Quick Facts About Nail En Vogue
Nail En Vogue, also known as Palace Nails, has received a mix of positive and negative reviews. While some customers have had positive experiences and praise the salon for its relaxing atmosphere and quality service, others have expressed disappointment with the salon's color matching, rushed service, lack of cleanliness, and rude staff.
One recurring complaint is the issue of color matching. According to a long-time customer, the salon consistently fails to match the colors of their dip powder, gel, and regular polish brands, leading to dissatisfaction. This customer also suspects that the salon may be trying to stretch its products by mixing colors together. This inconsistency in color matching raises concerns about the salon's attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction.
The quality of the salon's work is also questioned by multiple customers. Several reviews mention the need to trim excess product left around the cuticles, suggesting a lack of precision and attention during the manicure process. Another customer complained that their gel manicure started coming off within 48 hours, indicating a potential issue with the application or products used. Additionally, a customer mentioned that the gel polish was not wiped with alcohol after the curing process, leaving a sticky residue and unfinished look.
Customer service is another area where Nail En Vogue receives criticism. Multiple reviews note rude and unprofessional behavior from the staff. One customer mentioned being treated poorly by the technician after asking to have their gel polish fixed. Another customer felt ignored and unwelcome throughout their visit, with the technician not engaging in any conversation and rushing through the service. Lack of communication, friendliness, and basic courtesy can greatly impact a customer's experience and overall satisfaction.
Pricing is another concern raised in the reviews. One customer mentioned that they were charged more than initially quoted, leading to unexpected expenses. This discrepancy in pricing can be seen as a lack of transparency and could leave customers feeling cheated or deceived.
Hygiene and cleanliness are also points of contention. A customer mentioned that they noticed polish on their skin and had to file it off at home, indicating a lack of attention to detail and the proper cleanup process. Another customer expressed discomfort with the cramped waiting area, particularly in light of the ongoing pandemic, which raises concerns about the salon's adherence to health and safety protocols.
On the positive side, some customers have had positive experiences at Nail En Vogue. One long-time customer has been coming to the salon for nine years and enjoys the relaxing atmosphere, praising the pedicures provided. However, these positive comments are outweighed by the numerous negative reviews and concerns.
In conclusion, Nail En Vogue, also known as Palace Nails, has both strengths and weaknesses. While some customers appreciate the salon for its relaxation and long history of service, there have been significant complaints about color matching, quality of work, customer service, pricing discrepancies, cleanliness, and hygiene. These weaknesses highlight areas where Nail En Vogue can improve to provide a better experience for its customers.

I've used this salon (Nail En Vogue/Palace Nails) many years; originally, because it was the only salon in Richmond open on Sunday afternoons. After being a faithful customer for several years, I've been disappointed the last several visits. They use the matching dip powder, gel and lacquer (regular polish) brands, but the colors have been completely off every single time for many visits now. I've switched some things around trying to find matching shades, but it's off every time. I've gently pointed this out the last two times and they laughed as if it was an "Oopsy", but continued to charge me $75 (pedi with polish, and dip powder for finger nails). I think they're trying to stretch their products as far as possible and mixing colors together because the product # and name on each bottle was the same. Also, the quality of their work seems to have gone down hill as I often have to trim excess product they left around the cuticles. This picture was taken after my visit on 8/25/22. If you go, ask if they will guarantee a color match or money back when using their products that are supposedly colored matched by the factory.
Worst experience I have ever had, period. After 48 hours my gel polish was coming off completely. I go and nicely ask to have it fixed and they were extremely rude the entire time. They kept asking me if I had it done there as if I was lying. At the end I accidentally touched the UV light and got the literal smallest dot on my thumb nail that I didn’t even notice and he said “look I’m trying to fix your nails and you keep messing them up,” very rudely. They did fix the messed up ones for free. The ones that were not messed up will probably end up falling apart in a few days but I will go elsewhere before I step foot back in there and get treated like trash. When I was finished he said very rudely again, “you can go now.”
This is the worst nail place I’ve ever been to, they person that did mine went way to fast and made me nails looks really bad, they are over priced with everything. They said it would be $55 and turned out to be $70. I have never had this experience at a nail salon before, and will never be going back.
I called to see if there was a wait. They said no but when I got there there was an hour wait. I got a gel manicure. I’m glad I know something about gel nail polish because after the curing process, the tech did not wipe the nails with alcohol, leaving a sticky residue and unfinished look. There was polish all over my skin. The polish was a bit translucent and needed another coat. When I went home I filed off the polish from my skin and wiped them with alcohol. The waiting area is very cramped which made me feel uneasy due to the fact that we are just getting over with a pandemic.
Okay, so I’m not one to typically complain but I am someone who will pay/tip for great service. However, this nail salon does NOT offer and/or provide that. I recently moved to Richmond, KY so I have not been able to go to my usual place in Lexington. Today I decided to get a gel pedicure to look presentable for work. From the second I walked in, no one greeted me, no one had any type of conversation with you, more so just used their fingers to point to things and in particular directions. Throughout my entire pedicure, polishing and gel finish the guy (who I think is the owner based on his dress) did not say one word to me. They charged me $30 for just the polish that took 10 minutes and the pedicure was completely rushed. My heels and skin that was dead that I asked them to remove was still there and I just didn’t even feel like asking for them to fix it considering they didn’t say ONE word to me. The overall look was sloppy and not presentable like I usually receive at other salons in Lex. This isn’t the first time at this location but I figured I would give them another chance. But this is definitely the last time I am going there and will admit I did not dip decently for my dissatisfaction.
**MY ADVICE IS: do not go there if you like your nails and toes to look presentable, want to have a relaxing pedicure, and actually clean your feet up and feel good when leaving the salon.
I normally do not post negative reviews or even reviews at all. But this place has barely earned a one star. After three hours and still walking out with a terrible manicure, destroyed nail beds, cuts all around my fingers and zero resolution I will not be back. I do not suggest anyone to waste their time or money on this place. There are too many nail salons to go to to waste your time and money here. Also, attempting to speak with someone in charge is a waste of time. The manager “might be back in a week or so”.
EDIT: Upon further investigation of complaints on this salon I will be contacting The Board of Cosmetology and I suggest others do the same.
I went here with my mom and sister and got a gel manicure, the woman that did my nails did not push my cuticles back or cover the whole nail, she got gel nail polish on my skin and wouldn’t clean it off. she had someone waiting for her and rushed through mine. got them done sunday, it’s wednesday and most of my nails have lifted and peeled off the polish due to lack of care.
Always a great relaxing experience..
I’ve been coming to this salon for 9 years... I look forward to every pedicure. Thank you all!
