Quick Facts About May Trucking
May Trucking has several strengths based on the comments provided. One strength is their personalized approach to their drivers. The comment mentions that they know their drivers by name, not just a number. This indicates that the company values building a personal relationship with their employees, which can create a positive work environment and a sense of belonging.
Another strength mentioned is the above-average equipment and well-maintained trucks. Good equipment is essential for truck drivers to ensure safety, efficiency, and job satisfaction. Having reliable equipment can help drivers feel confident in their abilities to do their job effectively.
The comment also praises the dispatch manager, Eric, for being top-rate and knowledgeable about the trucking game. A good dispatch manager is crucial in the trucking industry as they play a vital role in ensuring drivers get the necessary miles and assignments to maximize their earnings.
The comment highlights that May Trucking provides ample time for drivers to reach their destinations and allows them to do their job without unnecessary interference. This flexibility and trust can be regarded as a strength for drivers who prefer to work independently and appreciate having the freedom to complete their tasks without constant supervision.
Additionally, May Trucking offers plenty of home time for drivers without any hassle. This is a significant advantage for drivers who value work-life balance and want to have regular opportunities to spend time with their families.
Another strength highlighted in the comments is the mileage bonus check received at the beginning of each month. This bonus can help motivate and incentivize drivers to work hard and achieve higher mileage, ultimately increasing their overall earnings.
Furthermore, the comment mentions that the driver who wrote the review has driven for several other companies but sees themselves staying with May Trucking for the long-term. This implies that May Trucking has provided a positive experience and work environment that has made the driver want to remain loyal to the company.
However, there are also a few potential weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One comment mentions a pile of trash behind a trailer and a lack of respect by the driver who left it there. This could indicate a potential issue with cleanliness and discipline at the company's facilities.
Another comment points out that the Payette terminal's office side lacks the desire to work and mentions an incident where someone refused to answer the door for a driver who needed paperwork. This reflects a lack of professionalism and efficiency on the office side, which could be frustrating for drivers who rely on their support.
Additionally, there is mention of the company's yard needing a face-lift and revitalization. While this may not directly impact the day-to-day operations, it can affect the overall image and impression of the company. A well-maintained and visually appealing yard can create a positive impression and contribute to a more pleasant work environment.
Lastly, one comment mentions unprofessional behavior by some May Trucking drivers, including passing cars on the right in a construction zone and forcing them off the road. This kind of behavior reflects poorly on the company and its drivers, potentially damaging its reputation and fostering a negative perception.
In conclusion, May Trucking has several strengths, including personalized relationships with drivers, above-average equipment, a knowledgeable dispatch manager, ample home time, and a monthly mileage bonus check. However, there are also weaknesses to consider, such as cleanliness and discipline issues at the facilities, a lack of desire to work on the office side of the Payette terminal, a need for yard revitalization, and occasional unprofessional behavior by some drivers.

I don't know, I've made more money elsewhere but for me, I really like driving for May Trucking.
I can only speak for myself when I say;
they know you by name not number, the equipment is above average and trucks are maintained rather well.
Plenty of hometime if you desire without any hassle of "lets go we need you out there".
My DM (dispatch), Eric, is top rate, gets me my miles and knows the trucking game.
They give you ample time to get to your stop and leave you alone to too do your job.
The first of the month milage/bonus check makes up for the 3 measly checks I receive during the month.
This is the 5th company I have driven for in my career. I really can't see me driving for anyone else but May from here on out.
I noticed a pile of trash behind a trailer in the loaded lot. " You gotta be kidding me!" I said out load. I hadn't noticed yet that the driver was in the trailer, picking nails out of the grooves. I said I understood what a pain the HD loads can be to clean up and tried to make some encouraging small- talk. I offered to get him a bag to put the nails and trash in. I went to get the small and large bags and when I returned he threw a handful of short( drywall, roofing?) Nails on the ground at my feet. I started picking them up and when I was done I left. Later I saw him carrying the bags to the dumpster. Later I noticed he left a lot of trash on the ground. No Respect for himself or our nice clean yard I guess. It was truck #21300
Dirt lot, so bring your galoshes during weather. Also avoid parking in the low spot near the old fuel island overnight during winter. The snow will melt throughout the day then run into that area and refreeze overnight. Hard to drive with 3-6 inches of ice grabbing your tires.
This review is specifically about the Payette terminal. May Trucking itself is a great company to drive for. The mechanics side of this terminal is good but the office side is lacking in the desire to work (at least one individual there is). I did my 10 hour rest break in the lot and the next day at 9:00 I tried to knock on the front door because I needed paperwork. There sign in the door reads will be back at 7:00 am. Apperently not. There was someone inside and he even made eye contact with me then just walked away from the door and refused to answer it.
This is a wonderful company to work for and I'm glad that they gave me an opportunity! ????
Lol. It's our yard. I work for May. Nice joint. Good folks. Could use a face-lift. I think the company owns it free and clear by now. Would be cool to see some revitalization. Salem to Layton is over a days drive so it's nice to have service capabilities between the two. Anyway, I'm sure someone understands life-cycle costing, etc.
No fuel, but with Pilot less than 5mins out, prob not necessary on site.
GREAT COMPANY. ALL YOU HATERS GO SOMEWHERE ELSE..
Instead of waiting in line their drivers will pass cars on the right in a construction zone and then force them off the road to make their way in very unprofessional
