Quick Facts About Kampus Kuts Barbershop and Salon

Kampus Kuts Barbershop and Salon in Carbondale, IL has received a mix of positive and negative comments. By analyzing these comments, we can identify the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment.
One of the main strengths of Kampus Kuts is the skill and talent of their barbers. Customers consistently praise the quality of the haircuts they receive, mentioning that the barbers are skilled and talented. This is a significant strength for the business as it indicates that they deliver high-quality services to their customers.
Another strength of Kampus Kuts is the unique and eclectic atmosphere of the establishment. Customers comment on the vintage barber furniture, hand-painted windows, and murals both inside and outside the building. This creates a visually appealing environment for customers and adds to the overall experience of visiting the barbershop. Additionally, the presence of a pool table and various seating arrangements adds to the entertainment value and makes the place more inviting.
The community integration and involvement of the barbershop is also highlighted as a strength. The comments mention that one of the barbers, Ryan, is working on his PhD and is an integral part of his community. They mention instances where he offers psychological support to customers and is thanked by members of the community for his conversations. This community involvement adds to the positive reputation of Kampus Kuts and shows that they are not just a regular barbershop but a place that provides support and care to their customers.
On the other hand, there are also weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One recurring weakness is the customer service at Kampus Kuts. Some customers mention that the barbers do not pay much attention to them and are more focused on movies or conversations. This indicates a lack of attentive customer service and can leave customers feeling neglected or unimportant.
Another weakness mentioned in one comment is the issue of racial discrimination. One customer claimed that the barbershop refused to cut their son's hair because they were white, suggesting a potential racial bias in the establishment. This type of discrimination is not acceptable and can harm the reputation of the business.
In terms of pricing, one customer comments that the prices are okay but does not provide any specific details. This lack of information makes it difficult to judge whether the pricing is a strength or weakness of Kampus Kuts.
In terms of efficiency, one customer mentions that their haircut only took 10-15 minutes, which they found great. However, this comment can be seen as both a strength and a weakness. While some customers may appreciate quick service, others may feel rushed or not receive the attention to detail they desire.
Overall, Kampus Kuts Barbershop and Salon has strengths in terms of the skill and talent of their barbers, the unique atmosphere of the establishment, and their community involvement. However, there are weaknesses in terms of customer service and potential racial discrimination. It would be beneficial for the business to address these weaknesses to ensure a positive and inclusive experience for all customers.

I want to send a shout out to Kampus Kuts Barbershop and Salon in Carbondale, IL, particularly Barber Ryan. I recently started having some health issues that caused my beautiful long hair to start breaking off and falling out. As a Dramatic Diva, this caused me to take drastic measures and cut out my 21” SisterLocks™️ myself. HUGE MISTAKE! Enter Ryan, my Super Hero Barber. I called Kampus Kuts after finding them on Yelp. Once he heard of my need, Ryan was willing to take me on short notice for an early morning appointment the next day. Y’all, let me tell you that this young man is more than a barber! He is exceptionally good at his job as a barber, as you will see from the pictures, but his personality and spirit is also exceptional. It was awesome learning about his family and education (he’s working on his PhD), and how he is an integral part of his community. I enjoy finding businesses who are really integrated into their communities. Actually, as I sat in his chair, a young woman stopped by the barbershop to thank him for his support through a conversation they had the day before. In his capacity as a psychologist, Ryan often is in a position to help others right from the barbershop.
Inside Kampus Kuts itself, you will find a unique and eclectic collection of vintage barber furniture, a pool table, and various seating arrangements. There are hand painted windows and murals inside and outside of the building. It is clean, accessible, and open to all. This small, minority-owned business is definitely a staple in the community, and I am so glad to have stumbled across it. If you are looking for a great haircut and/or style while you shoot the breeze with enlightened individuals, I highly recommend Kampus Kuts. When you stop by, tell them Kindra Speech sent ya.
Called Kampus kuts for my husband today. Booked an appointment same day. The place is clean and organize. The barber who booked him was terrific. Love the way he lined him up. Great Job!
I love this barber shop Good conversation and the Barber Ryan Reed is the best... Man made me feel 15 years younger
My husband got his haircut today for our wedding this weekend. In the 6 years of knowing him his hair has never looked so good. Whoever did the cut is insanely talented. Our wedding pictures are going to be so good. ????????
My husband called to make sure they had time to do my son's hair. They did, walked in the door and they said no they are not going to cut his hair. DONT GO THERE IF YOUR WHITE BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT CUT YOUR HAIR.
I have gone to this shop several times over the years and it's a good place to get a haircut. I've had four different barbers cut my hair and I could could tell each one was skilled. The knock on this shop is the customer service. Movies blaring and barbers not paying much attention to customers, but this is pretty standard for most barbershops I've been to so I don't mind it too much. If the customer service was better this would easily be a five star review. The prices are okay, I paid $35 for a even haircut which is becoming the new norm for haircuts. My haircut only took 10-15 minutes which was great
Kampus Kuts is a great place to get a haircut. I have been going there for years. All the barbers can cut hair just choose whoever you like. Its a place for good conversation, laughs, and entertaintment. They will always have music or movies playing in background for your enjoyment.
I brought my two boys for a cut, I called 2 hours prior the man told me come at 2 so we did 10 mins before. A man came out from the back after a couple minutes and was extremely nice and friendly said he would call a barber for us, said 5 mins they would be up there. My boys really wanted to go to a black barber being mixed and after the first man was so polite and customer friendly I thought everything would go smoothly but I was very wrong . Once the barber showed up I felt like we was bothering him, my boys are a little shy but there kids and this man never even spoke to them, didn’t ask a name nothing. The cuts weren’t nothing to brag about at all, I couldn’t believe I paid 55 dollars for 2 cuts none of us even felt comfortable enough to let him (I think his name was Mack) know it wasn’t even and we weren’t happy. I thought maybe it was just me but even my 15yr old got in the car and said he was so rough he just wanted it over. I can only assume these guys have all the customers they need to be successful because that customer service was awful for new business. #realdisappointed I thought when I drove 45 mins there that my boys would enjoy and feel confident about the cut that we would make regular trips to keep up this tight lined up hair cut they been talking about but never again, idk if they’ll want to even go back to a black barber again at least other barber shops we go to are friendly even if they can’t line it up right I’d take friendly first every time!!!!!
