lack of specialized services: While the positive comments mention that Jagged Edge Salon provides good haircuts at reasonable prices, there is no mention of specialized services such as color treatments, styling, or hair treatments. This may limit the salon's attractiveness to customers looking for a more extensive range of services.
In conclusion, Jagged Edge Salon possesses strengths such as long-standing customer relationships, competitive pricing, friendly staff, and personalized experiences. However, there are weaknesses related to inconsistencies in service quality, lack of attention to detail, limited availability and appointment procedures, inconsistent washing standards, and a potential lack of specialized services. Addressing these weaknesses through improved training, better customer communication, and expanding service offerings could enhance the overall reputation and success of Jagged Edge Salon.
Best TL Reviews
I’ve been coming here since they opened, and these ladies have been cutting my hair even before then, when they were all at fantastic Sam’s hair salon at the Puainako center. They started cutting my hair at 11 years old, saw my Afro in all it’s glory during my high school days, and cut it off for my college interview, and even till now. Great prices, and always really nice. I don’t want to recommend people because it’ll get really busy and I won’t be able to walk in when ever I want but that would be a disservice to the years of friendliness I’ve had with them. They’ve cut my nephew’s hair, my grandparent’s, my dad, and I think we’ll keep going for as long as they stay open.
I got exactly what I envisioned and asked for!! ~5 inches cut with long layers. Everyone was friendly and fun to talk story with. It is one of the best haircuts I’ve had in Hilo ????
I’m incredibly disappointed… it almost feels personal, but I know better than to think this salon stylist would have the energy to mess with me. I think. First, let me explain I just moved to Hilo from Honolulu almost a year ago. Back in August of last year, I went to Jagged Edge for a cut and color. I’m used to a certain level of expertise and experience, but I knew I wasn’t going somewhere high end but I still expected somewhat decent results. I don’t know anyone here so I get randomly assigned to Glenda, and she clearly didn’t know how to color but the cut was decent. She did layers and I liked them. So fast forward to today in July, it’s been a whole year since I’ve cut my hair so I go back to Glenda for just a cut. And I’m mind blown on how horrible the experience was. First, when I got my hair cut the last time with Glenda, she washed my hair. In all the over 20 years of getting my hair professionally cut, it has always, always included a wash. Not always a blow dry, I get it but always a wash. I mean, don’t you cut hair when it’s wet? This time, Glenda sprays my hair with a spray bottle, I’m sitting there genuinely confused. She cuts it rather impatiently and I’m getting upset. I watch the other two salon stylist in the salon wash their clients hair. And I’m seeing only men frequent this salon so hey, maybe that’s why… but for me, nope. I leave upset and confused.
Then. When I get home, I examine the cut more clearly. And I see she seriously messed up the back, first layer is uneven, choppy and too thick leaving the other layers too thin. My only saving grace is I can still put it in a bun until I can get it fixed. But this is so wrong. It’s a terrible feeling to receive such awful service. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Excellent haircut @ a very reasonable price.
Friendly staff & very prompt!!!
Rude and wouldn't take an appointment because I didn't have a name, so she wanted me to take off from work and maybe they can squeeze me in. Condescending, so hmmm ... maybe they good and can, but I like nice people touching me.
The people who work there are super friendly, one or 2 visits and you can even get an entire conversation with the workers, very nice atmosphere when you enter in, you’re greeted and asked about how you’ve been. I always home here to get my hair cut????????
