Quick Facts About Rio Fish Restaurant

Rio Fish Restaurant, located in Brixham, has gathered mixed reviews from its customers. By analyzing the comments provided, we can outline the strengths and weaknesses of this establishment.
Starting with the strengths, it is evident that Rio Fish Restaurant has garnered a reputation for serving exceptional fish and chips, as acknowledged by several positive reviews. One customer even claimed it was the best fish and chips they had ever tasted. The proprietor, Steve, and his wife Bridget, who were featured on the TV show "Fish Town," were described as warm, genuine, and welcoming. The friendly and knowledgeable nature of the proprietors was appreciated, as it added to the overall positive dining experience. Additionally, the cleanliness of the restaurant was commended, along with the efficient and well-run nature of the establishment.
On the other hand, Rio Fish Restaurant does have several weaknesses highlighted in the comments as well. One common complaint was the rude and unwelcoming attitude of certain staff members. For instance, a customer expressed disappointment with the treatment received, stating that some staff members were unkind and seemed to be entitled due to their television fame. Another customer recounted being told that they did not accept wheelchairs, even though their grandmother could transfer to a seat. This behavior was deemed disrespectful and unwelcoming. Moreover, there were complaints about small portion sizes and the quality of certain menu items. Specifically, one customer found the fish they ordered to contain bones, which was not mentioned on the menu, and another felt that the curry sauce served was thin and runny. These incidents left customers feeling dissatisfied with their meals and influenced their overall opinion of the restaurant.
Moreover, one comment mentioned that Rio Fish Restaurant appears to have irregular opening hours. This inconsistency may lead potential customers to choose another fish and chips establishment in the area that provides more reliable service.
In summary, Rio Fish Restaurant in Brixham has received mixed feedback from its patrons. While it has been praised for its outstanding fish and chips, friendly proprietors, cleanliness, and efficient operation, the weaknesses mentioned include rude staff, inconsistent opening hours, small portion sizes, and disappointing quality of certain dishes. It is important for the management of Rio Fish Restaurant to address these issues and strive for consistent excellence in both food quality and customer service in order to improve the overall dining experience and attract more customers.

Best TL Reviews

Recently moved to Brixham and at lunch I thought I'd try this place out as it's the first time I'd seen it open (it seems to always be closed). I had already eaten at the other fish and chip places in the area which have all been fantastic, with great food and equally stellar customer service, but this place was god awful. I've never been anywhere in the world, this bad.
The moment I walked in I was greeted by a guy who looked like his cat had just died then told me I'd have to wait 5 mins for a large chips. So like most people in most restaurants, I went to take a seat. Almost immediately a rude woman said I had to move, I couldn't sit there as it's a restaurant and over here is the takeaway (I never said I wanted takeaway either). I asked her, "what even a paying customers?" She said I had to wait at the takeaway section. The alleged restaurant section had 1 person eating food so not sure what the issue would be with me waiting there for food I'm paying them for. At that point I had the mind to just walk out and go next door for far better service, but stayed anyway as I have respect for others and their time.
Chips finally arrived, box handed to me, no good-bye, thanks or anything, just a rude gesture towards wooden forks and a napkin. Feels like the type of place that should have gone bust during COVID. First and last time I'll be going there. Save yourself the stress and eat at one of the other places along the marina, they are far nicer.
We travelled from London for a family short break, having watched the fish town series it had been my absolute dream to try out Rio’s fish and chips and Meet Bridget and Steve. Yesterday I fulfilled this ambition and have to hand on heart say, it was seriously the BEST fish and chips I have EVER had, Bridget and Steve are sincerely lovely people so kind and they even posed for a few photos with me and the family. They are exactly like they are on the tv show, funny, warm, genuine and welcoming people. The out of this world food just tops this wonderful experience. Thank you and hopefully see you again, Sol and family.
Well I travelled from Blackburn Lancashire to Dorset and visiting this place was in my plans. I said hi to Steve and acknowledged Bridget. The food I was hoping would be great and we were not disappointed. Fantastic Fish & Chips and a fabulous unique display with their suspended Shark & Fish models along with seagulls etc. This is a must visit destination place if your visiting Brixham. Anyway Best wishes to you both Steve & Bridget whatever you do in the future, stay happy. Cheers
Arrived 27th July could not have been more welcoming big fan of the fish town documentary selfie with both Steve and Bridget the fish and chips were super tasty
Lovely proprietors, very friendly and knowledgeable. Fish and chips freshly cooked. Flakey white fish in crispy batter and real chips. Well done Steve and Angela
AVOID! Very rude staff. A little bit of fame on the TV has gone to their heads. We were with a 97 year old in a wheel chair (who can transfer to a seat). A rude female member of staff told us they don't accept wheel chairs. I explained that our grandmother can transfer to a seat, to be told they don't want people in wheel chairs in their restaurant. We moved on and had fish and chips from Simply Fish (very nice and lovely staff). By the looks of the reviews of others it turned out to be the right move on our part. Let's hope the member of staff who we dealt with never ends up needing to use a wheel chair in the future and comes across someone like herself!
Disappointing - small portions considering charged £10.60 for fish chips and what was ment to be curry sauce was very runny , there are so many places in Brixham to get fish and chips , wished I had gone elsewhere
Fantastic meal today.orderd the fish but forgot to read that it came with bones lol.but the lady soon sorted that and my other half had mine.
Great cup of tea aswell
Lovely and clean and very well run 10/10
And may I add the staff were very polite and hospitable and made us feel very welcome
