Quick Facts About The Queens Head
The Queens Head pub has a number of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, one commenter mentions that the pub is dog-friendly, which is a positive for dog owners who want to bring their pets with them. The commenter also mentions that the barman, Simon, is knowledgeable about the area and the ales available, providing a welcoming atmosphere for customers. Additionally, Simon goes above and beyond by providing a dental stick dog chew for the commenter's dog, showing a level of care and attention to detail.
The seating at the front of the pub is praised as being great on a summer's evening when the sun goes down, providing a pleasant atmosphere for customers. The beer garden is also mentioned as a great area, which adds additional outdoor seating options for customers who prefer to sit outside.
The comment about the pub having a lot of history and maintaining its charm as a traditional pub is another strength. This appeals to customers who appreciate the authenticity and character of historic establishments. The focus on serving great beers and ales without the distraction of food is also seen as a positive by some customers who prefer a traditional pub experience.
Moving onto the weaknesses, there are multiple negative comments about the service at The Queens Head. One commenter mentions that there was no one at the bar to serve them and they had to wait. Another commenter describes an encounter with a female employee who appeared intoxicated and was rude and disrespectful. The same commenter also mentions being yelled at by another staff member when they tried to explain the situation. These comments highlight a lack of professionalism, poor customer service, and potentially unsafe behavior from the staff.
Another negative comment mentions feeling uncomfortable with the drink they ordered and receiving rude comments from a seemingly drunk barman. This indicates a lack of professionalism and creates a negative atmosphere for customers.
One commenter mentions that the back garden was closed with no signs indicating this, leading to disappointment and a sense of a missed opportunity for outdoor seating. This lack of communication can inconvenience customers and impact their overall experience.
Although not explicitly mentioned as a weakness, it's worth noting that one commenter states they would not recommend The Queens Head unless you are a regular. This suggests that the pub may have a stronger appeal to its regular customers rather than newcomers or occasional visitors.
In summary, The Queens Head has strengths such as being dog-friendly, having a knowledgeable and welcoming barman, and having outdoor seating options. However, there are also weaknesses in terms of service quality, communication, and professionalism. These weaknesses can create a negative atmosphere and impact the overall customer experience.

We visited The Queens Head last sunday 20th Nov. Its a dog friendly pub with an open fire at this time of year. When we arrived we were greeted by Simon behind the bar. A real fountain of knowledge about the area, the ales available and made our dog Libby welcome too with a dental stick dog chew. The seating at the front of the pub, I'm told is great on a summers evening as the sun goes down. Simon also showed us the beer garden at the real, also looked like a great area. The pub has a lot of history and keeps it's charm as a traditional pub serving great beers/ales without the distraction of food. I hope our move to the area goes through and we can visit more often.
If I could give minus zero stars I would.
Ever since we entered the restaurant for the first time (and definetly the last) , there was no one on the bar to serve us. We had to wait. Back garden closed, no signs of this, dark and sad in the back garden. Finally I went to order and I am greeted by a woman who was barely standing, she had consumed quite a lot of alcohol, I ask if we can use the back garden, she bluntly tells me that it is closed and that I am not allowed there. And very, very rude gives me the drinks and asks me to pay. I go to tell my partner who was waiting there, and in a second, he comes slamming the doors and yelling at us to leave the terrace NOW! OTHERWISE IT LOCKS US THERE AND WE CAN'T GET OUT. I try to explain to her that I just let him know and that we were moving in front of the building. Again very nervous and agitated, she slams the doors and shouts as loud as she can that the door should be locked. Like I have smth to do with this.
I repeat, there were no signs that we could not go backwards. Again in a nervous tone and under the euphoria of alcohol she is very rude and ask me to bring the empty glass in.
I've never felt this way before Never even going to a pub.
How rude she can be and how disrespectful to the customers I'm in shock someone still going there!!!
Such a hostile place to try and relax.
I would never ever enter this again and definetly not spending my money there.
Do not recommend, was made to feel very uncomfortable with the drink I ordered infront of the whole pub and all the customers. The bar man seemed drunk and made rude comments to me whilst I was drinking my drink, I honestly couldn’t wait to finish my drink and leave. I waited for the bar man to leave the bar area so I could leave with out further comments being made. Unless your a regular I would not recommend at all it was not a good experience
Love this pub, especially in summer where you can sit on the grassy bank outside the front and watch the world go by. Also qorth knowing, they serve alcohol past 11.30pm.. so many others in Wokingham stop early and thats why we choose to visit the Queens Head more often now. Thanks guys!
Great, friendly pub, good range of beers.
Good pub if you want friendly staff and a good crowd.
Beautiful 14th century pub which is just like being transported back in time! We looked out across the sunset and it was as if I was sitting in the same seat an old mucker in the 1400s would have sat
Disgraceful service woman called carol behind the bar (I know this as a regular called her carol) absolutely drunk taking my money for drinks then not serving them, saying she already gave the drink when knowing full well she hasn’t. Felt stunned as I didn’t know what to do she is a bully and a drunk. She made my anxiety too much to handle by swearing at me and telling me to “fuck off” wont be returning and please avoid too scared to come back there…
