Quick Facts About Peacock Coffee Lounge
The Peacock Coffee Lounge has received a mix of positive and negative comments. In order to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the place, we will explore each comment individually and provide an overall assessment.
Positive Comments:
1. "I had a nice experience here! The ladies behind the counter were polite. Me and my friend had panini’s which came with a side of salad. I ordered a pot of tea with mine and all was tasting lovely. Only catch is the tight seating area! Overall a nice experience!"
Strengths: Polite and friendly staff, tasty food and beverages, pleasant overall experience.
Weaknesses: Tight seating area, potential issue with limited space for customers to comfortably sit.
2. "Lovely building, staff were polite and courteous. However, we ordered two full English breakfasts, which were not great at all. As we were given our food, the chap said he was sorry for our wait, which wasn't a problem to be fair, but one would expect their food to be piping hot if they'd waited a long time. It was cold, the eggs (only scrambled on offer) were bland and unseasoned. The sausage was also quite plain and tasteless, the chopped tomatoes were fine, but they were still cold, and considering they came out of a tin, shouldn't be too hard to get right. The coffee was OK, again not boiling hot, so was drunk before our food arrived. A disappointing breakfast, wish we'd gone to the tiny café down the shambles."
Strengths: Lovely building, polite and courteous staff.
Weaknesses: Cold and tasteless food, lack of seasoning and flavor, unsatisfactory temperature of the dishes, disappointing breakfast experience.
Neutral Comments:
1. "The upstairs seating area here is a fantastic place to go. Good coffee too. Go here, it's fantastic!"
Strengths: Fantastic upstairs seating area, good coffee.
Weaknesses: Not mentioned in the comment.
Negative Comments:
1. "I paid £6.50 for a bacon and mushroom panini that was sadly lacking in a filling. 2 thin slivers of cheese, 3 undercooked small pieces of streaky bacon, and 4 of the thinnest pieces of mushroom you could get. If you'd have paid £2.50 you'd have been pushing it. There was more of the panini showing empty than had a filling on it. Sadly, it took so long to come we had it wrapped to take home and put extra filling in it to make it edible. And, the pot of tea that was ordered was just sat on the side for ages as there was no one to bring it to the table. Where has the quality gone from this place? It's sadly in decline."
Strengths: None mentioned in the comment.
Weaknesses: Lack of filling in the panini, undercooked bacon, inadequate amount of mushroom, delay in service, unsatisfactory quality of the food, lack of attention to the tea order.
2. "Ordered a panini off the specials and a tea. 20 minutes later still no sign of the tea despite no other people coming in. Heard several comments from the staff during this time about 'why is no one serving?' 'Why is no one clearing tables?' My panini arrived, and despite costing over six pounds, I was lucky if it had half a mushroom, a tiny amount of greasy bacon and some cheese. Half of it had no filling at all. When I asked about my tea, I was told it was sat on the side. Absolute waste of money and will not return. Next door is just as bad and really gone downhill."
Strengths: None mentioned in the comment.
Weaknesses: Delay in service, lack of attention to customers, inadequate filling in the panini, high cost for subpar quality, unsatisfactory tea service, disappointing experience.
3. "Have been many times but not since Covid. Visited 16th August for lunch. Wife ordered a jacket potato which on arrival looked gray and unappetizing, and the cherry tomato was squidgy. My tuna and cheese panini contained little tuna compared to previous visits. Also, I'm advised the toilet didn't have a seat. Disappointing and we won't be going back."
Strengths: None mentioned in the comment.
Weaknesses: Unappetizing appearance of the jacket potato, squidgy cherry tomato, insufficient filling in the panini, lack of toilet seat, disappointing lunch experience.
Overall Assessment:
The Peacock Coffee Lounge has several strengths, including polite and friendly staff, a nice building, a pleasant seating area, and good coffee. However, there are notable weaknesses, such as tight seating spaces, inconsistent quality of food, insufficient filling in paninis, slow service, and disappointing experiences with breakfast and lunch items. Multiple comments mentioned declining quality and poor attention to customers. These weaknesses need to be addressed in order for the Peacock Coffee Lounge to improve its overall reputation and customer satisfaction.

Lovely food, clean environment and good coffee
I enjoyed the coffee today. Have also had a meal here before. Lovely old building. Tables are wiped clean. I think staff were a bit tired and perhaps needed more breaks.
