Quick Facts About Marquis Of Granby
The Marquis Of Granby place seems to have both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, many customers praised the staff and the friendly atmosphere of the pub. Commenters mentioned that the staff was welcoming, accommodating, and made them feel at ease. Being greeted by friendly staff can enhance the overall experience of a pub and create a positive impression on customers. Additionally, the pub was described as a "fantastic little pub" with a good range of real ale. Having a variety of drink options, particularly a selection of real ale, can be a strength for attracting customers who appreciate quality beverages.
Several comments also expressed positive experiences with the food. The Sunday Carvery was described as spot on with plenty of choices, and one commenter even said it was their favorite Sunday lunch ever. The quality of the food and the warm welcome from the staff were appreciated by these customers, indicating that the pub has the potential to provide a satisfying dining experience.
On the other hand, there were several weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One recurring issue was the long wait times for food. Customers reported delays in being seated, waiting for orders to be taken, and lengthy waits for starters and main meals. These delays led to frustration and disappointment, with some customers ultimately leaving without having eaten. Slow service and long wait times can negatively impact the overall experience and deter customers from returning.
Poor communication from the staff was another weakness mentioned by customers. There were instances where the staff did not provide updates or apologies for delays, and one commenter mentioned that no one checked on their table to see how their starters were. Effective communication with customers is essential for managing expectations, addressing concerns, and providing a satisfactory experience.
A lack of attention to detail and professionalism in terms of menu presentation and table set-up was also mentioned. Customers pointed out dirty menus, spelling mistakes, and improperly laid cutlery. These details may seem small, but they can contribute to a negative impression and suggest a lack of attention to customer experience.
Furthermore, one customer mentioned a loss of confidence in the pub due to changes in staff. They expressed disappointment in the decline of the pub's reputation and mentioned that revenue may have been lost as a result. Maintaining a consistent level of service and quality when there are changes in staff is crucial in order to retain loyal customers.
In conclusion, the Marquis Of Granby place has strengths such as friendly staff, a welcoming atmosphere, and positive feedback about the food. However, there are also weaknesses including long wait times, poor communication, lack of attention to detail, and potential loss of confidence in the pub due to changes in staff. Addressing these weaknesses and consistently delivering a positive customer experience will be key to improving the overall perception of the Marquis Of Granby place.

Absolutely awesome night in there. Spent tonight, New year's eve 2022 in there. Great staff. Friendly customers.
Absolutely fantastic little pub the Sunday Carvery was spot on plenty of choice but most of all a warm welcome from the staff seeing as in a group of 5 that hadn't booked they were brilliant and on the plus side the bill for 5 with drinks 70.00 pounds.????????
This is the first time I've left a pub without haven eaten due to it taking too long. We booked a table for 1.30 but the table wasn't ready till 2 (even though there were empty tables). We ordered promptly but starters didn't turn up till 2.40 and with no bread on the table we were now starving so ate these very quickly. As our main had still not arrived by 3.20 (nor our starter plates cleared) we then decided to cancel our food and left, leaving our empty starter plates on the table. No communication from staff about delays whatsoever. Utterly disappointed as this used to be such a nice pub.
Beer was good but if you are thinking of having food there plan for you to be there a while. We booked for lunch and arrived on time for 1:30pm It took 35mins to get us seated and that only happened because we got fed up of waiting and sat ourselves down. Finally we had our order taken but ended up waiting nearly 40mins for a bowl of soup and 2 portions of garlic mushrooms. At 3.25 with our starter plates still on our table we cancelled the meals and left. What a shame to see what this fantastic pub has turned into. Not only do we visit the pub for lunch but for the last several years we have had our company christmas meal for 15 of us there. The new staff need to pull their finger out before they loose the confidence of the locals. Not one person checked on us to see how our starters were. They were more concerned about looking after their friends on the table behind us. Well done for destroying the fantastic reputation the pub had when Kate ran it. If you dont know what your doing find out or give it up!
The Marquis of Granby provided 20 of us with a most approriate and delicious "morning tea"after a family member's funeral. It was all ready for us when we arrived, we were made most welcome, and everyone loved the food. There was no pressure on us to vacate the premises which was great as family were meeting up from far flung places such as Switzerland and Cornwall that day. Service and food first class. Lovely beef and parmesan sandwiches and salmon sandwiches, asparagus wraps to die for, cheese based wraps, delicious tiny scones, some with cream and jam, lovely light cake, serve yourself tea and coffee. Very friendly. Service couldn't be bettered.
Fantastic food and friendly atmosphere. Children and dogs always welcome. Good range of real ale. My most favourite sunday lunch ever!! Must try!!!
Completely shocked by what we just experienced?! Table booked for 1.30pm, not seated until 2pm (despite a completely empty restaurant area). The only reason we got our table was because we sat ourselves, otherwise we might still be waiting to be seated?! We ordered our food very promptly, but our Starters (2 bowls of Garlic Mushrooms & a bowl of Tomato Soup) didn't arrived until 2.40pm over an hour after our table was booked for. These Starters were finished by 2.50pm. Just before 3.30pm we walked out still leaving our Starter plates on the table which hadn't been cleared! No communication from the staff throughout our time at The Marquis; no apologies for any delays, checking we're ok, offer of more drinks, no bread on the table, especially with the delays? And tables not cleared?? Very poor and odd experience, and extremely disappointing! Originally handed dirty, gravy dripped menus, which was acknowledged by the staff, but still handed to us? Dirty menu included spelling mistakes. Staff also unaware what the Soup of the Day was or the Vegetarian option, despite these being the only choices not typed on the menu? Are these 2 choices hard to remember? The cutlery on the table was not even laid correctly. It was very clear they do not have Hospitality or Catering experience?! We are a large local family, with a long standing local business employing all local staff some living in Stetchworth. We have been going to The Marquis for our works Christmas Meal for years and had a fantastic meal by Kate. Due to the change in staff, we visited today to enquire about Christmas. For us, our 'non' meal was very disappointing, but for The Marquis of Granby a lot of revenue has been lost by today's experience. Very, very disappointing!
Great service, super friendly bar man who made us feel at ease. Dog friendly. Ordered lunch, delicious food just very large portions for small appetites!
