Quick Facts About Spring Lake Park

Spring Lake Park in Southport, located about 10 miles from Brunswick Forest, has received a mix of positive and negative comments from visitors. These comments provide insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the park.
One of the strengths highlighted by visitors is the picnic area. The park has a nice picnic area with clean portapotties, making it convenient for visitors to enjoy a meal outdoors. The presence of big-sized benches near the water also allows visitors to relax and take in the breeze off the lake. These amenities contribute to the overall enjoyment of the park and provide a comfortable setting for picnics and relaxation.
The beauty of the area is another strength of Spring Lake Park. Visitors have commented on the beautiful surroundings and have described the park as a hidden gem. The well-maintained park offers a picturesque environment, which adds to the overall experience of visiting the park.
The availability of kayaking and canoeing opportunities is also seen as a strength. Visitors have mentioned a designated place to launch kayaks and canoes, providing a specific area for water-based activities. This adds diversity to the park's offerings and allows visitors to engage in different recreational activities.
Dog owners will appreciate that the park is dog-friendly. One comment specifically states that the park is 100% dog-friendly, making it a suitable place for dog owners to bring their pets. This inclusivity is beneficial for those looking for outdoor activities they can enjoy with their furry friends.
The park's family-friendly atmosphere is another strength. Visitors have described the park as having a friendly family atmosphere and clean fun. This positive environment contributes to an enjoyable visit, especially for families with children.
On the other hand, the presence of alligators in the water is seen as a weakness of Spring Lake Park. Although some visitors mention that they have seen alligators while swimming, others recommend caution and advise against swimming in the lake. This concern regarding safety may deter some visitors from fully enjoying the water-based activities offered by the park.
Additionally, the water's darkness is mentioned as a drawback. The dark water may affect the aesthetic appeal of the swimming area and could be a deterrent for those who prefer swimming in clear waters.
One comment highlights the absence of DIY alligator petting activities, which were found in other nearby lakes. This sarcastic comment indicates disappointment that the park does not offer such activities. However, it also demonstrates that the desire for unique and potentially dangerous experiences may not be met at Spring Lake Park.
The absence of fishing at Spring Lake Park is another limitation mentioned by a visitor. This restriction may disappoint fishing enthusiasts who were hoping to engage in this activity during their visit.
Overall, Spring Lake Park offers a beautiful and well-maintained outdoor setting with picnic areas and opportunities for kayaking and canoeing. The park's dog-friendly and family-friendly atmosphere adds to its appeal. However, the presence of alligators, the darkness of the water, and the absence of fishing may be seen as weaknesses. Despite these limitations, many visitors still find enjoyment in the park and plan on returning.

No swimming here; keep eye out alligators; nice picnic area with clean portapotty. Big size benches near water for taking in the breeze off the lake and the beauty of this area in Southport about 10 miles from Brunswick Forest.
Seems like it would be a nice little place to fish. It has a swimming area but the water is really dark and there are alligators in the water, so if it's me I would be cautious.
Well I mean it's the only lake with water in it so I mean it deserves at least three stars right. Hopefully they don't have to start mowing this one anytime soon!
Beautiful place been going here since I was a teen. Wouldn’t recommend swimming here saw a alligator near me while I was in the water. It didn’t seem too afraid considering all the other people around me as well. Watch your dogs and babies to play it safe.
Hidden gem! While visiting Holden Beach we were looking for places close to kayak.... This lake was perfect! Beautiful area and well maintained. My kids went swimming too! We can't wait to come back!
Some tips: there is a designated place to launch your kayak or canoe, no fishing at this lake and there are portapotties.
Great place to float and tan. Dog friendly 100%. Bring food, drinks, and a 5$ tube from Walmart! Perfection!
First time there and was really pleased!
Nice park to swim and picnic or just relax. Friendly family atmosphere and clean fun!
I'll be going back!!
Would rate higher if there was DIY alligator petting activities like I found at other nearby lakes. I snorkled here all day looking fir dem gators to pet only to find the county proactively removes any wandering into this swimming hole. If you want safe boring suburban lake swimming this is the place for you. Just some copperheads and mocassions.
