Fast and Reliable Service, they will cut any basic haircut for women men and children, they are NOT a Stylist and won't be able to help with specialty cuts or styling. They have a military discount if that applies to you and are able to do amazing Skin fades in low, med, and high. Quang is the favorite barber with his wife Thi being second. Friday and Saturday are usually very easy to get in. Sunday you will have quite a wait. If you ask for a bit off the top I'd expect to get a slight bit more removed than you ask for but I still drive from Honolulu to get my hair cut here. I recommend this Barber shop Whole heartedly.
****Uncomfortable racist feeling from owner****
Today 20DEC22 I was denied service by Mr. Quang (the owner) after waiting for 10 mins in the lobby due to him not wanting to cut my hair. “I don’t want to cut your hair, it’s too hard” were his exact words.
I was in military uniform (navy) so I have to assume that this establishment does not cut for African Americans.
Love this place!! It is my go to for my weekly cut. This no frills places gets you in and out with no fuss. Expect an average cut, but always super quick, check out my boy, third chair on the left.

Rushed job. No scissor work. Did not sanitize between customers. Asked to trim beard line charged $5 extra. Missed spots and uneven cut.
As guy that doesn't trust alot of barber shops i will say this one can be trusted as long as you give clear instructions. Clean place and multiple barbers allow for decent wait times.
I've been getting my haircut at A1 since I was a kid. A1 is family, local and military friendly. People from all walks of life in Kailua come to this shop. The price is right here. They do a decent job on style cuts, and excellent for military cuts. Also, they do have a military discount. To ensure you get the cut you want, try to avoid busy days (weekend and mondays). The family that runs A1 is friendly, welcoming and always have a smile. They do their best to make you feel welcome and give you the haircut you want. For my casual every day haircut (medium fade w/comb over) I always go to A1 and that probably wont ever change. Support local businesses!
