Quick Facts About Reeves Fish & Chips

Reeves Fish & Chips has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. Here is an analysis of these aspects:
Strengths: 1. Quality food: Multiple reviewers mention that the food at Reeves Fish & Chips is good and worth traveling for. The chips are described as nice, and portion sizes are large. The establishment is said to serve fresh fish, battered sausages, fish cakes, and burgers. The overall quality of the food seems to be a major strength of Reeves Fish & Chips.
2. Heritage and history: Reeves Fish & Chips is described as Abingdon's oldest and finest fish and chip shop. The establishment has a long history, having been established in 1919. The owners have refurbished the shop to celebrate its centenary, showing a commitment to preserving the heritage and providing customers with a sense of tradition.
3. Hygiene and cleanliness: The shop has recently been renovated, resulting in a good hygiene rating. This indicates that Reeves Fish & Chips prioritizes cleanliness and maintains a hygienic environment for its customers.
4. Friendly owners: The owners of Reeves Fish & Chips are described as friendly by some reviewers. This implies that they prioritize providing a positive customer experience and establishing a good rapport with the customers.
Weaknesses: 1. Lack of clear payment information: One customer complained that they had to leave without food because they were not aware that only cash was accepted. This suggests a lack of clear communication about payment options, which can be inconvenient for customers who are not carrying cash.
2. Poor customer service: Some reviewers mentioned that the staff at Reeves Fish & Chips lacks basic customer relations skills. Customers have reported instances of staff not speaking to them, not being polite, and not informing customers about the unavailability of card machines. This negative customer service experience can negatively impact the overall dining experience at Reeves Fish & Chips.
3. Busy and crowded: The shop gets quite busy, with queues often extending along the pavement and more than 10 people waiting inside during peak times. This indicates that customers may need to wait for a considerable amount of time and may have difficulty finding a seat during busy periods.
4. Limited parking: The shop does not offer convenient parking options. This can be an inconvenience for customers who prefer to dine in or those who drive to pick up their orders.
5. Greasy fish: One reviewer noted that the fish at Reeves Fish & Chips was greasy. While this was the only comment about the quality of the fish, it suggests that there may be inconsistency in the preparation and cooking of the fish.
In conclusion, Reeves Fish & Chips has strengths such as quality food, heritage, hygiene, and friendly owners. However, it also has weaknesses in terms of clear payment information, customer service, crowding, parking, and consistency in the quality of the fish. Addressing these weaknesses could greatly improve the overall dining experience at Reeves Fish & Chips.

Best TL Reviews

I would love to review the food but I had to leave without it because I didn’t have cash, the need for which wasn’t made clear to me before I ordered. Also, some basic customer relations training would be welcome: actually speaking to customers, for example, telling customers that there is no card machine available and being generally polite. But who cares, these days, about good service?
The food is good enough for me to travel past other chip shops to get to this one. service is as fast as possible but it gets quite busy, often queueing out along the pavement, parking is not convenient, and you find card machine is often not available and or they are reluctant to use it and hide it "Annoying" but still find my self going there as the quality is better than others in the area.
Not bad. Probably the best fish and chip place in Abingdon. Chips are nice and portions are large. Fish was a bit greasy otherwise would have been 5 stars. Good social distancing measures in place. Cash or card accepted.
Abingdon's oldest and finest Fish & Chip shop . This great shop has a fantastic heritage. Did you know that this fish and chip shop was established in 1919 by three local brothers, the Reeves. In order to celebrate the centenary of this shop, the owners refurbished it and renamed after the original founders. The Fish and Chips are as good today as they were over 100 years ago.
Fish and chips shop located at the end of Ock Street, 20 yards from the double round about. The place was done up six months ago and now has a good hygiene ratings. Normally Friday evening is the busy time, recently i counted more than 10 people waiting inside at about half past six. The fish is ok with an over abundance of chips. 7.8GBP for large cod and chips. Another choice is to go to White Horse pub, 2 minutes walk away for a sit in meal of fish, peas and chips meal, two for the price of one at 13 GBP. The choice is yours and hence the ratings is purely on the cost of meals after renovation. There are 2 spaces of parkings and please do not take up bus parking across the street.
Superb local chippy! ???????? They serve fresh fish, battered sausages, fish cakes, burgers, chips with all sorts of sides, and there's some great lunchtime deals on too as well as a kids menu! The owners are friendly and the price of food is more than reasonable, with portion sizes being very generous! Nice modern interior with fresh design - since the refurbishment a couple of years ago. Great addition to Abingdon's takeaway lineup! ????????
Very good food. reasonable price. can get very busy. card machine sometimes not available.
Top notch chippy! I've had chicken burgers, beef burgers, battered cod over the years and they have never disappointed me. Chips are also great. I'll be there next Friday as usual for my weekly treat!
