Quick Facts About Red Lion
The Red Lion place has several strengths based on the comments. Firstly, there is a strong emphasis on customer service and inclusivity. The staff received praise for their friendliness and willingness to accommodate different needs, such as the wheelchair user in one comment. This creates a welcoming atmosphere for all customers and contributes to a positive experience.
Another strength is the quality of the food. Multiple comments mention delicious meals with well-cooked steaks and mixed grills being highlighted. The food is described as being cooked from scratch and presented well. The use of homemade chips and attention to detail, such as serving the fish and chips separately to prevent sogginess, adds to the overall positive dining experience.
The variety of options on the menu, including vegetarian options, is also mentioned as a strength. This shows that the Red Lion caters to different dietary preferences and ensures that there is something for everyone. The comment about the large portion sizes, particularly with the kids' menu, adds to the value for money and generous offerings at the establishment.
Additionally, the Red Lion place is praised for its garden area. The availability of outdoor seating, including some undercover options, provides a pleasant environment for customers to enjoy their drinks and meals. This is particularly highlighted in one comment where the individuals spent a few hours in the garden and found it enjoyable.
On the flip side, there are a few weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One comment notes that the burger tasted "cheap" and the chips did not taste great. This suggests that the quality of some menu items may not be consistent. However, it is important to note that this was one person's experience and another comment contradicted this by stating that the beetroot burger was excellent.
Another weakness highlighted is the limited parking. As the Red Lion is located near a canal path, the parking area may get crowded with dog walkers. This could be inconvenient for customers looking for a parking spot, especially during busy times.
Lastly, it is mentioned that the Red Lion is not currently serving food. This could be seen as a weakness, as it limits the options for customers who specifically come for a meal.
In conclusion, the Red Lion place has several strengths based on the comments, including excellent customer service, delicious food, a variety of menu options, and a pleasant garden area. However, there are a few weaknesses to consider, such as inconsistent quality of some menu items, limited parking, and the current lack of food service. Overall, the strengths outweigh the weaknesses and the Red Lion has received positive feedback from customers.

Brill night, great people , good night singing and dancing
Just had a fantastic night SMSC Soul & Motown night. I'am a wheelchair user and nothing was to much trouble, the staff and the locals need to give yourselfs a pat on the back. A BIG thank you ????????
Just spent a pleasant few hours at the Red Lion with my friend. We enjoyed our drinks in the lovely garden which had plenty of seating ,some undercover. I had already eaten but my friend ordered fish and chips and said they were delicious. They looked amazing with a huge fish on a separate little dish,a lovely touch and prevents soggy bottoms lol, home made chips too!. I wish I hadn't have already eaten and can't wait to return to sample it for myself.
The staff were lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
So thankyou for making our Saturday afternoon a very pleasant one.
After being extremely disappointed by another local pub, we chanced upon The Red Lion. We were made to feel welcome and enjoyed very good service from both the barmaid, waitress and I presume, the landlord. Although you have a little wait as all the food is cooked from scratch, it is totally worth it. Excellent food at a very reasonable price, well presented and piping hot. Lovely atmosphere, we enjoyed our meal and felt very much at home. Would highly recommend.
We went on Burger and Pie Night (Thursdays). I had the Black & Blue Burger.....it's a large portion on the plate and you get 2 patties in the burger bun. The burger tasted quite nice, but not excellent or gourmet. For me the meat tasted a bit cheap. Also the chunky chips looked good but did not taste great.
It was a better story for my partner who had the Beetroot Burger. She said it was excellent and had good flavour and she would have it again. She said the chip portion was too big for her and left quite a few.
The salad on both plates was nice and tasted good. Overall we have a hit and miss situation, but we may return if I try a pie and my partner has the beetroot burger again
Excellent Sunday lunch such ashame they are not doing food at present. Definitely a go to place for Sunday roast
Quite a good variety of options on the menu including vegetarian options. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Managed to sit our large party of 8 on a bank holiday afternoon. Triple cooked chips were great and you get very generous portions especially with the kids menu. I had a ribeye steak which was well cooked but the cut wasn't the best (a lot of sinew). Parking is a bit limited as it is near a canal path so lots of dog walkers park there as well.
My partner and I had a meal, the steak was cooked perfect as was my partners mixed grill. The service was excellent by our waitress Amelia she was very chatty, polite and catered our every need. I would highly recommended ????????????????
