Quick Facts About The Old Manor

The Old Manor place has a mix of both strengths and weaknesses, as outlined by the various comments.
Starting with the strengths, one comment mentioned that the food was "absolutely delicious" and that the portion sizes were healthy. This indicates that the quality of the food is commendable and that customers can expect a satisfying meal. Another strength mentioned is the well-kept ales, which suggests that the pub takes pride in its selection of beverages and ensures that they are properly maintained. This is likely to appeal to beer enthusiasts.
The friendly staff is also mentioned as a strength. This indicates that the employees provide good customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, reasonable prices are noted, meaning that customers find the pub to be affordable. This is likely to attract a wide range of customers who are looking for a place to enjoy a drink and a meal without breaking the bank.
Furthermore, the fact that the pub is open on Mondays, when many other establishments are closed, is seen as a positive point. This suggests that the Old Manor place is accommodating to customers who want to socialize or dine out on a day that is typically quiet in the hospitality industry.
In terms of weaknesses, there are some concerns raised about the food and drinks. One comment mentions that the scampi and chips were just "adequate" and nothing to rave about. Furthermore, the portion size is mentioned as being small considering the price, indicating that customers may feel they are not getting value for money. The comment about the elderflower cordial not being strong enough and the comment about the pint of Doombar lacking taste suggests that there may be inconsistencies in the quality of the drinks served at the pub.
Another weakness that is mentioned is the lack of warmth from the bar staff, with one customer mentioning that they did not feel very welcome. This could be a deterrent to potential customers who want to have a pleasant experience and feel valued when visiting a pub.
There are also complaints about the cleanliness of the pub. The comment mentions that the material on the seats is grubby and torn, and the tables are sticky. This indicates a lack of attention to cleanliness and maintenance, which can negatively impact the overall experience for customers.
Finally, the presence of a foul-mouthed and loud customer is mentioned as a negative experience. The fact that the staff did not address this issue in a polite manner suggests a lack of management in maintaining a comfortable and respectful environment for all customers.
Overall, The Old Manor place has some strengths, such as delicious food, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and well-kept ales. However, there are also weaknesses, including inconsistent food and drink quality, a lack of cleanliness, and unaddressed disruptive behavior from customers. These aspects should be taken into consideration when deciding whether to visit the pub.

Had scampi and chips that was just about adequate nothing to rave about, quick fry up territory. I ordered elderflower cordial for my partner which wasn't strong enough and had two top ups which was met by the comment that l had used half the bottle. I hadn't, nowhere near. I had a pint of Doombar which l have very often so l can judge a good pint of it. This wasn't it unfortunately it was with very little taste and left the glass as clear as if l had drank water. Not to be totally negative the toilets were clean and the staff apart from Mr half a bottle were good. I won't hurry back though.
Ok, food tasty but portion size small considering price . Not exactly value for money. Bar staff didn't make us feel very welcome. Would bother dining there again.
Nice atmosphere and bar staff handy carpark also. I understand the food also not bad although I had not tried but looked good.
Absolutely delicious food and a healthy portion to boot. Had the Return of the Mack burger which was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended
Good environment, well kept ales. Nice to find open Monday this time of year ad many aren't.
Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Proper pub that serves food.
Came in a few times and had a couple of nice quiet pints and watched the football. Will be back.
The place is filthy, material on seats grubby and torn, don’t lean on the tables or you’ll stick to them! The owner/manager starring at the TV very off putting when dining. Foul mouthed loud customer not asked politely to pipe down by staff in respect of other customers didn’t help matters. The only plus point was the kitchen person who was helpful and the food decent apart from that I could not leave fast enough.
Great pub. Made very welcome on our first visit. Only stopping in the area for a week but definitely going back for food.
