Melissa is an artist. She takes her job very seriously and truly takes pride in her finished product. One of the best highlighting jobs I have ever had - I live in Saratoga Springs during the summer and fall and California the other half of the year. I've been to top notch salons in San Fransisco and Pebble Beach/Carmel and I can say this place is one of the best.
I needed a 911 blow dry on a Monday and just happened upon Robert James Salon because my map search indicated they were open. WOW did I get lucky! Melissa did a fabulous job. So fabulous, I scheduled a hair coloring on my way out because the Kevin Murphy products sounded so good. So, today I spent 4 hours in this amazing place. Kind of like the 'Cheers' (old TV show) of hair salons. It appears every client has been coming for 10+ years. It was such a warm and personal environment.
Love this salon the atmosphere is always so inviting. Amy is amazing at what she does, she’s an absolute artist and puts 100% of her love into all of her work, it shows. She knows exactly how to work with thick coarse hair like mine and I never have had another hair stylist be able to do what she has done to my hair. It’s the healthiest and most beautiful it’s ever been. Phenomenal work and very reasonably priced !!

Amy is a super talented hair stylists, I always leave my appointment feeling absolutely beautiful. I'm very particular about my bangs and she always cuts them perfectly. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair, she's been cutting and color my hair forever!! If your looking for a great artist go see Amy, she will have you feeling like the most beautiful person in the room.
I have battled my curls for years and it wasn't until I met Traci Edwards that I finally love my girls. Her dry cutting method and use of the right products has completely changed the texture and look of my hair. She is also really great about teaching you how to do things at home that make your hair look like you've just come out of the salon! Traci's the BEST!
I’ve been going to Amy Brower for about 2 years now and she never disappoints! From the very first time I went to get to have my hair colored and cut, I told her colors I like and don’t like and then let her do her thing! The colors in my hair always look amazing and the cut! She’s very friendly and great personality and always greets me with a smile. I can always get an appointment with her within the same week that I call! She always takes her time and doesn’t rush through the process and I always walk out feeling brand new, amazing, smiling and loving my hair. Hands down the best.
The atmosphere and people were really nice at this salon. I reached out for a color correction, got booked for a partial and agreed to a "clear" at the salon (my hair was too dry for lightener). Was told the "clear" would temporarily blend a preexisting horizontal lightened band for about a month and that the clear was like a gloss. It has been a month and there is another permanent lifted (orange-ish) band where the "clear" was applied. I feel misled and setback.
Bobbie has been my stylist for about 16 years. There are numerous reasons why this relationship has lasted so long. When I first moved to Saratoga, I went to 5 other stylists before finding Bobbie. I completely trust his expertise regarding the cut that compliments me at that time. I also have complete confidence in his coloring techniques. Bobbie’s passion is evident in his work. Above all, he’s the nicest person!
I first met Melissa in 2015 after a haircut gone wrong elsewhere. She was able to take an awful stacked bob that was literally choppy and a mess and transform it into an amazing stacked bob that I originally wanted. I have followed her through multiple moves before she found Robert James Salon that she now calls home. The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming! I have gone to Melissa for multiple needs from balayage to haircuts to having her do the hair for myself and my wedding party just last year! She is a dedicated stylist that takes her time to go through the steps of having a consultation with me each time I come in even though I’ve been to her time and time again. She always helps me find the best style for myself and never steers me wrong. She has great availability and amazing talent and skill! She always adds great dimension to color, balayage and highlights, and she cuts with precision and always adds amazing texture to each cut she’s given me. I used to be someone that would just go to the mall salon and get my hair cut on a whim, but never again since 2015! I never let anyone else touch my hair except Melissa! I will always wait until she is available to give me the fabulous cut and style I deserve! You will not be disappointed in choosing Melissa!
