However, there are also a few weaknesses mentioned, including a lack of lift for those with mobility difficulties, a lack of character in the cafe, some staff interactions feeling less authentic, and a disappointment with the coffee.
One of the main strengths of The Attic place is its friendly and prompt service. Customers praise the staff for being welcoming and serving them quickly, even during busy lunchtime rushes. This shows that the staff are attentive and efficient in their work. Additionally, the coffee is consistently described as smooth, creamy, and delicious. The knowledge and expertise of the baristas is also highlighted, with customers being able to rely on their recommendations for a satisfying coffee experience. The range of coffees available is also appreciated, catering to different preferences for mild or strong coffee.
The affordability of the prices is another strength mentioned by customers. This indicates that The Attic place offers good value for money, making it accessible to a wide range of customers. Another weakness mentioned is a lack of character in the cafe. One customer describes it as feeling like a 1980s cafe lost in time. This comment suggests that the cafe may lack a unique or distinctive ambiance. Authentic interaction with staff is also mentioned as lacking, with the staff appearing to be more focused on their tasks. This could potentially affect the overall experience and atmosphere of the cafe.
Lastly, one customer expresses disappointment with the coffee, despite it being described as a specialist cup. This indicates that personal preferences for coffee may vary, and some customers may not find the coffee to meet their expectations.
In conclusion, The Attic place has several strengths that make it an appealing choice for customers. These include friendly staff, prompt service, delicious coffee, tasty food, affordable prices, knowledgeable baristas, a great range of coffees, and excellent service. Overall, the positive aspects of The Attic place seem to outweigh the weaknesses, making it a recommended option for those looking for a cosy and friendly cafe experience in York.

Absolutely amazing. Staff were friendly, and did extremely well to serve us promptly despite it being the lunchtime rush. Coffee was smooth and creamy, and potato was baked to perfection.
Excellent coffees. I recommend the selection of coffees for cafetière and tasty sandwiches (the brie and bacon sandwich is delicious and is served with salada). Comfy place near to the Shambles. Affordable prices and friendly staff
A lovely and cosy hideaway in York, well worth the walk up the stairs (didn't see a lift so if mobility is difficult I would check that out).
The coffee is amazing and truely experienced and knowledgable baristas. A great range in coffees too. If you like a mild, or a very strong coffee ask the staff for a recommendation and im sire ypunwont be disappointed.
Also a nice cocktail selection, and I enjoyed the gin special (Gunpowder).
A small but tasty range of cakes looked tempting too.
You could sit quietly here on your own, or visit witha few friends.
Visited this by chance (Betty's was full). Such a nice little spot. Good selection of coffees ☕ relaxed atmosphere. It's on two floors (first and second), the upper floor is smaller and more cosy. The two waitresses were very nice. It's only open on Fridays and Saturdays so take the chance to visit if you are around those days.
A Very nice, beautiful and clean Tea house!!!! Delicious food and excellent service!!!!
I suggest it with a lot of love ????
(sorry for my bad English, but I'm from Greece ❤️)
Stopped off for what I hoped to be a top coffee experience. That's me being a coffeeknob!! The cafe didn't have its own character and felt like a 1980s cafe lodt in time. Staff all hustling and bustling about their business with little authentic interaction. The flapjack was ace. The coffee was clearly a specialist cup but I was left a little disappointed.
This has a lovely view of Kings square and has a relaxing atmosphere, the staff are very nice and attentive.
The menu is good and the food when it was served was very delicious.
Pleasant surroundings clean service was top notch coffee was nice had bacon sandwich in a choice of bread or baguette would of preferred it in a bread bun as bread was thin and baguettes are to hard for me
